Big thanks Wes, enjoying learning from your tutorials every time. Hope to see another video on how you sketching a car in Substance Modeler, say a porsche in modeler? that will be great, well thanks again :)
Wes, you are simple the best! I am not sure how to use a reference image and typical front, side and top view in order to model after a reference image when using Desktop. Would be cool to see a tutorial that shows the setup modeling from a reference image. Super cool, thx a bunch and keep rocking! Cheers
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it. Really makes my day to read this comment. Definitely lots of tutorials on the way! My primary focus is on the Substance tools.
@@NightVisionOfficial Thanks, yeah horrible. Wes had set polygon mesh to Quads but why the output is in trias. I might me missing something because i don't know blender!
@@none53That's not Blender, that's C4D (aka cinema 4d), you can see on the top left. It's probably Tris because either there's a triangulation to tick on substance, or when importing into C4D Tho, he said it's for the UV unwrap
Great questions on topology. The quad-aligned triangles were a limitation of the exporter. I believe this is being fixed for the next release. The way I look at Modeler is as a concept tool. With the current version, I would not think of the topology as final. I would take this into a 3D program such as Zbrush or Blender for retopology, but Md is good for quickly putting together shapes and making meshes. The workflow can be fast and simple.
why not in real time to really help people grapple with all this interfacing. the sped up is nice for old timers to 3d but noobs are gonna find this frustrating. things this program needs, snap to center of other objects, split loose parts, lattice deformers, a way in desktop to move and rotate at the same time in one motion before it collapses to finish the operation, seeing the layer pallet in a dialog and picking from it, more tools, go look at 3dcoat...really lots of inspiration there. keep deving this. dont give up adobe...lets see more progress...
Thank you much for the feedback! I am looking to start making some intro tutorials for all the substance apps. We are also taking in all the feedback for Modeler and working to really make it useful for production.
Yes, I would also say that its more for concept and quick ideation of design and it is not geared for production meshes at this time. We will be improving this in the future but for now, the best use case is concept work.

It's sad that it took this long for a dedicated voxel modeler to come out and replace polygon modeling. Soon AI will be able to do this in seconds. I guess I will use this for a few years until AI gets better.
We introduced Modeler as free while it's entering a new beta phase. Lots of big improvements coming. Here are the release notes. helpx.adobe.com/substance-3d-modeler/release-notes.html
Masterful tutorial, Wes. I really hope you have more on the horizon! A winning formula for demonstrating the software's strengths.
Thank you much! So glad you liked the tutorial
Thanks for sharing Wes.
Thanks! Glad you liked the video

Thanks much! That is a great idea. I have been wanting to work on a car project.
@@wes.mcdermott can't wait to see!
The training was very good, thank you❤🙌
Please teach substance designer more
Thank you for the feedback! I will look at more designer tutorials. Please let me know what aspect of Designer you would be most interested in.

Thank you much! In the VR mode, you can use image planes. I will ask when they will add reference images on Desktop. I know it has been discussed.
very nice tutorial.. thanks!
Glad you liked it
really looking forward to the sequel! I want to repeat your lesson myself. But where is the continuation with the texture? (
Thanks! I need to make the video on the texturing process. Thanks for checking out the video.
Sir you are incredible your tutorial videos always inspired me❤❤❤ please make more videos and please make some more videos about substance painter

Great tutorial, may I ask what GPU do you use
Thanks! I am using a Nvidia 3080 Ti.
Thanks for the tutorial. Too bad modeler can't run on a Ryzen APU
Giving the amount of smooth you have to do every time I suppose it's not doable to use it with a mouse...?
Oh! I use only mouse :) We did also update the Smooth tools and its much better now.
in what way are they updated?@@wes.mcdermott
I am concerned about topology!
You can see it in the end. I don't particularly love it tbh, but I don't have it, so...
