DC NEXT WEEK! Man of Steel and Batman Vs Superman Ultimate Edition now on Patreon for early access:www.patreon.com/SebScreen What did you think of Kingsman the golden circle?
Regarding your question at 18:27, there's actually a story behind that. After the first film was such a success, the director Matthew Vaughn was asked in an interview that (inspired by Valentine kidnapping famous people), who would be the worst person he could have as a hostage. Vaughn replied that he could only think of Elton John, as he'd be such a whiny prima dona the entire time and he'd just be insufferable at every moment. Naturally, Elton John heard about that interview and said he actually thought it was funny, and asked to be in the next movie. So one thing led to another and bam, Elton John turns up playing himself... as a whiny prima dona hostage being insufferable in every scene.
Fun fact: Merlin was actually gonna survive, he would’ve lost his legs, darth Maul situation, and he would’ve crawled into the bar after they kill Whisky and politely ask for some help. This was changed when test audiences said they felt emotionally robbed by the fake death…
@@scottchaison1001 the fact that in the original movie, his death was an incredibly unexpected and soul-crushing moment. Most people who I know who’ve watch Kingsman say that Harry was their favourite character, and I think the directors predicted this while it was being made. It also presents a philosophy within story crafting, as stated by Valentine: “this isn’t that kind of movie.” Poking fun at the unrealistic and ridiculous lengths some writers will go to in order to generate drama or false stakes. and yet this is exactly what the movie hypocritically does in the sequel with it’s deus ex machine brain goo, just because they know that putting Harry in the trailer will convince people to go watch the movie just so that they can find out how he survived. It’s terrible storytelling at its most refined.
I liked that they made the stakes high so quick but at the same time Roxy was such a badass character. Loved her in the first and their chemistry was so great.
20:15 A curious fact about this scene is that Taron was really very uncomfortable in the situation of having to record a scene groping Poppy Delevingne, so the hands that are seen in the scene are actually James Cook, Poppy's husband.
Yo, you gotta watch The prequel "The Kings Man" next. Go into it with zero expectation. The tone is a lot more serious, as it's based around WW1, but it still delivers on the action, and huge third act climaxes that Matthew Vaughn is known for.
@@mrsfahrenheit don’t listen to other people’s bad opinions It’s definitely not without flaw, but it’s lot better than a lot of stuff being put out these days.
I like the two first movies, but I’ve gotta say I didn’t like The King’s Man. The premise was good, but I don’t think it delivered, atleast for me. Also just to add, saying that everyone who disliked the 3rd movie has a bad opinion isn’t looking at it very objectively. Anyone’s got the right to dislike something just as much as you’re allowed to like it, the total enjoyment someone gets from a movie is entirely subjective. But generally speaking if the consensus of most the viewers is that the movie is subpar, it generally is, though that’s not always the case of course.
I like this one slightly more than the first, my only complaint was Whiskey being a double agent seemed like a very forced plot twist. It felt like they only started dropping hints that he might turn at the very last minute, and it’s not one of those twists that make you go “oh that makes so much sense” it’s one of those twists that makes you go “oh, okay I guess.” Idk just my thoughts, maybe it’s just my love for Pedro Pascal talking. I will say it did result in my favorite fight scene of all time probably.
@@JustCallMeMeghan he literally gave a hint even BEFORE that. When he said to Champaign, “we can’t make it personal” when they heard the presidents plan. He def dropped hints early, just only for people that are smart enough to see lol
Except he wasn't exactly a double agent, he was an independent variable who absolutely would have taken Poppy down, he just wouldn't have saved the victims.
Who said this movie is bad?! Come fight me! This movie is amazing! That opening fight scene. EJ kicking ass. The whole Statesman situation. Ms. Poppy. The cast! Amazing!
Personally, I say it's worse because I vastly prefer the original's villain/evil plan ... and because I miss Roxy >:( But, of course, the action, music, casting, costumes (lol Channing Tatum looks ~great~ as a cowboy), and comedy remain on point :3
The King’s Man is a prequel to these movies. It shows how Kingsman was formed. I think you’ll like that one too. It has more sword fights rather than had to hand and gun fights.
Channing is from Alabama so this southern accent he has here is way more closer to the real Channing than anything else he's done lol hes from Cullman Alabama, to be exact!
13:08 I think he was in the trailer, but it didn't feel like a gimmick to me. A lot of people expected him to somehow survive since it's a crazy comic book spy world anyway.
Thank you so much for this showing up today. I thought It'd be a bit before you got to the second, or if you would, but man did it hit at the right time. I was one of those saying the second wasn't as good, but only under the pretense that the first was insane when it came out and felt so different. This felt like more of the same and I'm not against it but it just has a different vibe to it to me. Although Sir Elton John kicking ass makes it a million times better in its own right.
The outside of Statesman was actually filmed at the stables I used to ride at! Same with the cabin where Colin forth shoots Whiskey. Both locations were on the same site. I used to ride past the cabin all the time.
The detail of "Valentine has to be stopped, he has a device" with urgency on his voice as his first priority is the mission... Is an amazing piece of attention to detail on this movie.
Man, I love these movies so much!! I cannot even name my fav moments of this reaction. I mean, the Doctor Who similarities, the Merlin and Eggsy bro crying moment, the puns... Perfect!! Not to mention the bar scene. We all knew what was coming when Harry got up from his seat 💀
At 9:57 - they actually filmed in a real wine shop called Berry Brothers and Rudd, a world famous wine shop that has been in London since the 1698. They got permission to film in the shop including their wine cellar.
This was a really entertaining film w/ a great cast. I'd love to see Seb check out some other films w/ these actors, i.e.: * Halle Berry - Catwoman, Robots * Mark Strong - Sherlock Holmes, Stardust, Kick-Ass * Colin Firth - St Trinian's, Nanny McPhee, Mamma Mia, Paddington * Elton John (/his songs) - Gnomeo & Juliet, Road to El Dorado * Channing Tatum - G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra, The Lost City, White House Down, Jupiter Ascending, Smallfoot * Julianna Moore - Jurassic Park films * Jeff Bridges - R.I.P.D. * Bruce Greenwood - National Treasure, etc.
That's Julianne Moore as Poppy. You can see (all of her) in 1997's "Boogie Nights". Also with Halle Berry in this you can connect the Bond Universe with this one. Since she was also in ''Die Another Day''.
If these films continue on forever, and Matthew Vaughn hands the keys over, Edgar Wright and James Gunn should definitely both have a crack at the universe.
I hate how they basically spoiled a major plot point in basically every advertisement for the movie, there were posters spoiling it, it's right there on the blue ray cover, streaming services probably use the same picture and spoil it too, like Why?!
I really enjoy this sequel too. I'll never forget the story Taron told about his first meeting with Elton at the filming for the wedding scene where Elton said to him "if I was 20 years younger it would be me who you were marrying" 😆
I think you need to do some research on Prince. He was so prolific in the 80s-00s. Check out some of his live performances. Do the superbowl 2007 performance and any of his purple rain stuff. I mention all this because you didn’t know the song in the beginning or who they were parodying in Scary Movie. The opening character’s boyfriend who was tied up outside. It was because the actress playing the Drew Barrymore part used to be dating prince. So they were kinda making fun of that whole thing on top of making fun of Scream. But it got me thinking you need a Prince education. Because he was awesome.
It's a good movie, definitely, but yeah, I do prefer the first film. The villain (Valentine) is more interesting/developed, the story flows really well and doesn't feel rushed or prolonged, characters are great, and the tech/gadgets (while it obviously isn't realistic) seemed more grounded without breaking my suspension of disbelief too much. Again, the sequel is good, but it is lacking in/not as good in these areas. Also, while Harry is a great character, the inclusion of the restorative gel really took things too far for me and kinda lessened Harry's impact/story from the first film. I feel like, at the least, they could have not used it on Whiskey to make it more suspenseful as to whether or not Harry killed an innocent man or not. Also, fun fact. Canonically now in this series, the American presidents went from someone who signed off on killing his citizens before getting his head blown up; to then being followed up by another president who also agreed to killing most of his population before being arrested. Just thought it was funny and kinda interesting to imagine how the in-world next election would go.
The first time I watched this was on the plane with my little brother (who was 13/14 at the time), and a guy he went to school with. The way I made my brother close his eyes 😅
you GOTTA watch you again (comedy movie with kristen bell and jamie lynn curtis) and the proposal (rom-com with ryan reynolds, sandra bullock AND betty white)
