What I also love about these movies is that each character's super powers are related to their role in the family; the father having to always be the strong one, the mother being pulled and streched in million directions, the hyperactive younger brother, the teenage girl who just wants to disapear and the baby - unknown potential.
to add on to this- the father: go to solution is always physical / direct and hands-on the mother: having to constantly be flexible and adaptable to a variety of situations and people the brother: youth, freedom, passion, reckless excitement and optimism, always in a rush, competitive and overconfident the daughter: the conflict of wanting to be simultaneously invisible and seen (combined with feeling invisible even when capable of being seen), that teenage phase of insecurity and figuring out your identity the baby: unpredictable, extreme range of emotions and desires
Not related at all but I like that the kids names match their powers as well. Dash for speed, violet like ultra-violet light, and jack jack is a jack of all trades in the way he has a bunch of powers

One of the best Pixar films! And the second one is great too! Every character had a personality and purpose. Plus the 1960s setting is so subtle and chic, it went over my head as a kid. It’s my favorite aspect now. Also Edna is the goat and she knows it
Interesting fact- originally the creators wanted Helens friend, the pilot, to fly them to the island and he was going to get killed during the plane crash scene. But they thought that this scene was too brutal and so they changed it. There is actually a video on TH-cam with the original story board
There's definitely a lot of interesting stuff that never made it to the big screen for reasons. I liked one where they went to a a neighbourhood barbecue and Bob "burns" himself on the grill and has to pretend to be hurt, so they get in the car to go to the hospital... and they don't even know where it is :)
@@hellomark1No, he "cut" himself with a knife at the BBQ, but instead just damaged the knife not his hand. He had to fake blood with ketchup and rush with Helen to the hospital to avoid suspicion.
The music main theme actually comes from one of the early Bond films. I forget which one, but I remember the scene was Bond being chased by a bunch of thugs while skiing down a mountain. I happened to watch it when there was a Bond marathon going not long after this came out and recognized the music immediately.
This movie definitely lives up to its name...incredible! I loved how you picked up on the action sequences and the overall pacing of the film! That's the thing about Pixar and their films, they're ALL about the storytelling!! I'd highly recommend Wall-E! It's different, but super underrated, imo.
One of the most well written scripts ever. This story just doesn't stop. It hits every point it needs to, it doesn't waste any time at all on anything it doesn't need to. Everyone gets time, everyone grows. The stakes feel extremely real. The music is god level. Brad Bird is a hell of a good writer and director. And he always said he would love to do a second film if he could ever find a story that felt it belonged. Took 14 years, but we did finally get it. He also directed Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol. And did a really good job with it.
I had this on dvd and the extra 'jack jack attack' is a must watch I loved it as a kid. It's basically a clip of the poor baby sitter when jack jacks powers go wild. Think you can find it on TH-cam.
This movie is pretty heavily inspired by the golden age of comics, mostly Marvel, but really just old comics in general. It often gets called the best Fantastic 4 movie made, because it succeeds where the other ones failed - at it's core it's about *Vin Diesel voice* family. The villain who shows up at the end is even directly inspired by one of the first F4 villains, Mole Man.
Mole Man is goated. I’d love for him to be in the upcoming F4 movie, even if it’s only for like an opening action sequence and not the main villain. Just pay homage to the original F4 issue somehow
This movie was directed by Brad Bird who said he was in fact inspired by old Marvel comics. You'll see many people cite this as the "best Fantastic Four movie". Brad Bird also wrote for The Simpsons in the 90's and directed The Iron Giant and Ratatouille!
This was the composer’s Michael Giacchino’s absolute breakthrough. He composed the music of Up (won an Oscar) Ratatouille, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy, the new Star Trek trilogy, the last two Planet of the Apes movie, The Batman (2022) and of course The Incredibles 2. By the way the influence of the classic, 60’s James Bond movies really obvious. Not just the movie’s setting, or Syndrome’s island, but Giacchino inspired from them, especially John Barry’s score, You Only Live Twice (1967). Just listen the “Space Capsule” and sound like an unused track from the Incredibles.
The children's names also reflect their powers. Violet - ultraviolet (something we cannot see) Dashiell - self-explanatory Jack-jack - jack of all trades
In case you haven't already seen it, there's a little extra video that came with the DVD called 'Jack-Jack Attack' which shows what was happening with him and the babysitter during the main adventure. Definitely worth a look! :)
I saw this movie so much as a child that i remember one night as a teen, me and my brother stayed up just reciting the entire movie from beginning to end lmao 🤣 it’s such a classic
20:00 even as a kid this always got me how sh*tty must've been for Mr Incredible to have thought for all those years that he just lost touch with most of his super friends when in reality the villain he created killed them all.
The midcentury vibe and the score are fantastic. Disney's California Adventure has a rollercoaster themed to The Incredibles and it's an absolute blast.
This is one of just a couple of films that I've given a 10 out of 10 on IMDb. There are certainly more important movies but for it's genre it is close to perfect. Brad Bird did a fantastic animated directing trio with The Iron Giant first then The Incredibles and rounding it off with Ratatouille. He also directed Tomorrowland which I think is a very underrated film.
I think Tomorrowland came about 10 - 20 years too soon. It's a really well done movie. Don't forget Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol. One of my favorites in the franchise because Bird took the whole thing and turned it on its head and had all of their gadgets and plans fail repeatedly. He has a really good eye from framing action and just epic shots and angles.
@@mycroft16 I have to watch Ghost Protocol again - I saw it in a less than sober state at a late night showing with a girl by my side that was very distracting (nothing dirty - in the cinema), so I remember very little. Tomorrowland has some plot holes, but it has a good premise and is very entertaining..
Please can we get Edna's backstory movie? Pleeeeeeeaase? Here's how I'd pitch it: No rags to riches story. We've got enough of those, and we all know goddamn well Edna Mode is too fabulous to have come from nothing. Born into the high life fashion world, the thing that makes her different is a desire to design for supers, as well as a genius with tech. Think rich girl who had all the resources to make a difference, except she actually did. She made a name for herself by being the first designer to incorporate their powers into the suit. We see her become the icon we know her to be. Life couldn't be better. Then the cape controversy happens, and supers dying from cape related accidents start appearing regularly in the papers. The movies about her coming back on top despite it. Maybe even show that the other designers were paid by bad guys to add capes, but Edna only did it because she thought it was the trend, so of course because the other designers have some kind of protection, her name is essentially the only one being smeared. I should reiterate: DO NOT ABSOLVE HER OF GUILT. Make it very clear she made a serious mistake that cost many innocent supers' lives, but that doesn't mean she should have to pay for it the rest of her life. How does she do it? She remembers who she is, and what her God given talent is: designing super suits with the supers in mind. And thus, she threatens to start firing anyone who dares to try and add capes to her designs going forward, but because all these people have worked with her for years, not one of them dare to contradict her. If she says no capes, no capes it shall be. Before long, the cape trend dies out until they're only ever seen in Halloween costumes, and cape related accidents never darken a newspaper headline again. Until the ending, where Edna's walking out of a room for a meeting, leaving behind a newspaper showing a super being slandered in the papers, thus starting the lawsuits.
The music is really good! This movie honestly feeels like more for adults. There are so many things I didnt realize till I got older. I wish Pixar would release more movies like this.
You should watch the short film that came out on DVD when this was released! It’s called Jack Jack Attack and it shows how the baby got his powers! It’s hilarious
To answer your question regarding running on the water... It's referred to as "hydroplaning" Example: It's like skimming stones in a pond or lake. Another example is when it first begins to rain and the water hasn't soaked into the ground yet, if you drive your vehicle fast enough your tires actually leave the pavement and your driving on top of the water... There are some lizards that can move so quickly they actually skim the surface of the water.
This is still legitimately one of THE GREATEST movies I have ever seen. Better than anything Marvel can produce, better than DC, better than most of what Disney puts out anymore. It is so incredible, pun intended. It is a good family movie that is enjoyable at any age, I can't believe how good it is.
It's one of the most well-crafted films of the last fifty years. In addition to being a mix of superhero adventure, part mystery, with a strong dose of comedy, the film actually has a conservative orientation: A huge theme, is the centrality and the elevated status of family life (as opposed to other lifestyles, like unmarried super hero adventurer, or super villain extraordinaire - which are all depicted as being flashy, but ultimately not nearly as good.)
Every compliment you gave the movie is valid bro, i wish youtube allowed voice comments cause i can ramble on about how many fantastic things this movie did right and why modern movies are failing at it. And ofcourse the music, my god the music
Yup they actually referenced the robot going rouge earlier when Mr. Incredible went to fight the first robot. "Let me guess it got smart enough to wonder why it had to take orders?"
It's really interesting seeing you react to this one specially after you've watched MCU, I saw this in cinema when I was 8 so at the time there wasn't an MCU and I was too young for the Marvel movies now I can see the influence. For me this is still in my top 5 animated movies timeless imo. Also the game of this movie was pun intended incredible a rare occasion where they made a good game based off a movie if you know you know
12:10 Finally someone who knows my pain. I have to get an mri every year to make sure the cyst on my frontal lobe doesn't grow or impede anything more than it already does (I have impulse control issues because of it), and since they can't remove it cause it's not immedietly dangerous and I'm too young for the surgery to be worth the risk, I have to deal with them annually. Before I turned 18 I had to get them twice a year. I have major anxiety when I can't move, not the same as claustrophobia, but similar enough that it continues to be traumatic every year.
To answer your question Seb, no it's NOT a bad take to think that the music is one of, if not, the best part of this movie. To me, The Incredibles is a perfect example of the sum being greater than it's parts. The animation was pretty unique for it's time, the story is emotional, comedic, and dramatic all at the same time, and the music PERFECTLY caps off the film. It has long been considered one of the best original musical scores of modern animation, if not modern movies as a whole! Really enjoyed the reaction!!
Also, my personal theory and one I've seen other people share, is that Jack Jack doesn't have multiple powers. He has one power which is molecular manipulation. He can change the molecules in his body to change his form based one the situation, which presents as multiple powers.
Love how the kids name are all directly linked to their powers. Dash which is his super speed, Violet turns herself ultraviolet which is invisible to the human eye, and Jack-jack like the jack of all trades, which explains his multiple powers. Top notch writers ❤
Music score of that of a 007 spy thriller from old school movies , it's a Masterpiece for this unique nuclear family/spy/hero dynamic. It's better than a lot of MCU movies in my opinion.
one of the best films in the superhero genre, but in general as well, ever made definitely a movie you can watch infinite often and it never gets boring
Remember being a kid and loving the flash and speed powers and I had goosebumps during the dash chase scene and especially when the music pumps up once he starts running on the water! Fun little Easter Egg: The principal location for the film is Nomanisan Island... (No man is an island) Bonus Trivia: The Underminer was added during post-production because, shortly before release, they realized that they didn't have a role for John Ratzenberger. He's been their 'lucky charm' and there's a superstition at PIXAR that any movie without Ratzenberger will flop. He's the piggy bank in the Toy Story movies, the Abominable Snowman in Monsters Inc, P T Flea in A Bug's Life, Mack in the Cars franchise, the construction foreman in Up, et al.

Every character had a personality and purpose. Plus the 1960s setting is so subtle and chic, it went over my head as a kid. It’s my favorite aspect now.
Also Edna is the goat and she knows it
I literally grew up on incredibles so waiting those 14 years I nearly died 🤣 was so glad when the second one came out. Glad u reacted to it xx
@aliyahpulido953 I watched it and it was pretty good
The music main theme actually comes from one of the early Bond films.
It's different, but super underrated, imo.
one year later and im still waiting on his incredibles 2 reaction 😭
One of the most well written scripts ever. This story just doesn't stop. It hits every point it needs to, it doesn't waste any time at all on anything it doesn't need to. Everyone gets time, everyone grows. The stakes feel extremely real. The music is god level. Brad Bird is a hell of a good writer and director. And he always said he would love to do a second film if he could ever find a story that felt it belonged. Took 14 years, but we did finally get it. He also directed Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol. And did a really good job with it.
One of the best movies of my childhood! Nemo, The Incredibles, and Rattattoullie are all up there for me.
The weird part is that Brad Bird always denied the comparison between Incredibles and Fantastic Four.
correction: its inspired by the silver age of comics, the FF were the stars of that era
The "old school" men are caricatures of Disney veterans Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston. They also supplied the voices.
As soon as I clicked this I could NOT WAIT to see sebs reaction to “AND GOT BUSAAYYY” favourite line of the whole film I swear
This is my favorite Pixar movie. Definitely needed a sequel sooner, but I'm glad we got it eventually.
The children's names also reflect their powers.
Violet - ultraviolet (something we cannot see)
Dashiell - self-explanatory
Jack-jack - jack of all trades
In case you haven't already seen it, there's a little extra video that came with the DVD called 'Jack-Jack Attack' which shows what was happening with him and the babysitter during the main adventure. Definitely worth a look! :)
I saw this movie so much as a child that i remember one night as a teen, me and my brother stayed up just reciting the entire movie from beginning to end lmao 🤣 it’s such a classic
Literally one of my favorite Pixar films the score chef’s kiss and the writing, sound effects, and even the actors voices make this movie Incredible 😉
The bit where Dash figures out he can run on water gives me goosebumps every time without fail
20:00 even as a kid this always got me how sh*tty must've been for Mr Incredible to have thought for all those years that he just lost touch with most of his super friends when in reality the villain he created killed them all.
It's always great seeing you react to movies that I have loved for years. This one especially, loved it as a child.
Here's how I'd pitch it:
No rags to riches story.
Until the ending, where Edna's walking out of a room for a meeting, leaving behind a newspaper showing a super being slandered in the papers, thus starting the lawsuits.
eyyyyyy what the heck?! I actually really like this pitch!
This has to be it ... brilliant
@@qdkdicja10 Read it again. I added more.
@@carajay1851 I added more.
Awesome... I got into reading that...Backstory is totally accepted...
one of my absolute favorite films! Always loved watching this as a kid and I appreciate the more mature themes as an adult :)
32:42 Dark Theory. Edna Mode designs suits for Heroes & Villains alike; and she designed Syndrome's Suit to HAVE a Cape so he would be killed.
The music is really good!
This movie honestly feeels like more for adults. There are so many things I didnt realize till I got older.
I wish Pixar would release more movies like this.
28:13 this shot was so iconic that even WandaVision took inspiration from it and had a similar shot during the final episode
This is straight up one of the best superhero movies ever. It doesn't need a ton of crossovers or even huge names; just a good story well executed.
Sincerely jealous you didn’t have to wait FOURTEEN GOD DAMN YEARS TO SEE A SEQUEL
We had to wait 32 years for a sequel to _Return of the Jedi_ … and wasn’t *that* worth it. 🙄
And the wait was WORTH IT, now if there will be a third movie, we’ll have to wait until 2032
@@nicolasrestrepo6177☠️
Every compliment you gave the movie is valid bro, i wish youtube allowed voice comments cause i can ramble on about how many fantastic things this movie did right and why modern movies are failing at it.
And ofcourse the music, my god the music
The incredibles 2 now please!!! 🙏🏻 you’ll definitely enjoy it!
Wall E also deserves a good watch, it's a classic and nostalgia energy in it
Brad Bird is an INCREDIBLE ;) visual filmmaker. Excited to see more about Ray Gunn and his other future projects.
i will really wait for your incredibles 2 reaction. i was obsessed with jack-jack in the second one. he is so damn cute in that 😩
If you haven’t already seen Tarzan I highly recommend, Phil Collins was putting out straight fire on that soundtrack, it’s so good
I love this movie! It’s one of my favorites…just so perfectly done!
I love the subtle little details, like I was today years old when I realised Mr. Incredible's real last name is Parr ("par" = "average")
You definitely need to react to Incredibles 2. Both movies are pretty much perfect
Also the game of this movie was pun intended incredible a rare occasion where they made a good game based off a movie if you know you know
yeah the score was done by michael giacchino, hes done a lot of iconic movie scores!!
Soundtrack brings me back. So good
I appreciate u for reacting to my child movie I haven’t seen in awhile and man… the music in this movie just feels perfect🔥
i remember having a little Frozone action figure back in the day, the movie is amazing
I'm so sorry❤
To answer your question Seb, no it's NOT a bad take to think that the music is one of, if not, the best part of this movie. To me, The Incredibles is a perfect example of the sum being greater than it's parts. The animation was pretty unique for it's time, the story is emotional, comedic, and dramatic all at the same time, and the music PERFECTLY caps off the film. It has long been considered one of the best original musical scores of modern animation, if not modern movies as a whole! Really enjoyed the reaction!!
28:23 That line delivery and animation never fail to crack me up.
I vote to watch Incredibles 2 next. It’s just as good as the first one, maybe even better in my opinion!!!
Also, my personal theory and one I've seen other people share, is that Jack Jack doesn't have multiple powers. He has one power which is molecular manipulation. He can change the molecules in his body to change his form based one the situation, which presents as multiple powers.
Hey Seb, hey everyone! Hope you’re all doing well! 😊
@@AL-fl4jk Ah I’m sorry to hear that! I hope your day improves from now! 😊
always loved that the kids' names are puns on their powers, violet's is ultra violet, jack jack is jack of all trades and dash is,, well dash
It's better than a lot of MCU movies in my opinion.
one of the best films in the superhero genre, but in general as well, ever made
definitely a movie you can watch infinite often and it never gets boring
Seb, the sequel to this is amazing and basically a perfect sequel.
Remember being a kid and loving the flash and speed powers and I had goosebumps during the dash chase scene and especially when the music pumps up once he starts running on the water! I’m 26 now and it still gives me a little tingle remembering how I felt watching it as a kid 😂 absolute banger of a film
i enjoy your reactions. this was one of my favorite animated movies. finding Nemo and Tangled.
26:28 Helen wasn't just aiming for Mirage 😂 Notice how Bob dodged her fist before catching her arm. She would've got him in the noggin too 🤣
HI SEBB. Im excited you watch this movie. It's one of my favorites, and theres also a second one as well. And theres going to be a 3rd one and 4th one in a few years
Fun little Easter Egg: The principal location for the film is Nomanisan Island... (No man is an island)
Bonus Trivia: The Underminer was added during post-production because, shortly before release, they realized that they didn't have a role for John Ratzenberger.
