Probably one of the most underrated and misunderstood cars of the century by internet kids that can only read a spec sheet. Superb GT cruiser with spaceship looks and very good performance. Even it's 100-200 time, where you'd expect the electric motor to die, is not far off a stock m3
Some bloke bought a used baby blue M3 demo car, having thought it was driven by the manager. The car started making some weird clunks and noises very short after he bought it. Whilst he was watching a re-run of this particular episode, he saw that the BMW Jeremy was trashing round the track had the exact number plates as his BMW, which has quite a lot reliabilty problems. So he blamed Clarkson for breaking the car and the dealer for selling it to him.
The reality is, it serves himself right for buying a used performance car like it's gonna be in showroom condition when you can guarantee it's been thrown around...unless it's been owned by a wet fart.
+Mr Dusty Well I would say the fault was more with the dealership selling it as if it was straight out of the factory, they could at least have had a mechanic look at it before putting it back in the showroom.

I'm not too sure about the specifics but in cases press cars can be sold to the public and not told specifically they were press cars so you might just think it's used or something when in fact it's been beaten on. The customer took the car back to the dealer who took it back and gave him a BMW 330d plus whatever the difference was (and maybe something for his trouble?)

Straight away he called the dealer of where he bought the M3 from and they said that the vehicle wasn't meant to be sold due to being trashed on Top Gear and being classed as a unsuitable vehicle to drive.
apparently some guy actually bought that exact M3 and didn't know it had been whupped around a track, the suspension was all messed up and he started complaining. tbh In that situation I'd put the car up on a pedestal and charge 5 dollars to sit in it; it's been driven by blessed hands.

Partly because these cars have very little mileage and the engine isn't properly, or at all, run-in or whatever you call it and also because that doing that to any car will damage it. Still, I would love to have a car featured on Top Gear even if it would fall apart if you were to drive it, I just want to have one :D

The I8 has the special distinction of being the one supercar I’ve had the honor of sitting in at an auto show. It was cool and all, but getting in and out was a bit annoying because the scissor doors kept hitting my head. I think it’d be a good car to experiment with on a weekend, but the more conventional M3 would be a better daily driver

Regardless of how good a BMW is as a sensible german its hard to buy one. Theres always this wiff about BMW drivers thinking they own the road and dont need to use indicators etc. And buying one lower in the range especially the 3 series always makes you look iffy. Its hard to describe but its sorta you want to show off but youre in a lower mid range BMW and it looks kinda bad. And buying their SUVs youre already outed as someone having no taste whatsoever cause theyre just extremely ugly. All of them. Youre much better off buying any sort of Merc really.

People let's be honest Clarkson was fired for a legit reason. I am a fan to Top Gear and will gladly watch their New show on Prime. But BBC was not in the wrong.

There should have been a third car in this test. An i8 with the gas motor of the M3. Add wider wheel arches and tires. This would be the one I would want. The i8 is light with mostly carbon body (with no hybrid stuff or batteries) with a S58 twin turbo putting out 473 bhp plus a 6 speed manual. I think I would like it in the color of the M3. The light blue is really nice. Both cars are very nice but a non hybrid non EV i8 is what I want.

I am still surprised electronic powersteering ever got traction in sporty cars. I immediately notice even in fast bends on the autobahn. I so prefer hydrolic, even in day to day drives.
Test drove the M3 today... Was a little bit disappointed... The numbers are obviously there... the handling is obviously there... but it just doesn't feel fast!! Plus not a fan of the turbo lag!!

Clarkson forgot to mention about the M3's unreliability. hundreds of these cars needed engine rebuilds after 20,000 miles and some customers didn't get their cars back for six months.

Electric/ hybrid cars aren’t really my cup of tea but, I didn’t really mind the i8 until I heard that it has a speaker on the back of the car that makes a fake exhaust noise when you give it throttle.

People let's be honest Clarkson was fired for a legit reason. I am a fan to Top Gear and will gladly watch their New show on Prime. But BBC was not in the wrong.
I'm fine with that but I believe that's only because he is a public figure and that's what I don't like. If a friend of yours who works at a restaurant punches another guy the next day he won't be fired at the restaurant because no one who eats at that restaurant wouldn't know or probably wouldn't care.

Most beautiful M3 ever
There should have been a third car in this test. An i8 with the gas motor of the M3. Add wider wheel arches and tires. This would be the one I would want. The i8 is light with mostly carbon body (with no hybrid stuff or batteries) with a S58 twin turbo putting out 473 bhp plus a 6 speed manual.
I think I would like it in the color of the M3. The light blue is really nice. Both cars are very nice but a non hybrid non EV i8 is what I want.
Well, you fire the man, then grasp at whatever you can to save your brand with his face on it. This makes me want to support Top Gear even less. RIP

I am still surprised electronic powersteering ever got traction in sporty cars. I immediately notice even in fast bends on the autobahn. I so prefer hydrolic, even in day to day drives.
Damn near everything BMW dreams up is just simply brilliant & epic. They really are the ultimate driving machine.

Test drove the M3 today... Was a little bit disappointed... The numbers are obviously there... the handling is obviously there... but it just doesn't feel fast!! Plus not a fan of the turbo lag!!

Clarkson forgot to mention about the M3's unreliability. hundreds of these cars needed engine rebuilds after 20,000 miles and some customers didn't get their cars back for six months.

There's another problem with charging stations and high-performance plug-in cars - the batteries take much longer to charge due to their higher capacity.
