  • It was a good concept idea for this fused glass project but some tweeking is needed. And I should have checked my kiln schedule a bit closer - think that is where my bubbles came from :(
I think the method has a lot of potential and look forward to sharing and trying more!
please share if you try it!

When using fruit for mosaic effect, I have used hair spray with good success. Never had bubbles. I generally fire on an elevated shelf with papyrus.

Why not combine the powder with the glue (you can water down the glue), put it in a piping bag (plastic sandwich bag with corner cut) and grout that way? Mix it up in the bag to a consistency that works for you and pipe away.

      That's a good idea

This would have worked without the glue because the powder will fill the whole void and be enough glass. Some people tack fuse before applying the powder so it does not get under the glass pieces

I wonder if you had pre fired the base to a tack fuse first, then came in with the grouting process...if it would have different outcome? I'll certainly look for a second video, love that you are teaching and sharing!!
we all learn from these things !!

Thank you. I have them on my website. When I first used them, I was asked that as well and ordered some at the request in the other video. I can add the link in the description.

Honestly, the thicker glue does make more sense. I am a newbie😜

Have you ever used hair spray to hold the grout? I also have a very thin Bullseye tack it to hold frit in place.

Yes I've used hair spray to hold the glass I guess I just figured I had the glue out already 😆 I was hoping the glue being a little thicker than the glass tac would hold more of the powder

    too much glue?

It's possible it was but I have used more in other tests...I think the idea of maybe mixing the powder and glue someone below suggested would be worth a go...
