I'm happy to share with you one of the funnest projects I've made in a while...Fizzgig!
AKA the lovable, but bitey tumbleweed Pomeranian mix from the 1980's Jim Henson classic, 'The Dark Crystal'!
I've loved this movie since I was a kid, so I've wanted to make this little guy for a while. And with Netflix's prologue 'The Age of Resistance' coming out next year, I thought there was no better time than now!

Yarn Weft Making: • How to Make a Doll Wig...
Materials used:
Brown faux rabbit fur
Styrofoam ball halves
Plastic animal eyes
Red and yellow felt
Sculpey
Brown, black, yellow, orange and white acyrlic paints
Tan acyrlic yarn
Acyrlic nails
Cotton batting
Brown fun foam
Hot glue
Contact cement
Elmer's white glue

This is so Amazing! I am going have to make myself a little FizzGig companion for my bedroom. & Whenever the hubby snores...he is going get bit in the booty by him!!😂😂😂

Oh wow. Kira is one of the names I wanted to give my daughter. We didn't even decide until later on in the night after she was born. I told her it's from The Dark Crystal and DS9..but didn't happen. We ended up agreeing on Willow; named after Warwick Davis' role.
Nice. Me and my brother got to see the traveling art of the Muppets years ago. They had some of The Dark Crystal characters there.
Seriously?! I was going to cosplay as Kira at an upcoming convention, but could figure out how to make Fizzgig so I dropped the idea all together. I will just have to use this for next year. Thank you so much for sharing!

Where did you get the fur for this? I looked up 'brown faux rabbit fur' and they were all either to light or to dark. (I might be a little picky...)

Is it possible to make this as a Halloween costume for a dog? I've been wanting to make a Fizzgig costume for my Yorkie mix, and her name is actually Fizzgig.

I glued it on with the same technique and glue as the rest of the yarn hair. Hope that helps!
Ah, so you used the Elmers glue? :3
Yes you can use 'Glue All' I also used Barge cement on parts of this project as well. Technically any glue will work. Hot glue, super glue...anything that bounds to fabric-like fibers.

fizzgig's legs are not that long ...... and kinda off colored.
metromelody18 actually his legs are longer. I am going off the Prop Store auction listing for the actual puppet. There were several variations of Fizzgig, as stated in my description, that's the one I based it off of. My camera also washed colors out. I did not color correct this video. I've seen one of the screen used puppets on display at the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta, Ga and I got the color as close as I could. If you believe that you can make a screen accurate puppet, I'd love to see it. Please link me to your creation.
