A track 5000m is so far down the opposite end of your usual running, so most impressed that you gave it a go and shared what you learnt with us lot. You are always up for a challenge🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🙏
Thanks 😊
What's your max heartrate@@goranwinblad
This video is the definition of turning 'failure' into feedback, learning & improving. Not stupid if 'first ever', evolving.
Nice to run a 5k race on such a legendary track. I specially remember Dave Moorecroft running the world 5000m record, almost breaking the 13min barrier.
You are tweaking
Totally , wanting to quit its's always there. you did great
Yep! Thanks 😊
I've been training for a 70K ultra for 15 weeks at a slow pace, but I just ran my 2nd fastest 5K this weekend while feeling relaxed and having fun. Normally, I get so stressed before 5K races that I feel sick, so you are so right Göran! mindset is so important! I'm really excited to race a 5K again after my ultra with a new approach and see how it goes.
That you have the desire to improve means you will. Sub 16 soon for you. The men's Olympic 1500 meter final was an example that everyone makes mistakes. Congratulations on a new 5K best!
Well done 👏👏👏
I ran my first half marathon on a track and my marathoner friends thought I was a crazy person. Track running is a different beast for sure.
You fly 🔥 that's an insane time! 🤙
Great video! Thank you for sharing your experience! The sound of your shoes ...ahh. I have not tried spikes yet, but I am also thinking about it. On your level I would expect you have them and train/run them on track. Wish you good luck (proper training and mind set) to achieving 16minutes for 5K ;) ( I am glad I have managed lately under 20m 🙂
It was a good decision not running in spikes when you're not used to it. It's a different kind of running. Alphaflys aren't the right choice either ofc :). Great video. I wasn't mentally prepared for my first track race either, that sucked.... at least half of the 25 laps :). Next try next year.
Ya running on a track in circles drives ur mind crazy, cause there's nothing to relax ur mind with
La pista no es para mi😂....demasiada intensidad y gente adelantándome por todos lados 😅.
Que gran video ❤❤, gracias 😊!!
Haha yeah prefer running on the trails myself, but as fun to try. Thanks!
pass on the straight part of the track if you pass on the curve you run more distance. just a tip love your channel man it is one of my favorite
Yeah good tip, thanks glad to hear!
Awesome stuff and a pleasure to meet and race with you at such an iconic stadium!!
Thanks!
In Houston, I ran a couple of similar type runs about twenty years ago. It is called the LP Run put on by the Terilingua Track Club. The object of the track run is to see how many laps the runners can run in 33 and a third minutes (33.20). In the past, the runners could choose a vinyl record from an album collection as a finisher’s prize.
Do you remember which LPs you chose?!
@@thexrayteam In the first run, I chose an used copy of “Toto IV” by Toto. I do not remember the second album, I chose at the next run.
@@thexrayteam The album collection would be like a yard sale variety; used albums people did not want anymore.
That’s was a good race man I’ve ran it the last 2 years 🤙🏽
0:17 you just made me laugh out loud. Every runner can relate immediately.
🤣
Really love the pace, HR, etc metrics live on screen! How do you do it? Saw one of your vids a couple months ago and have been hooked since 👍🏻
Great video. Can you capitalise on this and do another couple in the next few weeks ?
I botched my 10 mile run today 😢. Good training, but race day prep was lackluster. Warm, somewhat humid day with 25 deg. Didn't hydrate enough, too fast start and I break down at higher temperatures. 1h30 turned into 1h50
Negative splits on the track are really hard to do, especially as you don't have a lot of track experience. And 4 seconds a km is a bit change. Live and learn!
How did you get the infographics (hr, pace) into the video? That’s cool, I want to try it!
The fourth km is always a time when you reevaluate all of your life's decisions.
Nice video.
Thanks!
Congrats for your 5k PB! Next time try it without a camera on your head. I'm sure it will help to shred a few seconds. Ask your friend to record it from outside.
I've run a lot of 5k track over the last 10 years and Running track is intense. Its different to road I've run better 10k road than 10000m. The biggest challenge is keeping consistent 400m splits and that's where it gets intense. Track spike are better but don't throw yourself into them or your achilles wont thank you after. The Dragonflies for example have a zero (if nt slightly negative drop). BTW Alfaflys are illegal on track!!!
How you put the gps file on screen
Was the cap to be able to record? In general being able to disperse body heat is very important, and a cap seems counterproductive for that.
I get blinded by my own sweat if I don't wear a cap to suck it up! 😂🙈
@@thedolenorway true that, can be annoying. I guess if the sun is also just baking down, blocking it "removes" more heat than covering ones head.
A headband can help with sweat and doesn't retain the same amount of heat of a cap.
@@danjohnson9821 I've used a cut up buf as a headband on the treadmill. In the summer I also use the cap for the shade it provides. I've had skin cancer, so sun protection is also an issue.
I ran on that track 3 weeks ago at the national junior championship😄
Ok cool to hear, hope the race went well!
@@goranwinblad Thanks😄 i ran the 800m in 1.55 and actually won😅😊
I wish I could make mistakes and run as fast as you 😀
I myself got a stolen shot in agony on my second full marathon. The face of being in an up hell and down hell route 😂
Haha glad I’m not the only one 😅
get the spikes on and ez sub 15 !
Haha 😅
Gotta practice with them too. They feel and wear different. I find they hurt my feet more so there's definitely an adjustment for spikes
Lesson: dont run track, ultra boring stuff
😅
Didn't you ran a 16:39 one or two years ago? I remember comenting, that you ran 5000 meter in 999 seconds.
Yes that is true you got a great memory 😁 but that course turned out to be about 200m too short
Another big one: lying to yourself about what pace you can actually achieve, and also what you can achieve on the day in question.
You should have been disqualified... you ran with alphafly which are not allowed on the track...so you should try again with shoes which are allowed 😂
Also you're right... spikes would have killed you... you should really train with spikes to race with them.
Also if you run on the 2nd lane you add 7m every lap. That something to care about.
You speak sometime about ingebrigtsen but he races on the track. He had a bad experience on the Halfmarathon and you did on the track... some people are meant for the track and some for the road. I am better on the road... the track doesn't like me.😂
so you never ran on such rounds in an oval in school ? Really not ?
Most schools in Scandinavia have no access to tracks. My school had a 100m track that kept going as a 1km trail after the track ended.
Yeah in the town in Sweden where I grew up we ran around a lake instead 😅
so many people in this race, normaly it is max like 20
Yeah there were a lot of runners for sure and this was just 1 out of 7 heats 😅
