Yea, both Alice are worth playing, they’re a little darker, sort of a mashup of a faerie tale as if told by Terry Gilliam (like his movie Jabberwocky) and the dark whimsical nature of Tim Burton films. Though the first one may be a little dated for some players. There is an hd pack some fans made for it that updates it a little, but it’s still quite old and it only makes block textures look slightly better. It has a style to it though that holds up in some other ways besides its low poly graphics. The second however expands on this style and is well, way more stylised and brings out an extreme stylised look that transcends the games age and super holds up, because it’s sort of leaning towards more Tim Burton-esk and is at times jaw-droppingly gorgeous.
The gameplay for the first is also a little dated and may at times be quite frustrating, as in “why did the character or camera move like that!? didn’t want them to do that!.” The second is a lot better, but it still fired have some moments of weird camera angles that conflict with what seems logical, but it’s much better. A while ba k when you purchased the second, it would give you the first one free along with it, I’m not sure if that’s still the case, in any case with their age they’re quite cheap.
Long story short, yes, they have great stories, and quite darker and creepy, but mostly more so on the second if the two, but both are great, but the first is a product of its time.

I've heard of people who played this game for the first time back in 2009 who got to that part and were so completely convinced that the game was broken that they never finished the game, so it may be a little *too* good of a scare 😂

People have probably already pointed this out, but I absolutely love how, as Scarecrow's fear toxin hallucinations get stronger and stronger throughout the game, they even start to impact the game on a meta-level sense. All this time, Scarecrow's been targeting your worst fears, assuming the "you" in this case are Batman. But this final one ACTUALLY starts by targeting YOUR worst fear as a gamer; your game crashing, and all your progress getting wiped. It's absolute genius. Asylum is frequently lauded for having the most immersive atmosphere in the Arkham series, and moments like the game-crash fakeout are just one of many reasons why

When you scan a solution to one of Riddler's Riddles and it says "Subject out of view" that means that you've found the solution you just have to focus your camera on the entire solution. When it says "Subject obscured" that means that you're facing the right *direction* of the Riddle solution but something is in the way- blocking the solution

Yeah I remember people freaked out thinking the game broke too. This is also important as the Scarecrow hallucinations show Batman’s main fears. First letting his friends down, second the memory of his parent’s deaths that created him, and his greatest fear is he is just as unbalanced as the criminals he fights.

You can do the challenge mode. It's safe from spoilers, and it's a good way to sharpen up both your stealth and combat skills! There are no major story spoilers in the challenge mode. Some of the stealth maps are from the story mode but it would be maps that you've already completed. I hope this helps!

Challenges are unlocked via riddle trophy collection mostly and collecting trophies is tied to bat gadgets that you acquired in the main story. There's nothing really that spoiling anything in the challenges. In Asylum the challenges are fun extra content to become better at the combat like brawling vigilante encounters and silent predator encounters. In later games some challenges have side stories on their own.

Challenges can be accessed via the main menu, they are split into combat and Predator maps that you take on in the main story. In Combat, you take on four rounds of enemies, trying to build big combos to get a high score. In Predator, you have to clear a room of armed henchmen as quick as possible, the game will ask you to do three optional objectives that will count to your 100% game completion.
They are fun and are nice to get you into a session but I wouldn't worry about completing them.

  • @Goobergurl

Using the batclaw, you can pull enemies over railings and make them fall from a great height. Doing that will instantly KO them! It's something the game only ever tells you once, and it's a *really* effective tool for these stealth sections. If you get really creative, you can make use of almost all of Batman's gadgets during stealth scenarios. This game's stealth is probably my favorite part of the game!

Oh, and quick tip: You'll always know when you've defeated an enemy because bats will fly out of him. I know that sounds crazy, but when you see it, you'll know what I mean. This applies to every game in the series, btw

49:40 If you're really really really reeeeeeeeeally interested in racking up the combo meter as high as you can, you're on the right track: spamming the EVADE move, pushing the stick toward the direction of the enemy you want to JUMP OVER, then do the evade maneuver. When you land behind him, CRACK him in the back of the head(the same way they do Batman...lolll) and then immediately jump over another enemy ( or even the same one if he's still standing) and do the same. The evade move is considered part of a combo as would a block or dodge(if the game had them) so it doesn't break your combo meter. Rinse and repeat and watch that combo skyrocket. It's best used when Batman is surrounded by multiple enemies in close proximity. I used this maneuver to get through on the hardest difficulty with no prompts at all and it made combat a breeze. The game fools you into fixating on those damn lightening bolts above their heads. If it's worth anything, you are very much earning your strips in this game as the other BA games make maintaining combos noticeably less difficult. Happy Batmanning!

  • @stonecoldku4161
    @stonecoldku4161 หลายเดือนก่อน

I think what might be breaking your combo is that after you knock a guy down you immediately hit triangle whether there is attack coming or not. Try to keep hitting the attack button (square) and use the analog stick to point Batman toward the next enemy you want to hit at the same time.
But still do keep an eye out for enemy attacks to counter.

I'm gonna assume that you were at that point when I posted a comment about the challenges not spoiling anything like under the 2nd or 3rd video of this playthrough, and that by now, you must have finished this game, maybe even started City. So you may very well have your answer about what breaks a combo, but yeah, basically, you're right here : each input counts. The next step, to get good, is to tune in your understanding of how it works.
Basically, you have to punch a first target 3 times consecutively, then either parry or attack, always one at a time, and try to plan ahead your 2 next moves.
Also, not sure you got it at that point, but you have to push the left analog stick towards the next target you want to attack (in this first game, it could be a bit tricky, it's easier starting with City), or Batman will just punch in front of him, which is generally in the air, thus breaking your combo.
And if at some point, you feel overwhelmed, never hesitate to do a jump-over or two to temporize. Jump-overs won't break your combo, even if you chain them (unlike classic evasion move), and will generally take you out of range of attacking enemies.
Also, each time you get the chance, use a special combo move : those moves makes you invulnerable while doing them, and give you time, to breathe and plan your next move(s). Plus, in the next games, they will help you a lot with difficult enemies.
Then, the final advice, possibly the hardest thing, is to keep track of enemies with knives/electric staffs/titans/other special enemies that would get introduce in future games, cause those needs specific way to attack and/or defend.
Hope I could have helped, and good luck for the rest !

  • @biletoppi

Rocksteady initially wanted to make the combat rythym-based. They had to dial it back hard during developement but the roots are still there. You can get through the game with button-mashing but the game rewards you heavily by timing button presses right, aiming for critical strikes and reacting to enemy behavior.
I strongly recommend giving the combat challenges a go, it's a great way to learn the mechanics and timings. If you master things in Asylum then you're set for the next 2-3 games.
1:17:24 Yeah you could have avoided it by moving the middle stick. Shame that controllers only come with two sticks though.

46:41 If anything about open world games, all you're doing is navigating and backtracking indeed. 😅 I think the whole point of this game was mainly to have players feel like you're Batman in a crazy one-night event of crime-fighting, with the added detail that he's winning while getting beaten up constantly as you progress and see his suit getting teared up and such. But I think backtracking and such is the whole point of an open world though, and that makes it fun. 😊

@@PhoenixNat1:05:56 just some advice on Predator encounters, you can use your Batclaw to pull them down from the railings and you can also sneak on them using the grates if you find any (they're loud)! Holding onto ledges also lets you do ledge takedowns too! Also any walls ceilings and such with a "💥" symbol on them (You see it in Detective Mode) means you can put the explosive gel on it and blow it up that way on baddies. Also throwing a Batarang near them can make them look a different direction for a moment!
