13:17 The Joker was using the cuffs to choke the guard to death. The doctor panicked and unlocked the Joker's handcuffs in an attempt to save the guard's life. You probably caught that when you were editing, but just in case there's your answer.
Back when this originally released, the websites mentioned in the game actually worked in the real world; they were of course backdoor advertising for the game, but it was fun to add to meta real world layer to the games.
Just a really minor point: Batman and Gordon's first appearance was in 'Detective Comics' in 1939, which would feature several different crime / detective related stories in every issue. The 'Batman' story ended up being so popular they brought the character back in a few later stories, before finally giving him his own self-titled comic of 'BATMAN' in 1940. That's how a lot of famous comic characters appeared, like Spider-Man debuting in 'Amazing Fantasy #15', and even Superman in 'Action Comics #1'.
The first 2 hours of this game are the best I've played. Introduces and sets the scene incredibly well whilst building in the mechanics of the game and you meet so many characters so quickly without it being rushed
So happy that you are playing this. I adore the Arkham series. The design, the story, the combat mechanics, and I especially love the voice acting and casting which will be enhanced in this case by the reading of the character bios in your delightfully euphonious voice. 👌
There’s a lot of backtracking in this game, so if you miss stuff the first time, you can find it again. Plus there’s things you’ll need to unlock to collect things you can’t get in some areas anyway, so you have to backtrack to get them.
1:06:59, it's funny or ironic you mention being "obsessive or thorough" when you missed some lore here, so he on the look out for old school reels of record tap, they should show up as shiny objects you can collect as seen at the time stamp, they’re audio recordings which give you more lore and insight on characters in the game and the Batman universe in general. But don’t worry a lot collecting everything, there is an insane amount and you’re just getting started, as there are even more different lore things to collect, not to mention the riddler trophies and his riddles, but you can go back to all areas to collect all of these and again will have to once you unlock new tools to get to places you can’t right now. As for collecting all you see, in this game it is fun to do, especially if you want to get a primer on all things Batman which this game does very well. As for game difficulty, most of the early minions are easy enough on hard mode, but some mini bosses might be a bit more difficult, giving much harder hits. Plus eventually they'll be other minions with better weapons that can take you out pretty quickly compared to these base ones that only use their fists. So I'd wait and see to see how you deal with them.
There is a video of Mark Hamill doing a Joker monologue that he had done for Batman: The Animated series at a convention on stage in front of fans a few years ago. It's really a fun watch to see him play the character live rather than just hear his voice. In all the iterations of the Joker character that I've seen/heard over the years, I would put Hamill's version of the character a very close second behind Heath Ledger's portrayal in The Dark Knight Rises. The video of Hamill doing the dialog and talking about how he got the part in the first place is on TH-cam. "Mark Hamill Joker monologue - Star Wars Celebration VI." It's fan shot footage, but it's still good. Check it out if you get the chance.
I just finished this game yesterday no way!!! I love this game so much, and I love watching you play all these games. I'm now starting Batman Arkham City! If you like this game, you should play the other Batman games!
Enjoy it. For a game that is 15 years old its surprisingly decent graphics wise and it lays the ground work for the rest of the games that follow it. It truly is the stepping stone of the superhero game franchise.
I would strongly recommend taking your time with the Arkham series. There is so much depth and personality in each game and players are rewarded for exploring and becoming curious and interested in the world. You take your time, Nat. By the way, I found the channel through this video. I'm a massive Batman fan and a huge fan of these games, so I'm super excited to join you in your first Batman experience. Get ready to fall down the rabbit hole--these games literally make HUGE Batman fans out of the people who play them.
I kind of hate to start a new series without finishing the last one, but I've been unable to find 3 and half hours of time to get through the last episode of Lost Legacy yet. But I've been really looking forward to this one and can't wait another day to see your playthrough of it. I'll get to the Lost Legacy ending in a couple of weeks probably when I'm taking time off of work for a little stay at home vacation to fight work burnout. By the way I'm not complaining that the episode of Lost Legacy is over 3 hours long. This is your hobby, and you're putting in the effort to play, edit and upload. My part in this is easy, so you can make the videos as long or as short as you like. I'll find the time eventually, so keep on putting the videos out. Your subscribers appreciate it. Thank you.
Take your time ☺️ the vids aren’t going anywhere and you can enjoy them at whatever time is best. I usually watch super super long videos in chunks, so an hour in my mornings sometimes, I like it
In a sea of gushing on Kevin and Mark, here’s another one. I was absolutely enthralled and happy by them doing the acting for these two roles once again. However I’m now a little sad again, RIP Kevin Conroy, you are still very much missed.
I am so excited to get to watch you play this game. I am a huge Batman fan, and this game absolutely blew me away when it came out. I am really going to love getting to re-experience this game again through you. I hope you fall in love with it and continue through the whole trilogy.
I loved this episode so much! It makes me happy to see you play a game that's so very precious to me. Batman is my favorite superhero, and when I was a kid this game is what really got me into the mythos of Batman. I knew a lot of the popular characters, but I never knew characters like Zsasz, or that Batgirl became Oracle for example. This game is what really made me obsessed with Batman as a kid lol. I really hope you enjoy this game! I know that those Riddler Trophies being inaccessible really bugged you, but don't worry you can come back to every area in Arkham Asylum! Riddler's puzzles are one of my favorite parts of this game, because I love puzzles too, and they become quite varied the more you explore Arkham...
Hi Phoenix Nat--found the channel through this playthrough. Wanted to thank you for acknowledging Kevin Conroy and Arleen Sorkin at the top of the video. Kevin, particularly, had such a truly deep connection with his fans, and as a massive fan of his work, I always love seeing him get the recognition he so deserved for the role.
City and Origins are probably my favorites in the series! Highly recommend you play them all but definitely take your time and explore the world, it really rewards your exploration in those 2 games especially.
I love this game. Completed it last week on hard mode. I completed it on hard back on the 360 so I had to try to do it again on my Series X. I'm really looking forward to this play through. Hope you love it as much as I do Nat.
Let’s go Wez!! I’ve really enjoyed it so far, I’ve always loved how dark and gritty Batman is, and the game is doing a very good job on the world building, I love it!
The Batman Arkham games remasters are not bad, but the lighting, character models, and cutscenes have completely taken away all the joy from the originals cutscenes. But the positive aspect is that the gameplay is good and the objects in the background look stunning.
As a massive Batman fan, these games are some of my favorites ever. They handle the lore so well, and I love how dark and gritty they are (there really is a coziness about it, lol)! I think the Arkham games are some of the best game series in existence. Not super in to comics, but I love Batman. Don't worry, you can drive in Arkham Knight
25:11 - 25:45 Well, kind of: you skipped the opportunity to talk with guard when you went to other way first. Had you went to guard first, he would have commented how he's trying to open the door behind, and then you would have heard through guard's radio about Zsasz, and after that guard would have pointed the way you need to go.
cant wait to watch more! these games only get better and better. i personally prefer the original version of this game, it has a creepier feeling than the remastered, something they changed with the colors.
Adore these games. Very much inspired heavily by the Batman: Animated Series (1992) with the shows writer Paul Dini actually writing the story of Arkham Asylum. It also features many of the same voice actors as well from Kevin Conroy as Batman, Mark Hamill as Joker, and Arleen Sorkin as Harley Quinn. Quinn is actually a character created for the Animated Series first appearing 1992 and being based on voice actor Arleen Sorkins. She would later make her way into the comics with Batman: Harley Quinn #1 (1999) written by Paul Dini himself. The show had a more 1930s retro futuristic direction. It was set in the 1990s but had 1930s style vehicles, fashion mixed with computers and voice recorders etc. Gotham itself was very Art Deco, dubbed Dark Deco by the show runners giving the city a unique look. The games have a more 2000s feel but still maintain a very retro look as well pulling from a range of decades, something you'll notice much more in the later games, Arkham Asylum of course is very focused on the Asylum itself than Gotham City. Also alot of this credit goes to Tim Burton's Batman 89 which re-invented the look of Gotham City into this Art Deco, Gothic landscape all crafted by Anton Furst. This went on to inspire Gotham in the comics, Animated Series, and of course the Arkham games.
I did not know that Quinn came from the animated series first - I just assumed she’d been created in the comics first. Shows how strong of a character she was!
Hi Nat great video these games are so good they have a great dark atmosphere which does make it cozy love dark atmospheric games. the Joker's laugh is funny.
The combat in this game is very similar to the combat in the Spider-Man games. So much so that I had been replaying one of the Batman games in this series and started playing the Spider-Man game as well. The big difference between the two is that in this series the counter button is triangle and in Spider-Man it's circle. I had to stop playing Batman until I finished Spider-Man because I was getting my ass beat in both games, because I would get used to countering with triangle in one game. Then switch to the other and forget that it was circle in that one. Then I would get used to that and then switch back to the other and repeat. A lot of deaths in both games for a bit.
One thing you can do after doing an inverted takedown of an enemy is that you can throw a Batarang and cut the rope causing the enemy to fall. It's difficult to pull off but I was able to drop an enemy onto another enemy doing that. Also, if you cut the rope causing the enemy to fall, it will free up that gargoyle to be able to use it again to do another Inverted Takedown from it.
@@PhoenixNat If you don't want to attempt during the playthrough, there are challenge maps that you can try cool moves on. A quick tip though: If they enemies on the ground are looking up at the enemy that is hanging don't try and cut the rope then. The enemy on the ground will just dodge out of the way. Otherwise, it's just about being patient and getting the timing correct. It can take a long time for another enemy to walk directly underneath the guy hanging.
You probably have found this out by now, but, in answer to your question, should I stealth, what is the right way? There is no "right" way, there may be better ways, but it mainly depends on what you feel comfortable with. The game opens many avenues when tackling a problem, so play the game the way you feel suits you. There is no right or wrong way, it's mostly all just a choice, when it comes to combat.. You're doing fine, and as others have said, there is much backtracking in this game... very much.
Harley first debuted in the animated show ep called Joker’s favor, all the way back in 1992. Her and Renee Montoya were pulled from the show and put in the comics. You should check it out
Don't worry about not being able to get all the collectibles immediately, some of them will require gadgets that you won't get until much later on. Also wait a bit until you get some of the bigger fights before you decide what to do with difficulty. Normal is quite forgiving, but it might be better for let's play than hard where you'll die quickly if you don't focus fully.
Hi you will love the Batman Arkham series one game which is Batman Arkham origins is not rocksteady but that game is awesome after this game is over play city then origins and the last game knight but I just witness this channel and was wondering how do you do your gameplay and another recommend game you should play in the future if you haven’t gta 5 story mode
hope you like this game! ive seen so many people play this game and it's always a delight! Hope you play the Arkham City, Origins, and Knight as well! All of them are amazing!
Menus give a lot away, mechanics coming up, tools etc, I’ll only check things like options, accessibility and graphics etc - that’s probably why most don’t check, otherwise it’s hard to have a genuine reaction. Glad you enjoyed it ✌🏼
Just to get you started on the right foot regarding "free flow" combat in these games, since it's a bit unique: Try to just hit the attack button once per thug while pointing the left stick in the direction of that thug and don't button mash. If someone is about to hit you between strikes, make sure to press the counter button once. Using the evade move in order to vault over a thug a bunch helps a ton as well, as it doesn't drop your combo. The games are a lot more fun if you can get good at the system and get really high combos while incorporating quick gadgets and get to use special combo moves. It's been hard for other LPers to get the hang of it. And regarding stealth sections: try to get creative with your takedowns, rather than just sneaking up behind people or glide kicking them. It will make the game a lot more fun if you utilize gadgets and surroundings in different ways. The challenges you unlock along the way can help you learn new ways to take people out. Have fun!
The combat is similar to other stuff I’ve played, so I’m enjoying finding that perfect timing, counters and parry like move sets, gadgets are next to get good at! And keeping my combo meter up!! I’ve only had one meltdown in a stealth section so far, I think it’ll be episode 6 😅
@@PhoenixNat Ok cool, so you're already pretty far in. That means I probably don't need to tell you that you can just tap LT to quick batarang the chattering teeth and enemies w/o aiming. Also, the game never tells you, but you can go to the penitentiary visitor's center (where goons are always building a giant joker face outside) throughout the game and have fireside convos with Joker. It's kind of a series of fun easter eggs. Don't mean to sound like some weird gatekeeper either, I just like to see people get the full experience from one of my favorite games of all time.
I don't mind some nudges to make sure I don't miss stuff, or things I just don't seem to be grasping. In the next episode or 2 you'll see me get super confused about how the batarang went from aim and hold to just tap, but I get it now, I promise hahah
Ok, interesting start. I'm a bit late and don't know how far you are right now. But I hope you'll figure much sooner than many other players I watched how to get the combo meter going up (I know it's not very easy in this first game, it gets better with City, but still, some are still mashing up the buttons while almost at the end of the game, and wonder why they can't get a combo high up, it can get annoying quite quickly). Same goes for the stealth rooms, hope you'll find soon enough that patience is rewarded, and can understand by yourself (and by your observations) the behaviors of the enemies in those rooms. Here again, it could be annoying when a player just rush through rooms brute forcing their way, not caring a second that the games hint you to be quiet, patient, and methodical. Don't know if you plan to record it for the LP, but you'll gonna unlock challenges while progressing the game, and in any case, I strongly suggest that you play them to get good. The combat challenges will force you to master the combat flow, and the predator challenges will teach you nice ways of taking down enemies you can very much use in your playthrough.
This is great, I can ask about the challenges without spoiling myself! So, I was wondering when I might try them? I’m definitely not a button masher, and you’ll see in episodes to come I wait a long time to pick my moments. But I was wondering, if I do challenges now, will it spoil anything for the game? I’m about 2/3s of the way through
@@PhoenixNat You can do them whenever you want, there's no risk of spoiling yourself anything, as they unlock only after you passed the place they are set in, and don't use any kind of henchmen you haven't encounter at the point you unlock them. The same goes for the other games of the series. with the twist that some Predator challenges of the next games may require optional equipment upgrades to get the 3 stars/medals
Welcome to the arkham games . Remember that breaking the joker teeth gives you xp points to get upgrades . Always use your detective vision when you enter areas to see how many enemies you have to deal with .
You triggered the script when Batman started talking with Oracle for the first time (right before you get to Zsasz) so that's why you couldn't talk to that guard anymore behind who was previously shouting on Batman in Intense Treatment location.
The whole Arkham triligy (Asylum, City & Knight) are great games. They showcase a very different Batman. This the Dark Knight version. Darker, moody, violent to a point. Joker is not some happy go lucky trickster. He's a maniacal killer. Mark Hamill was awesome as Joker her too. Some folks will probably ask you to play Arkham Origins. Do so if you want, of course. Just know that it has no connection to this series. Origins was made by a different developer and has very little in common with the trilogy game play wise.😊

Bruce Wayne is a good 12 years into his adventures as Batman. So Batman already has a long history with these characters, very similar to Marvel's Spider-Man (2018) which featured a 23 year old Peter Parker 8 years into his adventures as Spider-Man. So they'll be plenty of references to storylines from the comics that already happened but like Marvel's Spider-Man this is very much it's own universe that just has a similar history to what we know from the comics.
Just press the button again to turn off detective mode, and the map doesn't show where trophies are by default but there is a way if you explore. You learn abilities as you go along. You've just gone up the stairs and didn't look around in detective mode or see the slightly flashing film container/tape. As to your difficulty question hard to say you haven't done anything hard yet this is almost the tutorial. You are worrying too much though just relax and enjoy the game.
When creators relax and enjoy the game how they want, they get hurled abuse in the comments section for not doing it right 😂 I’m a good bit ahead in the game and find my feet with game play pretty quick and enjoy it lot! ☺️
Hi Nat, I'm glad to see that you are playing this series. Arkham City is one of the best superhero games of all time, if not the best. One question, is this the remastered version on Ps4/5? I only ask because the remastered version of the series has a list of known issues that you may want to look into before you keep going. Just thought it was worth mentioning, but best of luck.
Hard mode is a normal mode from the past games that were created. I think you'll be alright on harder difficulty. It makes you think more. On Normal mode this game is like walking in the park. Not challenging.
I prefer to play these kinda games on normal. I mean, I'm a superhero, I want to feel like a superhero 😅 You should be thorough, I've seen at least one thing you "missed", but you can get it later. The only thing that is misable is a few achievements.
🔥🦢🔥🦢🔥🦢 great video very enjoyable and entertaining it was fun watching you play our favorite superhero Bruce Batman Wayne i must say you're amazing 2 watch I'm thinking about subscribing hahaha haha😂😂😂🦇🦇🦇🦇
❤❤. If anything about Batman Arkham Asylum,,,,,,please do let me know. Respectfully I say before you. Its my pleasure to help you out in any i can. 🎉❤🎉
@@PhoenixNat Yay. Some people skip it because it wasn't made by Rocksteady and it is a little buggy. However Origins has a lot to offer, it's story is a masterpiece prequel and the boss fights are the best in the series, the DLC Cold Cold Heart is widely thought of as the best DLC of the series taking it's story from an award winning episodes of the animated series. Overall Origins is an experience I wouldn't want you to miss and of course what happens in Origins is canon to the whole series.
Hey 🔥 🦢 how are you doing this series is gonna be 🔥🔥🔥 enjoyable and entertaining hey 🔥🦢 you went mad with this 1 I'm also a Batman fan this is gonna be fun

I might need to see some TH-cam footage, I get what you mean, sometimes remasters are too clean
Good start Nat, looking forward to more, and, yes I suggest you up the difficulty.
I did the first boss, I’m good for now 😂 it wasn’t so bad, but, I’ll keep it chill for this game while I’m learning ☺️
You're going to be hearing that little intercom bell/jingle in your sleep.
I had it as my notification sound for years 😂
The combat in this game is very similar to the combat in the Spider-Man games.
That seems like a challenge I want to attempt!
Awesome LFG !!! , I've been waiting for the Batman Arkham games to start you are gonna love the Arkham games Nat they are awesome 🤘🔥🦇
It’s finally here!! I can see why you’ll recommended it. Thanks for being patient and sticking around until I could finally play 🙏🏼
@@PhoenixNat Hell Yeah ! and No Problem ! 🙌🤘🔥🦇🦇🦇
Hi TH-cam you, big new fan! Loved this series of games ❤
Hello 👋🏼
You probably have found this out by now, but, in answer to your question, should I stealth, what is the right way? There is no "right" way, there may be better ways, but it mainly depends on what you feel comfortable with. The game opens many avenues when tackling a problem, so play the game the way you feel suits you. There is no right or wrong way, it's mostly all just a choice, when it comes to combat..
You're doing fine, and as others have said, there is much backtracking in this game... very much.
Always nice to see an upload from ya! Looking forward to this series 😀
Harley first debuted in the animated show ep called Joker’s favor, all the way back in 1992. Her and Renee Montoya were pulled from the show and put in the comics. You should check it out
I will do! All these little notes are helping build the world for me and get up to speed
Yeh, I realise a few more episodes after a harder fight that I’m happy just enjoying the flow of the combat, I don’t need a challenge 🤣
One of the best gaming series 👌
YES.... I can not wait for you to play the other BATMAN Arkham games. City, Origins, and Knight.
I will definitely play them all, I’m totally hooked and living in this world for the next few months 😁
Rip Kevin Conroy ❤
Similar to other streamer, I don't understand why people never check out the control buttons menu before starting the game. Liked your video ^^
Batlegs! Everyone else gets the weirdest bugs that I’ve never seen before.
😂 you saw that?
Oh yes! I’ve been doing all that ☺️☺️
You triggered the script when Batman started talking with Oracle for the first time (right before you get to Zsasz) so that's why you couldn't talk to that guard anymore behind who was previously shouting on Batman in Intense Treatment location.
New sub here, I love the Arkham Series! 🦇
Welcome!! :)
Look up. Make sure to listen too. There are Easter eggs everywhere
I'm a huge fan of yours ❤❤
🙌🏼💃🏻

Bruce Wayne is a good 12 years into his adventures as Batman. So Batman already has a long history with these characters, very similar to Marvel's Spider-Man (2018) which featured a 23 year old Peter Parker 8 years into his adventures as Spider-Man. So they'll be plenty of references to storylines from the comics that already happened but like Marvel's Spider-Man this is very much it's own universe that just has a similar history to what we know from the comics.
After playing a bit more, I think I make this comparison, or at least I did in my head 😅
Considering you love puzzle games, the next video will start with something you'll enjoy.
👀
Phoenix Nat im left handed too
🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇 welcome to the Arkham Verse 💯
🦇 feels real cosy
Just press the button again to turn off detective mode, and the map doesn't show where trophies are by default but there is a way if you explore. You learn abilities as you go along. You've just gone up the stairs and didn't look around in detective mode or see the slightly flashing film container/tape. As to your difficulty question hard to say you haven't done anything hard yet this is almost the tutorial. You are worrying too much though just relax and enjoy the game.
When creators relax and enjoy the game how they want, they get hurled abuse in the comments section for not doing it right 😂
I’m a good bit ahead in the game and find my feet with game play pretty quick and enjoy it lot! ☺️
Oh and BTW, the game doesn’t tell you this, can talk to NPCs to gain more story and game lore.
Yeh, I’ve been making sure to try exhausted dialogue as much as possible
Hi Nat, I'm glad to see that you are playing this series. Arkham City is one of the best superhero games of all time, if not the best. One question, is this the remastered version on Ps4/5? I only ask because the remastered version of the series has a list of known issues that you may want to look into before you keep going. Just thought it was worth mentioning, but best of luck.
This is the Arkham collection game on PS5, the remaster I believe
Batman is asowesome 😁
Just like with the Spider-Man game there is a post credit scene at the end of this game.
Noted!
I came here for the Batman, stayed for your accent 👍
*sips very British tea* 🫖
Hard mode is a normal mode from the past games that were created. I think you'll be alright on harder difficulty. It makes you think more. On Normal mode this game is like walking in the park. Not challenging.
Have you started doing bioshock 2? I swear you had a video but its gone
It’s coming back and going to be uploaded as one video for the full game 🙏🏼
@@PhoenixNat oh does that mean you will have to cut loads out to make it all fit?
No no, it’ll be a super long video, probably around 7-10 hours ☺️
You probably don't want to do hard mode just yet. Some tricky bosses later on. You can try it out in the challenge modes, though. 😉
That’s cool you can try it out in challenge mode though, I haven’t touched that yet because I was worried about spoilers
I prefer to play these kinda games on normal. I mean, I'm a superhero, I want to feel like a superhero 😅
You should be thorough, I've seen at least one thing you "missed", but you can get it later. The only thing that is misable is a few achievements.
That is a good point, I never thought about it like that 😂
Btw u won't be able to change the difficulty unless u start the game over again
Takes me a couple episodes to realise 😅 but maybe next game? I’ll see how much I improve on combat
Welcome to Arkham Asylum Natasha.
It’s Natalie, mostly Nat.
AAAAAHHHHH 😍😍😍
WHIMSY! I’m already addicted 🤩🦇
@@PhoenixNat It's sooo good right?! I just finished the game last week and I loved it so much! The combat is addicting 😂
I only know combo meters now!
As long as people are enjoying it that’s what matters! ☺️
❤❤. If anything about Batman Arkham Asylum,,,,,,please do let me know. Respectfully I say before you. Its my pleasure to help you out in any i can. 🎉❤🎉
Are you going to play Arkham Origins?
Yes
@@PhoenixNat Yay. Some people skip it because it wasn't made by Rocksteady and it is a little buggy. However Origins has a lot to offer, it's story is a masterpiece prequel and the boss fights are the best in the series, the DLC Cold Cold Heart is widely thought of as the best DLC of the series taking it's story from an award winning episodes of the animated series.
Overall Origins is an experience I wouldn't want you to miss and of course what happens in Origins is canon to the whole series.
officer balls
Spoilers Bruce Wayne is Batman!

Hey 🔥 🦢 how are you doing this series is gonna be 🔥🔥🔥 enjoyable and entertaining hey 🔥🦢 you went mad with this 1 I'm also a Batman fan this is gonna be fun
