Sir I can see the pain and anger expressions at your face whenever you named Gen. Yahya and Ayub. Same feelings here. PAF will always be 2nd to None. Pakistab Paindabad. I have studied from PAF school while living in Base Faisal and I can feel the agony and eyes get wet whenever we talk about Bangladesh.

In 1971 war, Jordan sent to Pakistan its F-104s, Libya sent its F-5E Tiger IIs, Saudi Arabia reportedly sent a good number of F-86 Sabres plus more classified transfer of fighter aircrafts from friendly countries. All of these were deployed in West Pakistan. Shah of Iran was good friend of Pakistan and he could have easily loaned his new F-4D Phantom II fighter bombers for deployment in East Pakistan. The No.14 Squadron F-86s did not do any counter-air operations in 1971 from Dhaka. With a few F-4s doing the counter-air ops, interdictions and air defence, the outcome of the war could have been different. Shah of Iran had sent its Air Force to Vietnam to help the Americans and he would have certainly helped Pakistan.

Respected Chishti Sb1 I am an air enthusist and student of war history. Would you please throw light that why Pak Army failed to launch much trumpted Ground offencive in -spite of the fact we have ample resources in West Pakistan near Bahwal Nagar Sulemanki sector. For the ist time in history we have 1:1 ratio wheras the 4 Div of Indian troops were engaged in Shakar Garh sector. Though army is not your area of expertise but you must be knowing many of inside news, I request you to kindly to clear this mystery. In those days I being a student know many incidents As strike corpse of General Tikka Khan was scattered in and around Sahiwal city while he was himself has command H/Q in our College. Though not mature enough then but now the with the benefit of hind sight, I am trying to solve this mistory for the coming generations. Again requesting you to respond if possible. Thanks.

    Dear Chishti Sahib,
What happened in 71 cannot be viewed in a snapshot. The background includes absolute trampling of rights & running an unconstitutional and unrepresentative government by the dictator Ayub Khan for a decade. In fact, he had assumed the charge after the assassination of Liaqat Ali Khan. Him & his drunk head, and womanizing Generals are absolutely responsible for the debacle, we can’t overlook the role of ZA Bhutto, but the real power was with the Army Generals.
I really feel sorry for the men who fought bravely at the orders of drunk head Yahya, they were just doing what they were trained for. These men included Pakistan’s finest, and unadulterated PAF, which demonstrated its mettle in the air. I still remember seeing tears in my father’s eyes who had the distinction of being an officer in the PAF.
The current scenario tells me that unfortunately and very sadly, it seems that we haven’t learned from our previous mistakes.

Bhai saab Air Force had gotten a bad rep by destroying Pakistan CAA and PIA. You people are not learning your lesson. There is NO WAY Air Force people can even be considered for Civil Aviation sector. You are NOT qualified or trained for it.Yes aerial warfare you can do not run an airline. Its a business. Do the work that civilians pay you for.....
