- This is the fourth and last video documentary series by a former PAF fighter pilot, about the air war of 1971. Also watch for the first time the interview of Wing Commander Salim Baig Mirza, the only PAF pilot of the 1971 war, whose two kills have been acknowledged by the Indian Air Force. If we go back in history, PAF has been in the forefront of defending the motherland against India since its Independence. During the wars of 1965 and 1971, the PAF performed much more than it’s potential against a much larger air force. In 1971 full-scale war was fought in the western front, whereas India had planned a different game in the eastern command. The Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 was a major military confrontation between India and Pakistan. Fought on two fronts of the Indian subcontinent between 3 and 17 December 1971, it pitted two major conventional armed forces in an all-out war over the fate of former East Pakistan and resulted in the emergence of a new, independent nation of Bangladesh. In the West, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) initiated its involvement with an attack on the forward air bases of the Indian Air Force (IAF), on 3 December 1971. A series of major air battles followed over the primary conflict zones. In the East, the small PAF contingent was quickly neutralized by the IAF. When the war ended in West Pakistan on 17 December, PAF was still in the ring and on its feet. It had parried the enemy’s blows and had been ever so careful in its offensive responses. It continued to be fixated with remaining viable for providing complete air support to the Army’s all-important battle, which flowed out of the overarching dictum, ‘defense of the East lies in the West’. PAF’s overall performance can be gleaned from the fact that it managed to keep its aircraft attrition rate at par with the IAF. The PAF unmistakably denied a much stronger IAF the distinct possibility of delivering a knock-out punch to it. In the circumstances obtaining, this was a commendable achievement.

Blessed are the parents, who have their sons serving PAF. And each and every moment our pilots spend after joining PAF, is Ibadat. I have no words to describe my love for our pilots. I hope you all can hear my unspoken words and my indescribable sentiments.

Thank you Air Commodore, for giving much due credit to this fine man and fighter pilot. There were many such unsung heroes in PAF.

I have had an opportunity to witness the discussion of some senior pilots at a air base in 2003, each one crying to operate fighter aircraft against enemy's,I surprised to see their red eyes & shoutings,,, it's great honour for me to serve with such the brave gentlemen creem of the nation ,,,,,,,, thanks sir for golden memories

Wow, great chishti sb, we want more legends thanks
I was about 11 years old and a student at Lawrence College Murrê when the initial attack on Srinagar was done
It was either the 3rd or 4th of December when a number of these planes flying really low passed over our school and along the Eastern side of Murre and onwards to Kashmir.
Many thanks Mehdi sb for connecting to the historical narrative.

Sir ,Professional jealousy does exist and so it's victims .even MM Alam was not spared.iaf too suffering this.a global negative phenomenon.
One question always strikes in my mind that after knowing the feat of mr Saleem Baig, why he is still deprived from any reward?
Yes unfortunately
@@KhalidChishti sir, i had a prolonged discussion with Sajjad Haider sahab in this regard. He also requested for the reward to his achievement.

Sir tell about PAF actions in East Pakistan during 1971 war.
I already cover it in Dec 2022 as a series under the topic “ In the ring and in its feet “.
AssalamoelekumWaRehmatUllahHiWaBarakatuhu.SirKhalid ChistiSb if convenie nt what about Wng Comd S M Ahamad Shaheed fought 65 &71 War.
And Nirmal jeet and unke brother akele pure air field ko defend kar rhe Thai
Airforce k log zyada lagan say mulk ki khidmat kertay hain jab k army walay awam ko apna ghulam samajtay hain.
Let's talk about the KILO FLIGHT- how the Bangladesh Air Force destroyed the only two fuel depots in Chittagong and Narayanganj and basically put the PAF out of service in the Eastern theatre in Bangladesh. With one civillian aircraft and one civillian helicopter 😂😂
Sir when will you upload your new video? We are waiting
Working at it. Insha Allah. Thank you
