    Watch out for the machine gun fire. Crime is getting out of control around that Dutton ranch. :)
    I recall a large 160+ acre ranch was for sale down there about a year ago. It was an old rock and roller's but the name escapes me (def not Huey Lewis).

    That was pretty cool. We just dicovered Yellowstone this November and watched all 4 seasons faster than any other show weve ever watched lol. We were in Montana 6 yrs ago and stayed at the Parade Rest Ranch in West Yellowstone. The most beautiful place I've ever visited, I can't wait to come back.

    My husband and I rented a cabin about six miles south of Darby for a year and a half. It was on West Fork Road, just of Hwy 92, and it was a wonderful year and a half in many ways. (In some ways it was a difficult time, but I won’t go into the negatives because they pertain to circumstances that could happen anywhere.) One winter morning we were surprised by a herd of elk grazing right outside our back door! We saw the herd many times actually, but they were usually a little further away. We heard the males bugling in October at the beginning of the rut, usually around one in the morning, under the most star-filled sky I’ve ever seen. Deer were everywhere, and in springtime it was common to see a doe with a couple of spotted fawns wandering through town. There were eagles, ospreys, cranes, mountain lions, and of course coyotes. Coyotes were everywhere, though you seldom saw them. We never saw bears or wolves, although friends had plenty of stories to tell about these species.
    There’s so much more to tell. I haven’t mentioned the tall, majestic pines, mountains, or how everything changes and transforms with the seasons. I won’t get into the reasons we moved away, but we miss Montana a lot and plan to move back next summer. It has a certain magic that no other place I’ve lived shares.

    I lived on this ranch in 1961-62. I knew it as the Z bar three (Z - 3) I started 1st grade here in the two room school. One room was 1st grade the other was second grade. Our house on the ranch was on the opposite side of the small pasture by the big lodged. Mom complained about the elk getting into her clothes line. Population in Darby has gotten way out of control. Itit's about double what it was back then. There were no permanent roads or houses from the barnyard straight West until you hit Western Idaho. Great place for kids to grow. Lots of adventure. Don't know how Mom survived.

    I was looking around the Dutton Ranch, from the road . I was driving slow and didn't notice a Ram Laramie Longhorn easing up behind me , even through my blacked out windows of my late model panel van I could see it was Rip ! I got the hill out of there and never went back !

    My family has a ranch right by there, we had it before filming started, but it’s pretty cool. Like you said, they did have to add a lot more fences and gates because people were sneaking in. We actually share a common area with chief Joseph so we can still see the Yellowstone barn

    Thanks for the tour! I used to live in Great Falls. My best friend and I used to go to Hamilton and stay with her spinster aunt for a week at a time when we were teenagers. I just loved it there. Her aunt (Helen Carruthers) was the county clerk of Ravalli county in 1967. She would take us to visit her friend, Glenn Hackney who owned a horse ranch south of town and he would let us ride his horses. We would ride them on the farm roads for hours and had the best time there. The Bitterroot Valley is absolutely beautiful! My friend’s mother and sister (the aunt) grew up in Hamilton. Her aunt would take us all over the area and show us around. We even had a turkey dinner picnic in Blodgett Canyon in the middle of summer! Some of my best memories were spent there. Nice small town with friendly people. I miss it. Your tour brought all the memories back. Thank you.

      @@LivinginMontana1 When I watched the first few episodes I knew the house looked familiar and I couldn't figure out where until I found out the location. Now when I watch it I recognize all the ranch locations. Some has changed a bit over the last 35 years, but it is still the same place. Definitely a unique piece of beauty in the Bitterroot Valley and a highlight of God's creation.

    My brother and his friends, used to put on a costume and play Bigfoot, on that hill at Chief Joseph Ranch. They had so much fun, and the stories they told were hysterical! Different people had different reactions, and to hear him tell about it was so funny. It was funny right up until someone called the police anyway, and he had to go into the cold river across the highway to get away from the dogs chasing him. He did make it to the other side of the river, and got away.

    @Hillary a friend of mine is telling me i should get a "Buying agent" instead of contacting a Realtor, he says the buying agent represents / works for you, where as a realtor is working for the seller, is that correct?

    • @LivinginMontana1
      @LivinginMontana1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really. A Realtor can be either a buyers agent or a sellers agent. Montana allows dual agency so if you want someone truly representing only you, get a buyers agent, not the agent that has the house listed.

    Thanks for the nice video, however, where is the so-called “train station” located in Montana? I am referring to the place where the Dutton’s get rid of their “undesirable’s”, a place in Montana/Wyoming with no political oversight.

    • @LivinginMontana1
      @LivinginMontana1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are many train stations along the northern tier of Montana. The train follows Highway 2 across Montana. You can catch the Amtrak in most of the small towns up there. We have a large station here in Whitefish.

    • @crokeralan58
      @crokeralan58 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol that train station would be just north of us 20 around the Montana Idaho Wyoming borders.

    • @crokeralan58
      @crokeralan58 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LivinginMontana1 that is not what they mean by train station by the way.

    • @dondavidson3440
      @dondavidson3440 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The actual “train station” is inside of Yellowstone park. There is a small piece of land that has no county/state jurisdiction, therefore no sherrif, judge, no people for a jury. Therefore the only applicable law is whatever is Federal law. However, due to this small oversight, jurisdiction has been granted to the state of Wyoming so in reality, there is no real “train station”.
