For next year, I vote that Rex receives a classic turkey leg. I think she deserves to sample the main course and there's less mess to clean up afterwards. 😉
Hammy is such a, well... ham! I couldn't stop smiling watching him chow down, what a little gift he is. The personalities on beardies are just so endearing!
I know right? That's one of the main reasons I went with a bearded dragon over a gecko for my first reptile. Plus, with an omnivore, I can try loads of different things to see if he likes it or not. My beardie's likes and dislikes so far are: Likes: Insects Greens Red bell pepper Bok choy Dandelion flowers Pansies Marigolds Banana Reptile Pellets Grapes Zucchini Red Cabbage Dislikes: Apples Orchids Fruit gel
@@LS-xy7zt Of course intestine would be safe for a gator. I've never seen a gator gutting it's prey to avoid eating the intestine. So if it's cleaned to be used for human consumption it should be perfectly safe for an alligator.
That would be an amazing April fools type segment! Framing it as a regular cooking show and not commenting on all the reptile-safe alterations at all would be a great joke.
I once made two regular pumpkin pies, and totally forgot to put sugar in them. They tasted awful, but my dogs loved them. I sliced up the pie and put it back into the oven on low heat to dry them out, and the dogs had treats for the next two weeks.
I know your comment is from 8 months ago but I have done the same thing💀 I thought that the pumpkin was the pre seasoned pumpkin. It was in fact not seasoned or sweet what so ever😭 so you’re not alone!
I feel so bad for ham sandwich, but him diving right into the green bean casserole was the funniest thing that I've seen a beardie do. I own a bearded dragon and he doesn't eat his salad unless I give him a bug first. I got him on 8/20/2023 as a three-year-old, the poor guy didn't have a UVB light and I'm so thankful that he din't have MBD. Happy thanksgiving to you guys and all the reptiles!
i'm excited for when you announce a reptile safe cooking book! i hope you guys calculate the recipes in small portions since not everyone has a zoo to feed
I loved seeing Cheyenne's eyes dilate when she tried the new food. ❤😊 Allie was hilarious. Maybe they could set up an eating area close to a hose outside of her enclosure for Rex to get messy and make cleanup easier.
The cutting board is kind of a genius product to sell. I imagine there's a lot of people that are prepping food for their animals that they don't necessarily want on their own cutting boards. Now their pets can have their own!
And my reptiles have a larger menu this year last year they loved the bugkin pie.. and Emily just randomly staring at the snakes cloaca.. hammy is my new favorite bearded dragon!! 😂😂 He LOVED the dinner and he is amazing!
i love how instead of picking one group or the other to piss off by saying "casserole" or "hotdish" they split the difference and made everyone unhappy /lh
The: "Yur actually going to eat that?" "Let me know how you feel in 2 hours" at 11:43 got me cracking up, Snake Discovery never fails to brighten my day ❤❤
I feel like ally's eating has gotten so much better than when we first saw her eat with you guys. It just shows that the right care for any animal can go a long way!
Random relative drops by for a visit. They see with glee that Thanksgiving preparations are underway. In their enthusiasm, they decide to sneak a taste. "I think your cooking needs work," they say to a baffled Ed and Emily.
I'm also of the opinion that wine is gross an sparkling grape just is better. My family have never been big drinkers so it's our special thing to fill some fancy cups with sparkling juice for our New Year's toast.
Maybe for next year if you do the sweet potato again, what about making some small balls of it with all the crunches on the outside to give to Rex and maybe the rest too. That way it's all in one spot and won't have the crust that Rex doesn't like. I love Ally's reaction ❤ it was so funny and reminds me of my dad when we eat. Everything all at once.
I absolutely loved watching the reptiles with the pumpkin pie last year, I'm sure this will be just as wonderful. Thank you for all your hard work and for all the love you give. Lots of love ❤
This was so cute, it's hard to pick a fave. I'm glad that Thanksgiving with the reptiles is turning into a thing. I love Halloween, so it's so nice to see Thanksgiving following in its reptile themed path. Just kind of cozy to see y'all cook for and feed the animals with such love, humor, and care.
4:00 Now I'm not sure if this would work for reptiles, but I know that you can use ground flaxseeds and water as an egg substitute. All you need to do is add a 1:1 ratio of ground flaxseeds and water to a separate container, let that sit so that it can thicken up and you're good to go. If flaxseeds are a no-go then things like pumpkin purée, applesauce or mashed bananas can also work.
My toddler absolutely loved watching the bugkin pie video last year. I can’t even count how many times she’s watched it. 😂 I’m sure she’ll love this one, too. Happy Thanksgiving, guys!
@@tenshikaren Thankfully my daughter has always loved green beans, one of the FEW vegetables she likes. 😂 Sweet potatoes, too! But she’ll definitely get a kick out of seeing the reptiles eating them. It’s really good advice for picky eaters! 👍
When we were kids, I told my sister that French fried onions were cricket chunks, just so I could gross her out and have more of the onions to myself. She has hated onions ever since, that and the texture of onions
I’m obsessed with Rex she is literally the cutest gator ever. I remember the vid announcing you had an alligator in your basement lol. I can’t wait to come see her in the zoo one day. Also as soon as you put that cat food in the oven I knew it smelled crazy in there
omg you and Ed should go on "im a celebrity get me out of here" there is LOTS of snakes and spiders on it and also im a huge fan and im getting your merch soon! (Thanks for recommending "wings of fire" its really good)
This just certifies my love of tegus! That's the first reptile on my list to get some day, since they're cat-to-dog sized, omnivorous, and just SO CUTE with their lil faces! XD Ed saying, "You want to explain your alligator to me?" Is a highlight of this video LOL
I don't know if any gelatin like things are reptile safe, but I wonder if next year you could make some sort of gelatin-ized mix of the foods for Rex since she didn't like the crust. It would maybe be neater than just slopping scoops of things in because it could be shaped, but wouldn't have an additional flavor or texture that she might not like. But this is just an idea that may have no merit but i figured I'd throw it in. I know mammal based zoos will often freeze food into ice to be able to shape it but the cold might not be great for cold blooded creatures and their digestions so I was trying to brainstorm something that could be set into a shape in a similar but not so cold way.
Should be safe, at least if you use regular gelatine. Gelatine is basically just natural regular collagen and that's something a gator would get on a regular diet anyways. I wouldn't risk it with plant based jelly alternatives though, just to be save.
I dont know if its just me but Rex looks like she has gotten fuller/bigger since being at the new spot. Also question, I miss seeing more interactions with Rex! I remember when she was in that room! you guys made the best possible for her!
Anyone else wondering how Emily can chop those sweet potatoes with that huge kitchen knife, but she can't be trusted to open mail with safety scissors? Edit: less than a minute later, Emily says "Ed is the chef in this family." That makes so much more sense.
For next year, I vote that Rex receives a classic turkey leg. I think she deserves to sample the main course and there's less mess to clean up afterwards. 😉
Just think of the after holiday mark downs! She could have a whole bird minus the paper/plastic bag for giblets
@@katiekane5247 she would think she died and went to gator heaven!
Absolutely! But maybe no traditional seasoning. Most aren't safe for reptiles.
I agree
Cooked bones are a no no so they can give her raw turkey. Turkey neck that has ben smashed a bit would be great for Rex.
Ally was like ‘this is my chance, THANKSGIVINGS DINNER!!!’
Yesss ally inhaled it
@@CheesyMonke37 Na, Ally was storming (but in a good way) when she saw that😅

That was adorable
Allie knows the correct way to eat Thanksgiving dinner.
Absolutely 😂
She does!😂

Yep: all over the place!!!😂😂
I read this comment as it happened and I started cackling. She just went in full send.
Aquafaba (chickpea juice) is often used as an egg substitute and might work in future herbivore dishes. :)
For further clarification, it’s the liquid from canned chickpeas.
Or any bean/fava/faba.
Ground flaxseed or chia seed left to soak in a bit of water for a few minutes can also be used as an egg substitute in some recipes.
I was going to suggest unsweetened applesauce or mashed banana.
Aquafaba also whips up like egg whites
The best part of the cooking is Ed getting slowly more and more concerned about what Emily is feeding him when she cooks.
Hammy is such a, well... ham! I couldn't stop smiling watching him chow down, what a little gift he is. The personalities on beardies are just so endearing!

Have you tried stuffing “sausage casings” that are safe for gators to eat so you could make holiday sausages? It may contain the mess!
Reminds me of Reptilinks!
Great idea
Intestines are the OG sausage casing, those should be reptile safe!
You underestimate Rex XD
@@LS-xy7zt Of course intestine would be safe for a gator. I've never seen a gator gutting it's prey to avoid eating the intestine. So if it's cleaned to be used for human consumption it should be perfectly safe for an alligator.

Ally certainly does love Thanksgiving and she practically inhale so much food. Reminds the food coma every holiday.
How did the tortoises like theirs? I was looking forward to seeing Sharon try her sweet potatoes.
Ah I can't believe I didn't notice they got forgotten. Bummer
