Wait, so is Claud a dentist or an orthodontist? Or is that the same thing in the UK? In the U.S. dentists do cleanings, fillings, general tooth care and orthodontists specifically do braces and things like that #confused
Beautiful woman has a beautiful dentist. In the 50's my dentist pulled all of my front first teeth so my adult set would come in properly. I made out like a bandit with the tooth fairy that night. Also, thank you for the info on G.B. handicap laws.
Can you too be any cuter? Seriously. Awwwwww the love that radiates from you both just makes me hopeful when I get married soon. And yeah, love the vintage look.
Oh, I took mine like 7 years ago. I still can remember this feeling of freedom and the tongue doing that all the time, because it's really smooth again! You're lucky that it was only 9 months, mine were for 2 years! I lost my upper retainer twice so my dentist gave up on making another one, but I still have on my lower teeth more wire holding them on place. And yeah, it's good to have a clear and not crooked smile after all of the trouble. Congrats!
Can we please talk about how hot Claudia looks in scrubs??!! I cannot decide who is more lucky to have the other! swoooooooning like watching a tennis match.
Just got my cfast braces on this week and the pain of them rubbing against the inside of my mouth is unbearable. These old vids from Jessica have kept me sane.
I've never seen the kind of new fixed retainer you have! I'm a dental hygienist so it's all very interesting and relevant to me. By the way you're fulfilling my queer girl dreams -- a hot dentist wife 😍😍 you two are great!
I’ve been doing just the retainers for almost the last year and it’s really not that bad because you swap them out each week and so the movement is still quite gradual. Also, the plastic is relatively soft. The main reason I got the retainers over the braces myself was so that I could still eat whatever I wanted 😊
I know this is an older video, but I have been watching lots of videos on your channel. I am really enjoying learning about you and the different aspects of your life. I'm commenting because I've had bracket braces as well as the retainer/invisalgn style of braces. I much preferred the retainer style, because you can take them out to eat and it's easier to clean them really well. I found the brackets more painful and harder on my teeth and lips. The trays are more of an ordeal for the tongue, but it adjusts quickly. Like you described, at first with the trays it is painful but the pain goes away in about 24-48 hours. As you move onto later trays, sometimes it barely hurts at all because your teeth have become used to moving around. Edit: I also wanted to add, the main thing I wanted to fix during my adult braces time was the snaggletooth of my two front teeth (one overlapping the other). Now that they are straight, one is slightly longer than the other but I'm not planning on shaving it down. I'm hoping they'll wear down together naturally, but if not I don't mind.
I actually had clear braces back in 2006- before they were really a thing- they were really expensive and made of porcelain. The rubber bands were the only part that yellowed. Thankfully, my orthodontist was within walking distance from my home and they would change them. Later in, I had to get veneers because my theory were narrow on the bottom and I kept cutting my mouth- totally worth it! I can smile without hurting myself!!! So grateful for my parents! They tell me I can pay them back with grandchildren.
okay i'm late to this but i got braces 2 days ago and i've been feeling quite insecure about them since i'm 19 and all of my friends had braces years ago and don't need them anymore, so it's really comforting to see another person getting braces as an adult!! my braces are a bit more intense than yours i think because i have them on my top and bottom teeth and they're attached to these metal rings on my molars. but thank you for the great video, it made me feel a lot better!! youtube has been recommending me a bunch of videos about braces haha
oh my gosh i found your channel a couple days ago and i cannot stop watching your videos!!!!! i love your energy and how candid you are about your disabilities and your love. sending many hugs your way! xo
Does your mouth feel super slimy? I remember when I first got my braces off after having them on for a year or so, my mouth felt so slimy because I wasn't used to the feeling of my teeth touching the inside of my lips haha.
+Oh Trisarahtops! I wouldn't say 'slimy' but my teeth do feel pretty weird... The best way to floss with the fixed retainer is on the front: holding the floss vertically and pressing it down between the teeth. Then you can use an interdental cleaner at the gum line which will go through to the other side and under the retainer xxx
Thank you for your braces videos Jessica! I'm getting CFast in (precisely) three weeks and I'm really excited to start the journey to a smile I don't want to hide in photos! I had braces as a teenager too and then didn't wear my retainers for long enough. Wear your retainers kids! Your videos and Instagram posts helped convince me! So thank you to both you and Claudia for that! Nervous and excited and dreading the ache x
Hi! I am definitely so happy that I got them done, so I am very glad to hear you are really excited. Let me know how it goes or if you have any more questions 😁
I personally had braces twice (both times "train tracks"). Once at 10 years old (just the top teeth like you), and then again at 14-15-ish. I sucked my thumb as a child, so #guiltyascharged! But because my first orthodontist had only done my top teeth at the time; all my non-milk teeth had already come in so we knew how much space we were dealing with #earlybloomer (I also got my wisdom teeth out at 14 too, cause you know...super wise here! 😂😜). Anyway, once the set came off, she had misjudged and my lower teeth (which were wider at the back) kept moving my top teeth during the day (when I wasn't wearing the plastic thingy). So every night my top teeth would be realigned by the plastic thingy and re-moved during the day from trying to fit in with my lower teeth. I was seriously worried all my teeth would just fall out from the constant movement, for so many years, to be honest! 😭 But I got a new orthodontist, and this time both upper and lower teeth were done and I'm happy to say they perfectly aline now 🤗 and I couldn't be happier (plus it was super quick, since most of the straightening job had already been done and I wore the elastics when asked too...unlike some of my classmates which then made them have them on for longer 🙄 "Don't avoid the elastics, kids!"). Ohhh I still remember that feeling when I had my second set removed...it was sooo smooth and no more mouth ulcers/sores, YAY!!! 🎉🤗 But yes, like you, I did have one of my teeth ending up slightly "longer" from non-wearing down, and I left it, but it did eventually chip from knocking my bottom teeth (since all the pressure was going on there because my upper teeth were not all the same length) and I wish I had shaved it off a bit instead, since with a chip you can't really control how much comes off unfortunately, but oh well! Anyway, just wanted to say this was a super informative video Jessica, I'm sure loads of people will find it so helpful and reassuring! 👏☺️ Plus, ten years on (26 now) and I'm still wearing my plastic thingy for one night, once a month, and it still fits more or less perfectly. With micro-movements, one cannot stress enough how important it is to keep wearing those things for a very loooong time after the treatment is "done"! One of my friends didn't bother with the gradual reduction of wearing it at night, and her teeth moved back...which is very unfortunate and such a waste of money 😓 P.S. Sorry for this essay of a comment, I'll do better next time! 😅
My sister had braces for only 7 months because she would double or triple up on the elastics. I never wore mine and had to get metal springs put into my mouth, which made me not able to move my mouth for two weeks after getting them tightened
Oh gawd, memories of when I had braces in high school. Every wire change meant a headache for days. Turned out the orthodontist I had tried to force my teeth to move too quickly and that was bad for the roots. My retainer was horrible. It was the type that has a whole piece of plastic that covers the roof of your mouth. I couldn't talk with them on and I kept getting called on during my classes to answer questions so I had to take them out during class. Glad you had a generally good experience since Claudia is good at her profession and I bet much more considerate than the dentist I had. My wisdom teeth crashed the party but I honestly have no desire to go through braces again.
Probably paid for equipment used, but not the time spent. Judging from Claudia's casual clothing, they probably went through the procedures in the evening or nighttime, off hours :)
Great results ! Wow, you had gorgeous teeth, now they are even better ! The white is great and your teeth look so natural, you are seeing the results of good care. I want to say that Claudia was impressive and good to see her in her Profession !!! Now we are going to expect her to do very very well in craft events you get her to do. If she can do THAT, she can do crafts !! Congratulation to you both !!
Oh my word-I had mine about the same, and I had the kind that went across the roof of my mouth and had to widen it everyday with a "key." I never thought I'd ever get them off. I almost cried tears of joy when I finally did. 😭
i'm so happy for you, they look amazing!! ✨ i may be getting my first set of adult braces put on sunday after my last orthodontist consult and i'm so excited but unfortunately my time estimate is 2 years give or take 😭 however i'm hoping thanks to my connective tissue diseases that maybe my teeth will move faster than healthy people's 😂 your videos definitely helped me be less nervous and i think i'm going to document my journey with adult braces on my channel as well, so thank you!! 💕
+agirlisariot thank you lovely! Definitely don't feel scared, it really wasn't too bad to have done and the pain was the ache-y kind rather than anything sharp xxx
When my ceramic braces were taken off last year I also couldn't stop running my tongue over my teeth, it felt so so good! I was 32 when I got my braces so did feel slightly silly at times, but am thoroughly glad I did it. Even now sometimes I just look in the mirror and stare at my own teeth 😆 x
I had a wisdom tooth start coming in at 13. Family kept telling me it was "just your 12-year molars", but those came in at 10. Took the thing a decade to fully come in, it's a slow mover!
I would not recommend filling the length of your teeth... I've ground my two front teeth down (not intentionally) to the point that their extremely sensitive! I wish a dentist had noticed before it got this bad (I go every six months). Cold, sugary things, etc, all cause me horrid nerve pain. Even inhaling cold air. I remember getting my braces off as a kid! The removal was gross (hate that sound) but I couldn't stop running my tongue on them! So weird!
Jessica Kellgren-Fozard I figured Claudia would know about it, but I really wanted to mention it just in case! ...it causes me a lot of problems and I made it a bit worse by trying to get them to seal them (adding composite) side that involved a bit of grinding.
SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SMILE!!!! and obviously just a beautiful person overall!!!~ I love your channel keep doing what you are doing you are honestly such an inspiration to keep on going and being positive towards life! okay sorry for the ramble I love you Jessica and your channel (:
I think I actually found the answer in your makeup video, where you're using the maybelline superstay 24 hour. I actually used to own one in Unlimited Raisin, which was pretty nice, it stayed on well, but I threw it out when I found out Maybelline tests on animals. Which is all well and good, the Raisin lipstick's purple color made my teeth look yellow by comparison anyway, so no real loss. Your teeth look beautiful! Love your videos ;)
I had my braces on for just over 18 months and it’s now been a year since I have had them off and I do actually miss them. They were like sort of a comfort blanket and now I don’t have them on I am really self conscious about my smile
I have a small mouth, so my dentist took 8 teeth out when I was a kid so they would all fit! I have always had problems with my teeth so watching this was a bit triggering but very interesting to watch! Your teeth look amazing now Magic wife looking after you
this is an old comment but I just wanted to say that I can empathise, Tho I just had 4 teeth removed.. it was still stressful having your adult teeth pulled when you're only 12 lol!
I despised my plastic retainers (I had top and bottom) because I had to wear them all day everyday and they just got so gunky during normal day to day use no matter how much I cleaned them. I didn't get the retainer behind my teeth because they couldn't fully straighten my teeth - one of my teeth points backwards after 2 1/2 years we finally made it not point straight back and it was properly brushable for the first time in 10 years which was the goal with my govt paid braces. Im tempted to get them straightened properly as an adult but it gives my smile character and Im too lazy to do it for one tooth.
This gave me flashbacks of having braces. I got them when I was 12 years old and I was living in Florida, but I moved to Ohio when I was 13 and for some reason my orthodontist refused to release my medical records so I was unable to see an orthodontist in Ohio for over a year. When I finally was able to see one my teeth had over-corrected so I had to have them on for another 2 years. So I had braces from 12 to 17. It was really exciting for me to get them off, but it was gross when they took them off taking the brackets off hurt my mouth so bad. But I had rainbow colored braces for my last treatment. It was sorta fun!
I had braces from age 10 to just before my 13th birthday. We were expecting me to wear them for much longer, but my disaster of a mouth actually cooperated!
Looks great. I have been dreading doing mine. I have to have jaw surgery (SEVERE underbite) as well as the braces done. Maybe in a year or two. Nice to get an opinion of the newer technologies because everyone I know only had the metal options
Congrats on being done with your adult braces! You have an amazing, well earned smile. In any event, I'm an adult who just got braces on this past Monday. To save money ($700), I opted to go with the metal brackets, which I fear has been a terrible mistake. I mean, in seeing your videos, you can barely even see your braces, and even what you can see was elegant as you took care of them. I'm looking at videos of adults with braces and was curious, if you had to do it again and got metal instead of clear, do you think it would have been a big deal for you? Please let me know, I'm actually thinking of paying the $700 plus $200 in ortho fees to have my front top 8 brackets taken off and replaced with clear ones. Is that too vain? Let me know, thanks! - Dave
My orthodontist's name was also Claudia how funny XD I had braces for 3 years around middle school. Got them on early but off when all my peers were getting theirs on for high school haha
I've just noticed your TH-cam name is now Jessica Kellgren-Fozard when I seem to remember it being Kellgren-Hayes?? Has it changed or am I just imagining things?
Jessica Kellgren-Fozard oh makes sense! Another great video by the way, I'm getting braces soon so I'm less scared now that I kinda know what to expect 😊
I always called painful days braces, "glass tooth days." Like in the cartoons when a character gets hit in the teeth an then they visibly fracture and slowly fallout in shards...
I had full sets of braces top and bottom when I was 16 for eighteen months. everyone noticed when they were put on, no one noticed when they were taken off... I guess because I just had normal teeth, or they'd say things like "have you done something different with your hair?" looking at me all confused lol
Uhh, no, teeth can still fall out even if you take care of them. My mom took amazing care of her teeth but after pregnancy she had a lot of problems, and fought so hard to try and keep up with the damage. Eventually, she couldn't fight it anymore and slowly ended up with all of them having to be pulled because there was nothing that could be done and it was dangerous to leave them in. I have a friend that also took amazing care of his teeth but they absolutely fell apart. I've heard many stories similar. Some people just don't have great teeth and hearing you say that taking care of them is honestly really disappointing. You know what it's like when people have misconceptions about health issues, so to see you perpetuate a really big one is just hurtful.
Claudia i have a question even though my dentist is super amazing i am worried about asking him the following as i already beat the chance of having any oral diseases after my street life. But now due to my disablity and sensory issues i hate flossing but i always get bloody gums. Do i need to go see my dentist or just floss more?
I've had my braces over a year now and hopefully they'll be off soon becuse they're going so much better than expected, I was supposed to have 4 teeth out but we put them on to see how it went and now I don't need any out
Lmao when i had braces for 11 months it was at first painful and then became amusing because i could choose my colors. Lost my retainer the moment i went away for college🤣 but it’s alright i have a permanent one that i don’t feel and teeth my teeth in check
I had to go to the orthodontist from age 7 until age 17 because my teeth were so bad. The whole thing cost thousands and thousands of dollars :( To this day, my dentist still remarks on the scars I have on the inside of my mouth from all the wires lol.
I had them like three years, I hated it so much... It was like hurting for a week, not hurting for a week and then he adjusts it and it will hurt for another week...
I had mine for 4 years. My canines were in the roof of my mouth so it took years. My teeth are horrible and i just want them all out and to get the implants.
I'm at work right now...😠...so I will watch this during my dinner later. In the meantime: Jessica, do you and Claudia...Tilli and Walter, too...have an address in the U.K. so I can mail a Christmas card?
Hi Jessica, a PO box is a good idea. I'd rather you did that than give out your home address. Privacy and what not? Let us/me know when the two of you set that up? I promise no shenanigans! 😇
My bottom row of teeth are over crowded and they hurt often, but I'm terrified of getting braces because of the cost of them! I've noticed that a tooth has begun to dent because one of the top teeth is grinding in to it. What do I do? I don't know if it's it's severe enough to get braces ...
i had braces while i was in 6th form, but they were only ever straightened to the point i could actually eat (oh nhs), so like some of teeth are still not quite in place? i had one tooth being pushed inwards and the dentist was just like eh whatever. she also never cleared off all the glue :/ I actually barely used my retainer afterwards because i hoped if i didnt that tooth would move back in place somewhat lol (it did a bit - still not perfect but eh). I have another couple of teeth pushed in somewhat. *le sigh* maybe i'll get better braces in the future. maybe. i also have fangs. but i appreciate them XD
For some reason it didn't occur to me that Claudia was the one who gave you braces!
Ha ha, being married to a dentist has its perks 😉
Wait, so is Claud a dentist or an orthodontist? Or is that the same thing in the UK? In the U.S. dentists do cleanings, fillings, general tooth care and orthodontists specifically do braces and things like that #confused

It’s so nice to see this because I’ve had braces for 6 years (I’m almost 20 now) and it’s great knowing there are other adults with braces and such

+Gemma Whitby I keep doing that! I leave the house with a massive eyeliner smudge on my cheek because I was too busy staring at my teeth to notice! 😳

You guys are too precious! I wish you two all the happiness in the world👌😎👍
You thought all old people had to get dentures and that teeth falling out was a part of getting old?? That’s so cute & funny!! Omg
Weird dental story: I've been told my wisdom teeth were "coming in soon" since I was 14. Still no wisdom teeth, and I just turned 20 the other day!
Oh my gosh! Hopefully they come in soon! x
Same here. But I finally had my wisdom teeth removed at age 20.
I had a wisdom tooth start coming in at 13. Family kept telling me it was "just your 12-year molars", but those came in at 10. Took the thing a decade to fully come in, it's a slow mover!
I'm one of those people who never developed wisdom teeth. 🙂
So weird!
+Elizabeth Bulfer ooh gosh! That definitely doesn't sound good! Noted indeed 😳
Jessica Kellgren-Fozard I figured Claudia would know about it, but I really wanted to mention it just in case! ...it causes me a lot of problems and I made it a bit worse by trying to get them to seal them (adding composite) side that involved a bit of grinding.
I wish I had your teeth. Mine make me very self-conscious. Like Drew Carey's teeth, but smaller. And I'm a woman. 😕
(They look fine on him...)
Holy cow, what lipstick are you wearing that is staying put through all of your dentist appointments?? I want what she's having!
Ps you’re so beautiful! You and Claudia are amazing and I am so happy I’ve discovered your channel! Love from Ohio! ❤️❤️❤️
Holy guacamole! Dazzling white smile!
+John Flynn ✨😁✨
I had my braces on for just over 18 months and it’s now been a year since I have had them off and I do actually miss them. They were like sort of a comfort blanket and now I don’t have them on I am really self conscious about my smile
Tbh you looked so cute with braces!!! You look beautiful without them too!
Aw thank you 💖
gawd, i'd love to see you both do the mouthguard challenge lol
Yes please!
Beautiful smile!
+Mad4U2Love glad you like it 😁
Aww.... They look very nice so happy for you. 😊💗
+Tiffany Sailor thanks lovely 😊
I have a small mouth, so my dentist took 8 teeth out when I was a kid so they would all fit! I have always had problems with my teeth so watching this was a bit triggering but very interesting to watch! Your teeth look amazing now Magic wife looking after you
+Miss Adventure glad you liked the video even though it brought back some bad memories! 😳
Jessica Kellgren-Fozard I think a lot of people have bad memories of dentists I'm thankful times have changed and they are more sympathetic now
this is an old comment but I just wanted to say that I can empathise, Tho I just had 4 teeth removed.. it was still stressful having your adult teeth pulled when you're only 12 lol!
+vikingqueer333 I like teeth with character! 😊
Even more beautiful now!
+marsha831 aw thank you 💗
STUNNINGGGGGG
I would like to straighten my teeth someday don't really like how they look but can't afford it. Maybe one day...
I had braces top and bottom for 2 and a half years and a bite plate and rubber bands for most of my treatment
- Dave
Aaaaaa I just got my braces on *again* yesterday,,, I totally feel your pain dskfhsdkjffhk
My orthodontist's name was also Claudia how funny XD I had braces for 3 years around middle school. Got them on early but off when all my peers were getting theirs on for high school haha
Hahaha you are gorgeous, awesome, and hilarious with your wife!
You guys are so cute together!
Thank you this was a very useful video series!
I've just noticed your TH-cam name is now Jessica Kellgren-Fozard when I seem to remember it being Kellgren-Hayes?? Has it changed or am I just imagining things?
+Kay Tea ha ha, no it has changed. Claudia's maiden name is Fozard so since getting married we've both changed to Kellgren-Fozard 😊
Jessica Kellgren-Fozard oh makes sense! Another great video by the way, I'm getting braces soon so I'm less scared now that I kinda know what to expect 😊
+Kay Tea thanks lovely. Definitely don't be too scared, it's really not that bad 💗
Your teeth look fantastic!!
I always called painful days braces, "glass tooth days." Like in the cartoons when a character gets hit in the teeth an then they visibly fracture and slowly fallout in shards...
Beautiful! ⭐️
Wow only 9 months lol! I had them twice! 6 years combined
I wish I could afford braces! They're $5000+ in America
This makes me even more exited to get my braces off. They have destroyed the inside of my mouth 😫
+mia henry not to worry, your cheeks will heal very very quickly 💗
Tooth Baby XD Hahaha love it!
At least you could feel comfortable with your dentist being your wife and all, aha
Claudia i have a question even though my dentist is super amazing i am worried about asking him the following as i already beat the chance of having any oral diseases after my street life.
But now due to my disablity and sensory issues i hate flossing but i always get bloody gums. Do i need to go see my dentist or just floss more?
I've had my braces over a year now and hopefully they'll be off soon becuse they're going so much better than expected, I was supposed to have 4 teeth out but we put them on to see how it went and now I don't need any out
I had to have braces for 4 and a half years. Like what? 9 months? Dang.
Lmao when i had braces for 11 months it was at first painful and then became amusing because i could choose my colors. Lost my retainer the moment i went away for college🤣 but it’s alright i have a permanent one that i don’t feel and teeth my teeth in check
braces were the worst pain of my teenage life. Even worse than my cramps that sent me to bed
I just figured out who you remind me of, a British Ellie Kemper from Unbreakable Kimmy Schmit!
I had my braces for 4 years, 2 of my teeth are still a bit stained but it’s finally fading away!
your tooth baby is beautiful :-)
+dianaclara ha ha thank you 😁
Jessica, I had to wear braces when I was 14 years old till 17 years old
I had mine for 4 years. My canines were in the roof of my mouth so it took years. My teeth are horrible and i just want them all out and to get the implants.
wow only 9 months? I had mine on for 4 years from 5th to 8th grade. My teeth were pretty damn crooked back then though.
I'm at work right now...😠...so I will watch this during my dinner later. In the meantime: Jessica, do you and Claudia...Tilli and Walter, too...have an address in the U.K. so I can mail a Christmas card?
+CANUCK METAL HEAD good question! We were thinking of getting a POBox for vlogmas this year... sound like a good idea?
Hi Jessica, a PO box is a good idea. I'd rather you did that than give out your home address. Privacy and what not? Let us/me know when the two of you set that up? I promise no shenanigans! 😇
Claude is wearing a dress!! Document this accasion! Also how the heck does your lippy stay on through a dentist app!!!
oh thats a lot of trouble when it comes to braces!
I would love to get braces but the dentist says I need 4 extractions and I've heard too many horror stories about that so I backed out. 🙈
My bottom row of teeth are over crowded and they hurt often, but I'm terrified of getting braces because of the cost of them! I've noticed that a tooth has begun to dent because one of the top teeth is grinding in to it. What do I do? I don't know if it's it's severe enough to get braces ...
i had braces while i was in 6th form, but they were only ever straightened to the point i could actually eat (oh nhs), so like some of teeth are still not quite in place? i had one tooth being pushed inwards and the dentist was just like eh whatever. she also never cleared off all the glue :/
I actually barely used my retainer afterwards because i hoped if i didnt that tooth would move back in place somewhat lol (it did a bit - still not perfect but eh). I have another couple of teeth pushed in somewhat. *le sigh*
maybe i'll get better braces in the future. maybe.
i also have fangs. but i appreciate them XD
My question is I thought Claudia was a dentist, not an orthodontist. Can you be licensed for both?
Yes you can
Imagine having braces for seven years, I sure can
