    So you have perfect eyesight in both eyes but one eye just isn’t big into sharing. Maybe wear an eye patch to show it who’s the boss. "I don't see why I should be the only one who can't see out of that eye"

      its what doctors do to kids, they use an eye patch so they can get the eye to work and not be lazy. My cousin had one for a year.

      Jessica Kellgren-Fozard I sometimes have to cover my left eye especially if I am fatigued from just general life of a mom, because, while I technically can see out of that eye I am looking through a big scar tissue patch covering my cornea. Meaning light, color, and vague shapes can be seen but, don't let that eye try to take over visual focus duty because, I can't see anything other than the giant blur glasses or not. Fun part is both my husband and I are blind on our left sides. So yes I can attest covering the damaged eye can at least force the undamaged one to learn to be primary focus since we only use one eye at a time normally to do so. Best of luck and thanks for being so open informative and sweet.

      Wearing an eye patch for a lazy eye is actually for a different type of eye related problem. However that doesn’t mean it may not work for you but this isn’t the same as having a lazy eye. Just to let you know :). I learned the reason for a lazy eye in uni I however have a hard time explaining it in english sorry.

She got eliminated because of her disability and yet they said she wasn't disabled enough for the show. So seriously fucked up.

    Yes! I knew a guy who was visually impaired in one eye for 30+ years (he regained his vision when he was...uh...electrocuted. Don't try that at home.) and he had a pretty awesome and interesting life as a professional musician. He basically told me the same thing that you just said, Jessica, "You just keep on keeping on, and it's fine."

    I have several disabilities and am glad to have found your videos. I am blind in one eye, have a lazy eye & coloboma in that same left eye. Glaucoma, sight all gone in the bottom realm of my visual field doc watching me for a brain tumor. I have 5 kinds of arthritis I was born with all this but have never been held back. At age 28 I am still going on have many bruises & scrapes but not much stops me. I am headed to a scooter chair soon & have fought that for a long time but watching you has helped me transition to this next phase of my life. My scoliosis & spinal stenosis is progressing to where I will soon have to compensate. You are a beautiful woman thank you for your videos & sharing your life.

    That’s exactly how my right ear went, it’s been two years but I remember it perfectly. I remember all of the pain, I remember being terrified that it wouldn’t come back, I remember the brain splitting ringing that went on for two days. I also remember the days that follow. The doctor saying it was an ear infection, the only ENT doctor in my city that takes in minors say to me that be would have probably been able to save it if I had come in sooner after waiting over three months for my appointment. I also remember my mother crying, crying because she thought it was her fault, if she had just yelled a little louder or gotten a second opinion.
    It has definitely been weird, I have completely abandoned my cross system since it’s easier just to turn.
    It’s surprisingly one of the best things that has happened to me in a surprising way. It has given me a new perspective on life and it ended up being a big game changer, it also helps weed out true friends.
    Welp that’s the end of that. That’s my looooooonnnnnggg way of saying this video is #relatable and that I love your content!

      Don't compare. Those two words helped me so much when I was in a similar mindset. Just because someone else handles something well does not mean you should too. Everyone is completely different, different memories, different lifestyles, different personalities. It is ok to give up sometimes. It is ok to not be able to get out of bed some days. It is ok.
      P.S. I'm sorry if this is not helpful or you have heard it before, I meant it to be helpful, even if I am 2 years late.

    After my mom's brain surgery she lost some of her sight...well, during the surgery, I suppose, because they had to cut some things out of her brain, like eyesight nerves. Anyway, it was very hard for her because she lost her ability to read well. She was a reading teacher by profession; it was very sad, and hard. Anyway, she has regained and retrained herself quite well and can read, but her reading comprehension rate is still not nearly as good as it once was. She used to be able to read a 500page book in a day, and now can possibly read a page in a day with the same comprehension. I am very proud of her; she has had a very positive outlook similar to you, and being able to see that in her throughout all these hard times has motivated and encouraged me very powerfully. Anyway, keep up the good work, Jessica!

      Klover-Raine and her MaMa Why have kids when you have this condition? You know you can pass it on, it's genetic. I'm sorry if it offends you, but I am a biologist and therefore think of it this way.

    • @PixelPies
      @PixelPies 6 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      If someone with a condition feels fulfilled and enjoys their life, they can assume their child will have a similar experience. Being physically impaired doesn't make a life worthless, and doesn't have to mean a loss in quality of life, particularly if you have a supportive & understanding parent to help along the way.

    • @itsklover12
      @itsklover12 6 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Klover-Raine and her MaMa That depends on the type of illness, I think. I don't have medical education and wasn't aware of this illness until I saw these videos. So as I understood from the author's videos she knew she had this condition since she was a little girl, therefore I assumed it would show in early life. I understand now that it can be different. Again sorry if I offended you, I didn't mean to do that.

    I'm slowly going more and more blind in my left eye because I have amblyopia. I have to wear my glasses full time otherwise I get headaches that feel like migraines. I was diagnosed with amblyopia when I was 5 and had to read/colour wearing glasses with a frosted lens. I didn't understand the importance of this and I would just move my glasses or take them off. I regret that because every year my prescription changes, evidence of my eye sight deteriorating. Always encourage young people to strengthen their eyes because you'll regret it when it's too late. I'm 16 (in an hour) and it's too late for me to improve my eyesight. Don't make your risk of going completely blind in one eye come sooner

    The Talking Books for the Blind library has been a godsend for my mother. She has become legally blind from Macular degeneration. Best of all, it’s a free service, providing her with a free digital book reader, and lots of books through the mail that she returns when she’s done, no time limit.

    This made me actually stop and think for a while... People are not thankful for the things they've got, until they lose them. Im not necessarily talking about your hands, legs, vision or hearing, but about everything. Like even the every-day things, like friends, home, or even money. As long as we have it, we dont even think, dont give a flying fuck, we're good to go. The problem begins when we start losing it, then we cry, pray, wish to "go back and do something"... It's sad. We only care about the things we DONT HAVE. Aint that right folks? And im not blaming anyone, we all do that - we just get used to what we have,while we should be thankful for that every day of our fucking lives. Hang out with your friends more, take care of your family, play with your dog, go out with your boyfriend(or girlfriend of course, like in this case. Im just assuming that most viewers of this channel are women, that's why im talking as i would to a female), take care of YOURSELF and YOUR BODY. Coz girl, you received a beautiful(yes, i dont have to see you to know that your beautiful, every single person in this world is. Some of us just hide it deeply inside by making wrong choices and decisions, but "at the end of a day(as my mom likes to say)" we all are beautiful, no matter on your wealth and social status, skin color, gender etc. All we have to do is pull that beauty out of ourselves and show it to the world, expose it and be proud of who we are and what we've got. If you dont have any disabilities, just know that you're a one lucky motherf**ker. You know, i used to think im just soo super average. Average looks, average mind, average height, average fucking everything you could ever think of. I used to be very jealous of other people, because all of them seemed to have something that makes them unique... All of them, but not me. I still think that i cant be more average than i already am(at least here in america), but im very grateful for everythingi've got and what i was and will be ever able to achieve id rather have it that way than not have it whatsoever. Im sorry if this comment doesnt make any sense or it sounds like im high(im not, really. I dont need to get high or drink to talk gibberis, im already there :D) or something. Like i said, the video just made me wonder a bit, and i kinda wanted to share it with people. I hope everything works out well for all of you, i wish everybody the best.have a nice day!

    Hello Jessica! I was born blind - no other disability - and still live in my home country in the Balkans (Eastern Europe). I really wonder how you can be so positive about all your problems. I am let's say successful, I have a job in an international NGO and doing pretty well by most standards, still everytime I have a problem I remind myself of my disability and have a hard time of reflection about what happened. I really tend to be REALISTIC because all that positivity doesn't really ring a bell to me when we have so many problems in our lives. Thanks God we have our families and friends because the society is not supportive enough, no matter how inclusive it tends to be. Good luck with your life!

    It's so fascinating on so many levels to watch you: the fabulous content as well as the fact that you manage your challenges so well that most people probably wouldn't even notice anything unusual unless you mention it. I'm really sorry you had (and still have) to go through so many tough times and I admire how you can wrap it up in the biggest smile and move on. And I'm happy for you that you have a lovely wife who is there for you in those moments that challenge you off camera. Much love ♥️

    I just started following you recently and your channel is so wonderful. I don't have any other disabilities but I have been blind in one eye my entire life, and it's... impacted me a fair bit in unexpected ways by disqualifying me for a career I wanted to follow, and I've had a really hard time trying to move past that. Thank you for being so real but also so positive. Acknowledging that it sucks but trying to move forward anyway. I struggle very much with that. It's nice to see that it can be done!
