I thought his design was cute and that he was a douche at first, (mind you I LIKE mean rivals anyway lol) but after reading his trainer card, paying attention to the Rose dynamic. yeah I think Bede is the better rival when it comes to character design/story arc ect. but yeah you got me there. I would defend Bede regardless.

This theme kinda reminds me of those montages in those 90's movies with a group of kids getting into all sorts of trouble while running from a group of authority figures.
When the games first came out I was disappointed that this theme wasn't available in the Battle Tower despite it being literally for the same tower that would become the Battle Tower. Fortunately however they seem to have fixed this, either in the DLC or as part of the free update that came in support of the DLC, because now you can select a Rose Tower theme and have this play for your Battle Tower experience.
Playing thru the games again (bought shield and dlc to speedrun and catch crown tundra legendaries and sling em on pokehome) this is now my favorite music in the game

What I like is that it felt earned. Yeah it's a Pokemon game and they do double battles all the time now, but this was legitimately the best part of the game. One goal. One way trip. Just you and your rival tearing up to some hype music. It felt freeing and fun, just like Pokemon is supposed to be.

if i had a nickel for every time the penultimate setpiece of the 8th main iteration of a long-running game series was an elevator with background music that sounds like something from a church camp, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice
I had to look up if this track was supposed to play during the elevator battles, because it’s so out of place for where it is in the story, that I genuinely thought my game bugged.
