    Blind bags/boxes have never gone anywhere, you just grew up and stopped noticing/buying them.
    This isn’t a Glitch problem, it’s a “we don’t have good enough regulations about marketing to children” problem.

      For me it’s a price problem. It’s a really greedy way to get people to buy stuff. Lego’s are ok because they are literally 5 bucks each. Also legos have a lot more characters, meaning your change to get a duplicate is a lot lower.

      I think it’s the prices but people have to notice that TH-cam merch is just expensive in general due to it being an independent project and glitch has to pay there animators voice actors ect.

      I kinda see the Dilemma
      You can't control what kids buy cause its not the kids it's their Parents. And looking on the view count and Kids content based off the Ip you can tell its mostly kids. And adults just want their kids happy so they buy it.
      the thing about blind bags were the fact they were cheap so you could buy 3 with the price of tadc. But I'd like to add that it would've been better just to sell the figs without the Gacha part.

    As a FNAF fan, Funko has been selling FNAF mystery minis for years. I really have no problem with the mystery boxes, I love collecting the figures, but the $15 is insane though for just 1 figure. Funko sells their minis for $7 or slightly more depending on the store. $96 for the full set is kinda crazy lol.

      I didn't mention it in this short but the mystery kaufmo figure can "replace" one of the figures in the set. So you can pay $120 to get the full set, however pomni could be replaced by kaufmo. So you'd have to keep buying more boxes to finally complete the set. Very odd, i can understand why people are upset about this.
      Shipping also has to be factored in as well.

    Even Goose herself said the show is definitely not for kids, especially starting in Episode 3. I am a Glitch-Inn member and I watched the interview. In the AMA Interview with Gooseworx, she mentioned that episode 3 will have lots of HORROR, and reminded everyone that the series is PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR, and didn’t advise kids watching episode 3. So kids are not what this show is supposed to be marketed towards in the first place, and is not the target audience.
    Blind boxes are common to this day. Yes the $15 price tag is rather high, but try running a huge indie series, or 3 different ones at that matter. Merch is sold to support the shows production, if you are really bothered by the merch prices, you could always support fan merch from artists and such, but they won’t support the show.

      Yep, exactly.
      At that blind boxes are so so so common now of days, I have bought many for things that I don't even know, like cute bear hamster looking things, cute chibi figures, etc. again of things that don't even have series, just cute figures.
      At that like you said they've been selling normal merch, having one but if merch as a mystery box shouldn't be as big of an issue as people are making it.
      Heck there is a guy who goes around dedicating himself to buying Disney and similar themed blind boxes/bags and he does go and buys a bunch, trying to collect the whole set.
      Some people genuinely just enjoy collecting these in this way.
      I for instance participate in a pure gacha game, the whole thing is dressing up with what you get in gachas, never have to pay money for what I personally want either.
      Very generous with gacha rolls on the free spin to give coins for the item spins.
      It used to be called Tinierme but it indeed got shut down well over a decade ago for "gambling" which at that time they did full on have people spending tons of money for items, others wouldn't need to pay cause we would make art for items that others already paid for.
      So if you were on that site in beta mode and got beta items or were loaded, you could get whatever you wanted, but if you were an artist, you were basically promised whatever you wanted.
      There was an artist who traded for an item where only two people on the whole site got one from a contest (or my bad the artist won it themselves from the site and then got actual money from trading it or something)
      And then right after that event they shut down in a week, only a week warning.
      Luckily they came back as Cocoppa play or something like that, they do not do the gachas how they would with Tinierme, but it is basically still the same, just much better
      It's just good for making designs you want with actual good looking stuff since it is all hand drawn.

      @@kyuutakitsune7163 I ain't saying glitch is gonna be matching Legos prices, I'm saying that the glitch merch will ALWAYS cost more because of where the money goes.
      Lego has to pay for ; production cost, marketing, shipping, designers and other employees involved in production
      Glitch merch has to pay for ; production cost, designers, other employees involved in production AND they need to pay for other shows (they also have marketing but seeing how they market I can't imagine it costing much).
      Now I can't find how much an actual animation show costs to make but it seems like you roughly pay 5-10k for a 10 minute episode at cheapest.

    To add on to the fact that mystery bags/bundles have been around for ages, I would also argue that it’s not gambling for kids. The show may be a cartoon, and it may technically not swear, but I’m pretty sure that it’s not directed at kids.

    • @RebelliousRobot
      @RebelliousRobot หลายเดือนก่อน +64

      Even then, it still isn’t gambling, because you’re still getting a thing. It’s just sometimes it’s one you already have. You’d probably have a better chance getting a specific character from a mystery pack than winning from a slot machine.
      That being said, 15 dollars sounds excessive for small figurines. Just hope it’s good quality.

    • @lakibramble
      @lakibramble หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      @AMagicalTortoise of course it's not meant for children, but none the less, it has a very large audience of children and young teenagers, and they know this fact. I'd say it's the majority of their audience. You don't choose who your show appeals to, and this show just happens to appeal to children. Usually this is whatever. I don't think they need to change their show just because kids are watching, that's their art, and I don't think they should have to compromise their art because kids are watching it. That being said, selling expensive things that are essentially gambling loot boxes is not a creative decision, and I think it's at the very least, a little irresponsible. Even if your show isn't made for kids, you know that's who you are selling to, so you should do your best (in my opinion) to not try to sell young impressionable children loot boxes. Logan Paul said his content wasn't for kids, and he defiantly does stuff that is more adult, but he still has an audience of children, so he shouldn't market gambling sites to them. This isn't any different to me.
      That being said I don't think there's anything wrong with blind bags in general. If they're cheap it's not a huge deal of you get a repeat. However these are going for 15 dollars a peice. The whole point of most blind bags that aren't trying to literally be gambling is that they are cheap so you can get a lot of chances at whatever you want. This is not the same simply because of the price, a kid can only try once or twice to get the figure if they want it.
      If you're going to sell expensive figures to kids. Don't put them in blind bags. If you want to make blind bags for an audience of children, make the figures less detailed and make the price make sense. That's just my opinion though

    • @lakibramble
      @lakibramble หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @RebelliousRobot this just isn't true. Something can definitely be considered gambling even if you receive a product. Loot boxes, things that that, are considered to be gambling because you tend to be looking for something high value with your money and are getting something not worth what you put in, or not what you generally want. I'd say this wouldn't be gambling at first because you're getting a high quality product no matter what! But with the edition of a super rare mystery figure, I'd say it fits, because people will be buying a bunch of these blind bags in order to get the special rare figure and not getting what they want.
      Gambling has many defitions, but just because you receive a product at the end doesn't mean you aren't gambling. Gambling is simply just putting money into a random system in hopes to get something of a certain value.
      I wouldn't care if the majority of their audience were adults, but most of them are children and these are very expensive figures, seems a little irresponsible to me

Thats pretty common sense 3 i agree with the fans. 15$ is extremly overpriced especially for how small they are , at the max maybe 8$ would be an okay price 4 i do belive they are just faunding off the digital circus fame and trying to get as much money as they can cause animating isnt cheap they have raised about 1-5 million dollars i belive from merch and clout if they are doing seassons its gonna be very very expensive and they might possibly run out cause of stuff like bug fixxing , animating , voice acting , song writing , smoothing ect

The thing is when you’re younger you just tend to pick favorites and feel unlucky if you dont get that very specific character. The older/more mature you get the more you learn to accept all of them so you become happier with what you get. It’s about maturity, not gambling.

      Gambling denotes a chance that you can potentially lose the money you spent for nothing in return. This is $15 (which is too much and the only real issue I have with this) to get a figure, but you are guaranteed to get one of those figures.

      Legally, not really. Legally gambling is defined as betting something of value on a chance outcome with the understanding that you could either gain additional value or lose the original value that was risked.
      That's not what a blind box is. You give money, you are guaranteed 1 of these figures. You are guaranteed a return on your investment. Now if you don't particularly like the one you got you have options. You can resell it for the original price you paid for a net 0 gain or trade what you have for what you want.
      You can't sell or trade a losing lotto ticket for a winning one.

    Personally I don't have a huge issue with the price or with them being blindboxes (I'd prefer them to be cheaper and not blindbox, but I don't mind it too much.) My issue is with the fact that, not only is there no guaranteed way to get the full set, but you are actually guaranteed NOT to get the full set because one random figure is replaced by the secret figure in every box. The only way to get them all is to buy 2 full boxes and hope you don't have the same figure replaced in both boxes, or buy a full box plus one extra individual blindbox and hope it happens to be the one you're missing (spoiler alert: it most likely won't be.)
    By putting a secret figure in every box and having it replace another instead of just having a 9 figure set, the secret actually becomes the MOST COMMON figure in the set as 8 secrets are produced for every 7 of each of the other characters. I'm used to buying blindbox figures and dolls that have secret figures, but the secret is usually waaaayyyyyyy rarer that the rest (we're talking like 1/100 odds) so it is actually more valuable than the others in the set and if you get lucky enough to pull it but don't want it you can at least sell it for a significant amount then buy the ones you actually do want. Having the secret actually be common AND replace another figure is so ridiculous!
    The secret figure also isn't something I particularly want, so no matter which figure it replaces, I'm going to be disappointed. I was really excited for this set because the figures are adorable, but I just don't think I can justify buying them knowing that I'm not going to be entirely happy no matter what, and there's a good chance I miss out on a figure I really like. If I'm paying £100 for a box of figures, why would anyone ever think it's a good idea to take away one of them at random and replace it with a far less desirable one with no value and give me no way to directly buy the figure I'm missing out on?
    I saw someone suggest a better way of doing a secret figure in a similar way which would be far better. Basically each character could have a variant (like costume versions such as minimum wage Jax, or just an alternate interesting pose/expression with an additional prop or something) and one figure from each box could be randomly replaced by their variant. That way you still get every character and you get a special variant of one of them. I do think this concept would be better executed later down the line when we have more episodes and therefore more costumes/props/iconic poses and expressions to reference, but it could still work at this point.
    Anyway that's my rant about these figures. For now I'm just not buying them and waiting to see what happens after they ship for everyone who did, particularly to see if there's a decent resale market for them here in the UK so I can individually buy specific figures from people who already got them and are selling off characters they don't want.

      @BeasEasel 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @Stories_Untold Yeah, hopefully it's just an unfortunate oversight that gets fixed later because I'd be happy to pay for the full set if I knew I'd get them all. I hope they either release a second round with no "secret" figure so you're just guaranteed one of each of all the main characters if you buy a full box, or they add the option to just pick the characters you want and skip the blind box part entirely if you're not interested in the surprise element.

    Even tho they cost quite a lot, there's a reason for big prices of Glitch's merch. Glitch made the FinalFinalProject which helps small indie series studios get popular and get funds for their animations, it costs a lot to fund their shop and other shops (lackadaisy's merchandise shop and Glitch's merchandise shop) Glitch productions uses the money from merch (and animations!) to fund these 2 shops and merch for them. Glitch also needs funds to pay off their crew (yk animators, voice actors and others) which also costs a lot. I think even tho the prices might be big, the money goes towards making the quality of animations and merch better. I hope I explained it well :)

    Not only that, but they have to also ship it and deliver it as well since it’s online. I can’t imagine paying $15 plus shipping and waiting days or maybe even weeks or months only to get a figure you didn’t want.

    15 dollars for a mini is crazy, funkos minis are normally around 7 dollars or less, and their normal sized ones can vary in price but a common range that I see a lot is 15 to 25 dollars and depending on where you live since their are very few funko warehouses ( one being in everet Washington and the other in Arizona ) you will have to pay a small shipping fee
    It just seems a bit wild that a full pack of these animiniz cost so much

    I don’t know.. but I don’t think it’s a reason to get mad about the price. The prices are the prices, if it’s too much for you then just don’t buy it.
    But at the same time, I’m not a collector and I don’t tend to spend money on this type of stuff. So I don’t think I’d have the right judgment, and that’s why it just matters what you think. Your buying it for yourself right? So if it’s worth the money, get it. And if not, don’t.
    That’s what I think, No debate or hate needed at all :)

    My issue is its 120 if you dont want any duplicates except ... Except if you read the item description. You get the mystery figure BUT it replaces 1 of the normal. It comes with 8 of the 9 so even after shulling 120 dollars you DONT. GET ALL OF THEM. Meaning even after that lump sum you still have to play roulette for the last ine you didnt get.

    I can see where the fans are coming from. The random factor is more fun in products like trading card packs, in guessing games, or even the white elephant game at Christmas time. Miniature figurines on not so much. Especially one is only looking for certain characters.

    I think that Glitch Productions is a small company trying to make awesome animations and they’re selling merch to get the funding? It’s not a huge deal how much the merch costs or what ‘era’ its form is from. If you find it too expensive or outdated, don’t buy it? It’s that simple? Like? Hello? I am personally I huge fan of Glitch Productions and a year ago I got the Uzi plush for my birthday. I live in Australia, so it was $60. If I bought the Digital Circus Animiniz, it would cost me $30 so I think the Americans are just looking for something to throw a fit about. Glitch Productions makes really good quality merch, and again, if you don’t like it, don’t buy it!
    Have a good day and don’t waste your time hating!

    Reminder this is an Indie studio that actively has stated the show is not meant for kids. blame the fake youtube stuff that lasted for about a year introducing kids to it.
    Any and all forms of merch for the digital circus is overpriced... however, keep in mind this is mostly a way to show your dedication to the show. Yes, they are trying to make a profit for a reason. but the merch is purely there as a support tool to help the digital circus continue it's purpose while being profitable. At the end of the day. you are the one choosing to pay for it. you are the one that makes the decision to get all of them. As for kids. again, show ain't directed towards them, so that argument is invalid. I mean, look at overwatch. that game was advertised to most ages and they had lootboxes of all things.

    *HOWEVER*
    I think it's on the duty of glitch to encourage and possibly even set up spaces for trading. That's part of og fun for blind boxes especially if you want a specific character or are trying to acquire the full set without the larger price tag. I think people forget that you..are able to trade ngl

  • @notJO3Y7
    @notJO3Y7 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    I agree that the prices are outrageous but at the same time it’s understandable. GLITCH basically relies on fan income in order to pay for this project and voice actors, without enough money neither would be possible and there’s only so much this small team can do. As for the existence of blind boxes I feel like the “it’s outdated” argument is a little silly, they still exist, they just go under the radar. And the scamming children thing is pretty dumb in my opinion as this series from the start was no way intended for nor targeted to children, the brain rotted “kids” channels are just slowly gaslighting us into thinking it is.
