I agree -- her hair is really pretty the way it is. I think it would be great if more of these young women used wigs for their fashion colours. They can't be much more expensive than the cost of destroying your hair and having to live with that!
You are totally right about finding a niche! My sister got really really skilled at extensions and brings home the big bucks haha she takes many classes and even developed her own method of installing them. She has a waiting list of clients and only had to work a couple days a week. Now she buys bulk orders of extensions and sells them to other stylists while also teaching them how to do it. It’s pretty amazing
When I went to my stylist Jan. 10, 2023 another stylist was putting in extensions in her clients hair. The extensions were highlights. It was amazing. I had never seen this done before. What a great way to do highlights on long hair.

Oh what she said about salons is so true,and it’s everywhere not only USA… I think every salon should have a color only hairstylist,someone who learned the chemistry and has good eye for color, not every person has that talent. You wouldn’t go to a tattoo artist who doesn’t know how to make portrait tattoo to do your portrait tattoo, it shouldn’t be different for your hair.
That is a thing. I sell myself as a blonde ‘professional,’ I really enjoy doing blondes, so that’s the side of hairdressing I try to learn more about. Not interested in other colours really so I don’t market myself towards them.
That's not really feasible unless you want salon prices for other services to skyrocket. Stylists have to eat too and nobody is getting fed doing only blow outs or only cuts. Also you can multi seat clients if you got a color cooking, you squeeze in a trim or style. You can't really fit 2-3 chemical services at the same time. Same reason you don't see manicure only nail techs unless they are charging like $50 for a spa experience. You can't survive on cheap services alone and expensive ones won't fill your book either
They exist but they tend to be more expensive, many years ago I went to one all she did was color , bleach and color corrections if you wanted a haircut another hairstylist would cut your hair . You can always call around and ask if they a colorist working on their salon .

When I used to go to the salon, sometimes my beautician would ask another stylist to do something, or just refer you to a different stylist all together. Like If there is a style she couldn’t cut. There is no shame in wanting to not eff up something.

We were actually taught this in college (I did hair & beauty back in 2005/2006/2007) they told us that we can’t be amazing at everything so to pick a ‘niche’ & concentrate on that once qualified. They said exactly what you did, it’s better to be the best at something then ‘meh’ at everything. Lots of my class after qualifying went into barbering or wedding hair specifically or just doing spa/beauty treatments. Nobody stuck to doing both hair AND beauty.
I dont watch a lot of small ‘beginner’ social media accounts (or maybe it’s an age thing?) because of this annoying ‘try hard’ intensity they all seem to have -imitating something they think is engaging, (or funny) but is always so damn phony.

Thank you so much for the content and advice. I stopped trying to color my hair around 20 years ago after applying a dark blonde box dye to my hair and it had green undertones. I subsequently found a professional colorist and I see her every 8-9 weeks.

Quick Blue is easy to get at Sally's the non pro beauty supply store here in the US. I use it,but use Olaplex #1 to temper the damage and never just go for it with it, Close is good enough for what I use it for. I lighten then cover it with a direct dye.
It's that prissy "valley girl" voice. I can't stand it either it sounds so put out and fake. If it's not, I understand she can't stop that from happening but that doesn't mean I have to enjoy it lol

Keeps me from doing dumb things to my hair.. :)) Update on K18 hair repair mask - First impression so far is very good. my hair looks healthier and it doesn't feel so crunchy. now I know using it once wouldn't do much on the inside of the hair, but it surely did something on the outside no leave-in conditioner or oil has done for me so I'm happy so far. haven't dyed or bleached it in 2 months and I intend to keep it that way.
I only have the confidence to bleach and tone my hair at home because it’s 80-90% gray and I wear a buzzcut! I bleach it white and tone with….T18! My profile photo is my natural color from 3 yrs ago.

I'm curious, but what's the issue with quick blue? 🤔 I've only bleached my hair once and that was with manic panic so don't have much experience with at home bleach.
Quick Death, as he says sometimes. As far as I know, QB is a very strong bleach power and if not used carefully (which almost never happens in those videos) it can burn off your hair. Hair Buddha once explained this thing with QB in one of his videos, I don't remember which one it was, but I remember him saying that QB is very strong AND yes, you can have nice results with it, but people are not so careful, and there are other brands, like Blonde Me, that won't damage your hair so much. We don't have Quick Blue in my country buuuut there's a similar bleach powder that is exactly like QB. 😂 I bleached my hair in 2012 for my prom and... Yeah, it was royal blue at the end the way I wanted it, but it freaking fried my hair and a professional did it, not me. In 2017 I used the same brand with my virgin hair, and again, fried. It has the power to lighten the darkest color, but as he says, there are other brand option that will do less damage to your hair. Today I am a hair professional and I mostly do bleach and hair coloring, but I will never use this brand on my clients. I think it goes the same with Quick Blue. You can have nice results with more... not "trustable", but "safer" brands. (Sorry for the long answer.)
It's just a lower quality bleach compared to what's available. (It's not as trash as Clairol Bw2 though lol). Wella and schwarzkopf have much better bleaches
There are also hair extensions you can clip in that are made of human hair colored to your liking. Find a base color that works for you and have a blast with extensions!

OMG I used to glop the bleach on my hair when I was in my young years never had spots or uneven make up a lot of product so you don’t run out.
