      Before hairstyling, I was formally trained in the 70's and 80's as a barber, by a barber-turned-teacher, who is so much like Mr. Hair Buddah here, it's hilarious. The high school I went to, offered barbering as a course, so I was like sign me up after I tried tailoring and found it wasn't my cup of tea. Hair seemed to be though.
      Only my teacher was from Hungary and was a good 20 years older than this good man, but he spoke like him and has some mannerisms that are so uncanny it makes me laugh. I know I've seen many over the years, who tried to do their hair at home and ended up in my chair, tears and all.

      I'm not a hairdresser but have been doing my own hair for years. Obviously I'm not doing anything too technical at home by myself but I'm pretty decent at it by now. In this situation would you go through with a reddish brown and do a long shadow root to try evening the color out?

    • @SB8-8
      @SB8-8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Lizzypoohxo Quite honestly, part of being a hairdresser is knowing and understanding the person whos hair your working on. It's not just about the hair or knowing how to mix products and actually understanding the chemicals and what they do. That would be why we go to school as long as we do and do continuing education throughout our careers. I personally would probably not even do this particular persons hair.
      I need to physically see and feel that hair before I would ever put anything on it or offer advice of what you should use.
      Hypothetically, I would mix a color to match it to the darker hair. What color I mix would wholly depend on the condition of her hair currently.

    So funny that I was thinking I should attempt to bleach 3 years after I fried my hair horribly. Once again Hair Budda has saved the day. Every time I think about doing it he has a hair fail on bleaching. I have taken his advice on other ways of hair care. My hair is so shiny and it’s finally getting some length back. His dedication to these videos and the tips he gives along the way have been exactly what I need. Thank you Hair Budda……my hair and scalp thank you as well.

      If you do it correctly and condition your hair properly and regularly, it can be done safely. And you need patience. But everyone's hair is different, I'd have to see yours to know what to tell you.
      One good rule of thumb is if in doubt, DON'T DO IT! If you're having a bad day, not a great time either.

    She's massaging it in like a very bad home coloring job... AND THEN the SPOONING!??! AYE YI YI!
    These people wear me out. Your patience with the video (with appropriate concern and alarm) is amazing.
    I have only ever colored my hair (not bleached). But from 2003 to 2018, I had my phenomenal stylist play with color in my hair. A couple of times after I moved away from easy access to her, I did just color my hair again a couple of times prior to COVID. Since then, I've let my hair go natural, it's all pewter, some white & silver now. I think there's some natural brown in the very back. But if I was going to do something drastic, off to the salon I would go. I do not have a yt channel and I don't need views...and I wouldn't harm myself in order to get them.

    • @JSkyGemini
      @JSkyGemini ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, you shouldn't use metal with bleach, like no metal bowls and certainly no metal spoons.
      But the rubbing it in like shampoo, is very bad for your scalp, I'm surprised it wasn't burning more. I could almost feel it on my own scalp, cringing while watching her do it.
      I kinda thought I'd go at least grey as I got older, or like you describe yours, but nope, my stupid hair is turning some icky dark non-descriptive lack of colour really. I've been blonde most of my life, white when I was a kid. I don't know what's up but it has to go. Some people get lucky and have the most gorgeous shades of silver, grrrr!

      She didn't read the instructions fully and what she did read she just ignored. She's the definition of dunning-kreuger. She's had some coloring done and thought it wasn't hard but lacks any real understanding of the depth of knowledge to bleach/color hair. Given the condition of her hair prior to bleaching it's highly likely the next bleaching destroys what hair she has left.

    I've done a lot of (good!) bleaching to my own hair back when I was 15-22 years old. I was just never able to do my own roots. Having them properly done used to cost me 100€ each time. For a while my uncles girlfriend did my roots but they got married and divorced ever since 😅 so she's not an option. And I really don't trust many people getting my dark brown curly hair almost white. So every once in a while I think I want to go blonde again but your videos just always also remind me of how annoying it is (and how expensive!!) to keep up with the roots.

    Lil tip- you can actually mix developers, although I would only do it if they're exactly the same kind (brand & product). This is good if you're worried you'll run out or need something lower strength. So, if she mixed her 40 & 30 volume developers she'd get a 35 vol which is a better bet than 40. (40 + 30= 70, 70/2= 35).

But I dont use the highlift all the way through the lengths each time, I only use a 20vol developer, and treat my hair like a queen with moisturing haircare products. even though I do all of this at home, it costs if you want healthy hair that doesnt snap off!

    Honestly when I needed to kighten my hair a tad to get my natural colour back, I just put on Schwarzkopf's Blonde Me 30 volume/9% developer and left it on for 45 minutes. Got the darkness lifted. No bleach powder used at all. Just straight developer. Kind of a little hack I'd use if you want to bump yourself just a level higher.

    @5:37 I've been considering dying/bleaching my hair for a year now, and I'm wondering if I'm ready or not yet. But, my hair takes to bleach SUPER easy, I can get a bright yellow blonde with one treatment, in 30 minutes! Then on the other hand, it damages my hair really fast too. So I'm still watching videos and thinking about it 😊

    This makes me think of the time a friend bleached my hair. No sectioning at all but I got lucky and looked okay. I dyed my hair purple afterwards though, so that probably saved a lot

    Could you do a video on hair repair for overbleached hair? I am trying to save my hair but it is pretty damaged. Just wondering if it is best to do masks overnight or on wet or dry hair. Also what to look for in a mask or some that you prefer for home. Some are protein and some are moisturizing etc so it can be hard to decide. Also, is olive oil a good idea to put on your hair? I know you mentioned in the past that coconut oil just makes a barrier. My hair is at the point of the girls in this video before she starts. It sticks out and is frizzy and dry from bleaching too many times. Even though I went to the salon. Thanks so much!!

    Wish (if it doesn't already exist) they could come up with a color/dye that gives vibrant color on dark hair without having to bleach it first.

    • @gretarose101
      @gretarose101 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      They have hi-lift color (L'Oreal) that you mix w 30+ volume developer.... Not sure how vibrant it can get though.

    • @belaayya5094
      @belaayya5094 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's called hair wax. But nothing gets vibrancy and hair flow/mobility like bleach & dye, unfortunately. The color spectrum is a very exact science.

      I used box dye from Garnier that is made for dark hair. My natural color is the darkest brown/light black and I went fully coppery red with it. So it's possible to do without bleach.

    i have a hair journey i started last fall. i wanted to lift enough to use purple rage from adore. i knew i'd have to bleach my level 7 Brown for the purple to show and knew i didn't have to go full white blonde...orange was fine with me. i had used brown box dyes for years to cover grays. since it was post pandemic and we were still kinda slow in the job market i wanted to play with fashion colors like everyone else. dark purple wasn't too drastic so i started my journey. i have long hair. lots to color and lots to lift and lots of product. i had my work cut out for me. i used two hair color removers from the same manufacturer but didn't see any change in hair color so i assumed all that box dyed hair had been removed/replaced via cuttings and regrowth explaining why i saw no change in hair color. we were good to go. i used ponytails and bleached the ends hanging out past the bands so that i wasn't on my roots. my hair lifted to an orange/brown and i was fine with an ombre purple and loved it. i retouchd the purple twice and decided i wanted to try blue. i did the bleach bath to remove the faded purple that wouldn't come out completely. i went blue and loved it. but when it faded it was green. me not understanding undertones didnt realize the blue had green undertones. the color name ocean blue should have been a clue. i didnt find out til it started fading. and it was more stubborn than the purple so i did another bleach bath and sat with my now strawberry-blond hair for 8 months. it wasn't perfect. i had been strategic with the initial bleach job using ponytails so it looked like i had an undercolor style of brown under strawberry blonde. the strawberry blond has been great at hiding the grays. i recently tried to fix the dark stuff. i still have a strawberry blond color going on. my roots are untouched so it looks like a sight shadow root. I'm currently setting myself up to try and go for a grayish color by using blue shampoo to tamp down the light orange i have going on because i don't want to bleach again anytime soon. i saw a video of Guy Tang using a blue shampoo to get rid of the same orange tone i have going on and he toned the light orange to a grayish silver with the blue shampoo. part of my prep is using purple shampoo and conditioner to tone down the yellow bits and fanola fiber fix to fix and seal the hair before using the blue shampoo to tone down the orange. I'm suspecting the gray hair result i saw in Tang's video is really just the blue shampoo giving a "muddy" result over orange that appears to be gray in certain lighting. during this entire process I've used the Ion Brilliance developer and lightening cream as a bleach wash because i didn't want my hair to fall out at any point. it 's worked well for me so far. knowing the risk I'm about to take, I'm currently holding back on the blue shampoo step and considering using a direct deposit gray hair dye mixed with conditioner to control the amount of "muddiness" i know I'm going to get based on youtube university and watching hair buddah's channel. love this guy! pssst..the other image of the cabaret girl needs to go up on the wall next to the barber polls.

    Remember, don't use bags with ink on them, it will transfer to your hair!!
    If you rub bleach into your scalp like shampoo, you're really damaging your scalp and putting yourself through way too much unnecessary pain.
    And use sections! I've never seen anyone just slap it on top of their head like that, even most of the fails still try to section.
    I'm glad she's happy with it too, but it was too much like a carrot orange for me. I like deeper, richer reds, unless it's like the cool neon or holographic stuff.
