Man, Sterlo was a natural behind the mic. No wonder he had a long career in commentary after football.
I was watching the game when sterlo hurt his arm from a bar in magnetic island. Remember the tackle like it was yesterday. Watched all these games in Townsville… still remember that conversation from O’Connor. Heart breaking.
Sterlo was a commentor that night. Fairdinkum. In 1984 he was in commentary.
Bob Lindner was a great player. One of my favorites of all time and incredibly underrated!🤔

Watching this game and few other late 80s SOO games, I have to say that Darren Lockyer and Cameron Munster are better QLD 5/8's by a mile than Wally Lewis
Sure I'd say Locky and Munster are more skillful however the king is the king and that'll never change, the man was just different in origin.
Imagine comparing the skill sets of full time professionals to that of a guy who had a day job. Muppet.
Wally won games all by himself in usually an underclassed Qld teams. The others were in teams that arguably were the match or better than the NSW teams.

No, back then no one gave a f about trying to look good or young or stylish.
Look at the cricketers then too. I guess a pack of smokes a day really took it’s toll on the body.
