Been in his company on a few occasions, and this interview is exactly how he is with people. One hell of a player , a true competitor, and his words regarding Brett Hodgson are what defines him as a man. Very humble. Talks about his Man Of Steel in the UK. Just total respect. Reminds me of the great Arthur Beetson. Another true gent.
Can confirm this. I served him a few times over the bar and he speaks just this gently and softly with everyone. Dead set legend of Australia.
Spot on, met him 97 on great Keppel after 10 days fishing, he was talking to the boys asking about the fishing and spots. Don't think his girlfriend was impressed 😂

Gordon Tallis was such a player. He was such a competitor. My first Origin was watching that tackle he did against Brett Hodgson. Showed just what the SOO was about.
A true queensland legend! One of the best to ever do it. Hard working hard hitting no nonsense, passionate never backs down from anyone and a natural leader. He's exactly what fans would hope and pray for when representing Australia in ANY sport!
So many words to describe the great Gordon Tallis as a player......fearless, tough as a mallee bull, frightening, ferocious and just competitive. As a man he is very humble and such a great role model for any kid wanting to find their way in any sport not just rugby league. I admired him on the field and I admire him off it, he is a real class act 💯👍
Harrigan got the knock on call wrong, but Tallis should not have insulted the referee. Heat of the moment stuff. For us fans. What great memories and highlights of SoO. Gordie. What a player. What a warrior. What a QLDer.
And he says that in this interview. Harrigan DID get it wrong, but he wasn't a cheat, and as you say , heat of the moment stuff. As Gordy says, he didn't think he'd march him... but he did.

I loved Bill Harrigan, one of the best refs to ref the game in my lifetime, but yes, that wa one of the rare instances he got that completely wrong. Harrigan ins within his rights to send him off for that exchange. But I understand Gordons passion and in the heat of the moment to do that. Tallis is one of the best forwards to have played the game. and a QLD legend to boot.

I've never really rated it tbh. It's an old fashioned jersey sling by a big man on the smallest bloke on the field. I've seen plenty of better tackles every week personally. Best tackle for mine will always be Gillmeister vs Harrigan. Little man folding a big man in half with perfect tackling technique.

Gordon was supposed to turn up to my school with Nathan Brown. Nathan turned up, Gordon had better things to do apparently. Still hold it against him, kids should be the focus you make the effort for. Wasn't happy
As a veteran I don't like people who say they use drugs because they have mental health problems. I talked to my doctor. It takes 6 to 12 months to successfully diagnose someone with bi polar. But it took him 1 week

Gorden Tallis father played the same generation as my father Bill Robinson played for Leigh, Lancashire, Great Britain and parramatta in Sidney Australia. Wallis Tallis played for Leigh. Stuart Rapers father Johnny Raper played the same generation as my father Part of Royal cousin tree would look at the atmosphere make sure celebrities that played for our teams and against were welcomed from Australia and everywhere else. People that came from Australia were coming across early 1930's and 1950's putting Royal cousin tree out. Queen Elizabeth II treasure I am just Royal cousin with Ashton, Rigby, Bleasdale, Harrison DNA under shared Royal ancestor's. I did enjoy working at the Walkabout celebrity bar.
