Me: • I know I need therapy. I know I need help • All therapy/therapist: • doesn’t take insurance • if they do, you have to pay an insane copay • costs too much in general • Me: “It’s fine...I’ll be fine” ;-;
It's expensive in india too but I have savings. Then I think, will therapy really help me? Right now I'm sad but I do have a little money. After that I'll be sad without money. That's why I don't take it. And it's also hard to find a good therapist.
Sending hugs of understanding and support to all stuck in this time of seriously unmet need and mental health care turning into big business/online corporate platforms.
If it wasnt for my parents paying for my therapy out of pocket, Id probably be dead. I couldnt even afford betterhelp if I wanted to pay for it myself. We need a healthcare reform badly. Suicide is skyrocketing, depression and anxiety are getting worse and we dont have the resources to learn how to think and just be anymore and its dangerous. We need rework. We need help.
Must be nice there are miss who don't even have parents imagine you having a conversation with them. I'm glad I had a non privilege life or else I would be weak minded like you
@@snugzillal so you're happy that you suffered? You're happy your family abandoned you and left you for dead? You're happy people betrayed you? Brother. Go to fucking therapy. You need some serious fucking help. And that's coming from someone whose attempted suicide multiple times in a year alone.
I agree with this, however, the website, service, or platform have a responsibility. Maybe a rating system would help people choose a counselor and help the counselors monitor their practice. I don't know the website/s so maybe they do? I understand that not all therapists/clients are a good fit for each other, but it can be a costly affair both financially and mentally/emotionally for the client.
@@tonyoconnor3175 I have the impression, that most of the therapists on Better Help or Talkspace, aren't all that great at their jobs. You really have to cycle through a whole bunch before you can hope to not just find a "good fit", but just someone that even cares or can do their jobs at all. Saying that, I often find myself, just going back to local therapists, that have reputations, to get over that "even cares or can do their jobs at all" part, then I can focus on whether they are a good fit. However, in the times of COVID, I find myself having to turn back to online therapy, and I am dreading doing so.
@@davidswords3889 Hi David, thanks for your response. I agree that there are too many therapists out there that aren’t so good at their jobs. I am also a therapist! I’ll come back to that. I was forced to start working online for my employer at the time due to the pandemic, and despite my reservations, and long held belief that online practice wouldn’t be that effective, I have been almost shocked at how good it can be. My wife was also a therapist and believes that it can be even more beneficial. I am not looking for any clients at this point, however, as I can see the online option becoming more prevalent and required in the future. I carried out a few searches to see how things are, and hence I happened upon this discussion. I guess I’d want to reassure you that there are also a lot of very good therapists about, so please don’t give up, but, and I’m not sure how the platforms operate, I would hope and expect that the therapists populating the platforms would offer a free consultation to discuss your requirements and assess if they can support you in the way that you need to be supported. If they cannot, they should really advise you of other options, or make appropriate referrals when necessary. I guess that you might not find a ‘good fit’ even so. However, there might be other options depending on what part of the world you are based? Mutual support/self-help groups could be available and worth a shot? They could be a minimal, or no cost. I know that there is some of this going on in the UK, where I am based. Sorry for the long-winded reply. I am not going to a part of any platform. My service is still being developed and will be independent and monitored through my associations/registration bodies. It might be worth asking any potential therapist who they are affiliated/registered with and what standards are they required to follow and also if they can offer a free assessment/consultation. Good luck David, and I hope that this has been helpful.
When you said “ when you are really struggling, you should see an in person counsellor” flipped a switch for me. Out of intense fear, anxiety, depression and compulsions on these feelings that are unbearable, I have been living with these chronic feelings that are so intense for 16 years , I have been telling myself the exact opposite narrative. by doing the least amount of vulnerability work I let fear consume me. My emotions, feelings, thoughts and crippling paralysis have been so intense that I do the least amount of action because putting myself out there for someone on video or in person is a thought that is traumatizing to me. But if you are asking for help, real help, you need to be completely vulnerable and BROADCAST what you are dealing with in order for someone to help you. Such a simple phrase you said and you turned my entire world upside down in a way that I needed. THANK YOU. ❤️❤️❤️
Megan O'Quinn that makes me so happy that something i said resonated with you! i’ve realized that the tougher something is to talk about, the MORE important it is to actually talk about! i’ve been trying hard to be more vulnerable recently instead of holding it in and letting it consume me like you said, and so much has come to the surface to begin healing. i hope you can find that very soon ☺️❤️
I understand where you're coming from, however, after listening to your review, I noticed two things: 1. the counselor who wanted to push you a little out of your comfort zone didn't work for you. 2. the counselor who didn't push you out of your comfort zone, you considered a friend. I just listened up to 4:35 and have yet to watch the rest. At some level, you're going to have to take a leap or stay where you are. That's the reality. It looks like you're strong enough to leap, but haven't built the faith yet. In any occasion, staying where you are is the same as going backwards, since everything moves forward with time. Stagnation = backwards motion. It's better to take baby steps in the right direction even when scared.
Not everyone is fit to be a therapist. I don't care how degreed they are or how qualified they are. It's thinking on their feet that matters when it comes to helping clients. People who seek therapy are relying on therapists to know at least some empathy towards the client, and not forcefully pushing them to do something (ex: videochat... or meeting in person).
Started researching after receiving recruitment email from betterhelp. I'm a therapist currently working from home and aware of the need for support. I admire the way you changed therapists and platforms quickly and found someone who was a good fit though your circumstances were such that you couldn't continue. A therapist has to listen to what you are comfortable with and not push their agenda. And meditation can be helpful for some and very agitating to others! Panic attacks can come out of the blue so there's really no way to prepare for or get ahead of them when that happens. It's so hard to go to work and go to school and take care of whatever responsibilities people have and pay for therapy without adequate resources. Thank you for this helpful video and for sharing your experience, Chelsea. I'll check out your channel when I can😊
This is so helpful! I've been ignoring my mental health problems for a lot time and I've realized that I really need to start seeing a therapist but because of the coronavirus pretty much shutting everything down I though that this would be a great alternative. thank you so much! now I just need to get over the hurdle of telling my mom (Im under 18) that I need to see a therapist.
I told my mum the day before my first appointment because she had to drive me. I was so scared but im glad my family is really supportive. I know its really scary but youll be better once you let her know. And hopefully she will support you. Good luck ❤
@@cerealcow7272 we were sitting at a cafe literally the day before and i just said it 'mum i went to the doctors, they're sending me to therapy, could you drive me?'. We both cried for a bit but it was nice to finally tell her everything.
You can do it! I've been procrastinating it forever! So far I'm loving Talkspace if anyone reading this is from the talk space community share your experience!
Your reviews were thorough and incredibly helpful and I really appreciate the fact that you took the time to review both services and provide so much information about the options that are available for mental health patients who might try to use them!!!
Very happy to see a video of someone giving an actual review rather than dropping a link to make a commission, preying on ppl that need mental health help.
As a therapist I'd love to hear what worked for you since mindfulness and meditation was overwhelming. I tend to gravitate to mindfulness and meditation as a tool my clients can use but have run across many that say the same thing you have ?(common for those with PTSD and panic attacks). For them we focus on grounding exercises, redirecting focus and calming images, sounds or memories they can fall back on. Always looking to learn and adapt to new challenges as we are all so different! And thanks for the feedback on Betterhelp and Talkspace. Take care.
Mindfulness and meditation is a joke for people with real anxiety/panic attacks. Struggled for 10 years with “professionals” telling me it works. Meditation is not a bad thing, just not a treatment for moderate to severe anxiety.
I couldn't afford therapy and it's very expensive where I come from. I didn't believe in God but i looked around one day, i was so down but then i just called out to Him. It took a while but it has been getting better.
Oh my, I'm so sorry you've had horrible experiences. As a Mental Health Therapist it is extremely important to have a great therapeutic relationship with clients, that's the foundation of treatment! A poor relationship will definitely hinder progress. Happy you eventually found a good match and received the help you needed.
I agree with you about Better Help therapists I've experienced the same situation you were explaining with bad therapists. My current therapist is horrible!! I hate video chats I won't do them. Thanks for the review on talk space I'll try that one. Good luck to you hope you find the right therapist!
Kuan Chien i’m so sorry you’re having a terrible experience. i would definitely recommend trying talkspace! thank you! i hope you find someone as well 😌
Hi Chelsea. You mentioned that meditation made you very anxious and you couldn’t get your mind to stop racing. Me too! Then I discovered Transcendental Meditation. The whole point of it is that your mind does race, for TM that’s good! Think of it like a mouse running around in a box. With TM that’s what happens then eventually the mind gets tired and you feel incredible. I’d highly recommend looking into it. One of the incredible things for me with TM was that I was able to stop taking my blood pressure medication because TM reduced my stress that much. Technically, it’s the only form of meditation more effective than placebo. It’s truly incredible. At a minimum, you’ll feel 15% better.
This is incredibly interesting as one of the things that stops me meditating for long periods is my desire to not let go of my thoughts. I will definitely look into this thanks
I tried a free trial for BetterHelp a few years ago. My biggest fear with trying therapy is that all they would do is try to push drugs on me. Once I was assigned my counselor the very first thing she did, without even trying to get to know me first, was suggest I talk to my Dr about meds. That immediately put me on edge and made me wary of her. After I told her I wasn't interested in that, one again without spending any time finding out about me or my history, she just gave me a worksheet to do that I felt had nothing to do with me or my issues. I cancelled the free trial before it ended. I've been thinking of trying it again (I don't have insurance) but maybe I'll look into talk space instead.
That's something that I've always been nervous about as well. I would never trust a therapist that just told me to get on medication right away without talking to me first. I've been back on Talkspace now for almost a year and it's helped me SO MUCH through quarantine and everything. I talked to her for a couple months before she suggested that I talk to my doctor about meds, and by that time I already knew that I was probably going to need to go that route because my anxiety and panic were so severe. I really hope you can find someone who is a better fit for you and will actually listen!
Thank you for this, my parents refuse to drive anywhere to get me help and seem to only care about using online therapy. And because they haven’t actually look anything up I have to do it myself. This is very helpful and hopefully the price doesn’t effect them getting me this stuff.
I also really hope the price doesn't scare them away. Therapy can definitely be expensive, but it's such an important investment in yourself and your future. Online therapy would be a great option for you, I hope your parents agree ❤️
Chelsea Doss thanks I showed them and for some reason they just now decided that they can take me to in real life therapy. So I will be getting help thankfully. This is still a very helpful video so thank you
I had two therapists in Betterhelp, and it was horrible. The first one was an older therapist, she was falling asleep during my session. I asked to be changed and they gave me two free sessions. Then, I was matched to another lady, she was nice but she was also multitasking the whole time, because as she mentioned in her introduction, she has multiple jobs. Because of this multitasking, I didn't feel heard and like it wasn't worth my money at all.
THEY SELL YOUR DATA!!!! ⚠️ So please... b careful!!! ..lots online about betterhelp from originally having unlicensed counsellors (apparently now changed) to selling yr data to e.g.facebook & who else knows what. FTC has just fined better help & banned them from selling customer data.
I went thru 4 therapist within 2 months of joining better help, one refused to allow sessions past 30 mins which wasn’t enough time for me and the others were terrible and wouldn’t listen and also multitasking like you said and when I asked her if she was listening she said “sorry I must not have been paying attention can you repeat your problem” and the other one would cancel our appts last minute and only answer via text. It was wasted money for me didn’t help only made me feel worse
there are just websites to earn a bit of money out of your wallet because it is relatively cheaper and easier for a customer to spend this money in hopes to fix his own problem than meeting a real therapist
Hi Chelsea! Thank you so much for your evaluation of these two sites. I am a licensed therapist in Florida since 1994. I’ve been in private practice for over 2 decades, and because of COVID-19, I have moved to all online, telephone, virtual and text counseling. This has been a difficult transition, but it has opened my eyes to a variety of new ways of successfully treating my clients. I’ve thought about becoming a provider on a site like one of those you described, but I wasn’t sure how clients actually view these services, so it was enlightening to hear about your experiences. I appreciate your candidness! If you have any suggestions for therapists that can assist in making these services, or their own virtual services, more user friendly, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Thank you so much for watching and commenting! One of the biggest issues I had with all but one of my online therapists is that all of their responses back to me seemed very "cookie-cutter"... it was almost as if they were just typing something from a stereotypical therapists' textbook, haha. So definitely just listening to them and taking your time to come up with a personal response just for them! Thank you for asking this, I hope more online counselors will start taking advice from clients/users!
chelsea doss I agree. I tried an app like that and it felt like I was texting a friend and the response I received wasn’t helpful at all like OK. Like the type the same thing to everyone
You do text services at the moment with availability? I'm suffering from (non diagnosed yet) CPTSD, Anxiety cycles, family issues, Trust issues, Pornography addiction, former alcoholism, substance use, Poor self esteem, memory problems, low attention span, avoidance, hypervigilliance, low confidence. Thank you for taking the time to read.
Thanks for this info Chelsea! I've been looking for a online therapist for the past few months and this helped. It's pretty ridiculous that therapy is so damn expensive and I feel like that's the biggest buffer for most ppl who are looking for help, especially for students. But I think I'll give it a try. Solid video!
@@joeslacker1020 unfortunately I haven’t. I decided to stay with a local therapist of mine. The prices were too expensive and it was limited health care coverage
i as a minor cant find free therepy at all because my parents think its all fake when i grow up ill help children who are in the same situation as me rn
I’ve really been wanting to start therapy but it’s so expensive. And if I paid a good chunk of money for a therapist and all they did was tell me to meditate I would be PISSSSSED.
Thank you for this! I was about to sign up with Betterhelp. But I have now decided to look for a therapist who is local and has good qualifications and reviews.
Thank you for this straightforward comparison. That "older gentleman" therapist sounds creepy. I tried BetterHelp and I did not like my T at all. Perhaps my biggest issue is to feel like I'm being heard and acknowledged -- I need to vent, "to get it all out there" before I'm ready to accept any advice. I met with my T twice and both time she kept jumping in with all sorts of "good advice" that I didn't want or need. I was so pizzed, I didn't ask for another T -- just got the heck out of there. I will say that a couple of their "groupinars" I attended were quite helpful.
Jeanette Waverly i’m sorry you didn’t have such a good experience with it either. i never attended any of the groupinars, but that sounds really interesting! i wonder if anything like that is available outside of betterhelp? might have to look into that! thank you so much for your comment!
Sorry to hear that about your therapist. I had the exact same experience earlier this week where my therapist kept jumping in telling me what I should do before I could even finish venting. It was frustrating and she came across as too judgmental for my liking. Glad you got some benefit out of the groupinars, I'll have to look into that.
Thanks for sharing your experience with BetterHelp. I have 2 free meetings left (out of 3), then will probably not continue. I find the corporatization of remote counseling disturbing, expensive and awkward. In my first contact (I chose phone, not video), the lady was kind enough, but I didn’t get the sense she had much experience with my work-related problems. I think the free sessions don’t allow us even to get to know each other on a basic level. It’s just a way to be “heard” and to get general advice-like ‘self care’ and doing nice things for oneself as well as for others. But I might try a ‘groupinar’ while I can-thanks 👍
Hey love, don't give up on meditation! I suffer from ptsd , bipolar and my anxiety is the worse! "Was" for 3 months I tried mediation and it SUCKKKKEEDDDD I could not stop thinking and wondering and it was driving me crazy but one day it dawned on me. I'm trying to control myself and make myself calm down. What I did was just allow myself to have these thoughts which sometimes lead to anxiety attacks..... But I didn't want to give up so I kept doing it and what I realized is by allowing myself to release this cray cray energy I learned so much about what is causes them. Like I found so many triggers that I didn't know was causing my shit to go crazy lol I still have attacks but most of the time I can basically find the trigger and then reassure my mind it's okay. My mind is healing but my body is still a step behind. It was so used to reacting the way it did from past trauma. But mediation..... I need to do more of it. But it's not all light and bright and flowers and butterflies! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤭 it's going through hell. Mental hell. Anyways thank you for your video. I'm having a hard time at the moment and was looking into this.... But not sure 🤷🏾♀️
Wow, those are some really great points and ideas! Trying to find my exact triggers and rationalize my anxiety are some things that I'm actually really focusing on and working on with my therapist now! And, it's funny you'd mention not giving up on meditation because I'm actually trying the Headspace app for 30 days starting tomorrow (Aug 1) and I'm recording my journey to post on my channel! Kind of like a Headspace review but also just a meditation journey and how it worked out for me! I hope you'll watch it when it comes out and we can talk more about it! Thanks so much for watching and commenting :)
I have insurance Kaiser for a psychologist. I saw her once 90.00 . She did nothing. I had just lost my son to suicide. Now fast forward looking at out of pocket therapist and most in calif don’t see patients at all in there office due to “covid” the ones that do see their patients are not taking “new” patients most likely due to covid. I agree we need free health mental care. My son would be alive today if the mental health care industry and the government in general don’t really think this is needed.
Better help are stupid at least mine was, telling me other people were worse off, which Is exactly what friends woukd say that make you worse, more guilt and shame, could drive a person to top themselves. I needes someone with an iq that matched my own
When they suggest meditation it’s to prevent panic attacks and not to try and do it in the middle of a panic attack. You need to try and do it regularly even if you’re feeling fine .
Good call. Was going through the survey and got the idea of checking reviews before continueing. Thanks for your review. I will give other options a try before coming back to this ones.
Did you ever find an online therapist that does text counceling that helped you, if so what areas did he or she specialize in? Thanks man good luck out there.
"well if you already tried everything then i can't help you" i imagine you talking to her in a stern voice. I feel very strongly about this topic and its scarry to talk to people that dont have the capacity to accept you for how you feel.
Hi Chelsea, what you described regarding your anxiety when meditating sounds a bit like relaxation-induced anxiety. Quite common phenomenon. Thanks for the video, this was helpful!
I've tried both BETTERHELP and TALKSPACE. My experience in both places is exactly what you described in BETTERHELP. It seemed to me that the therapist paid their receptionist to do the texting. LoL. Is it possible to tell us who your therapist was on TALKSPACE? I'll give her a try.
Talkspace is 1000 times better than Betterhelp. I've been doing talkspace on and off for years. The counselors are caring professionals. The betterhelp "therapist" yelled at me and called me names.
I'm so sorry you had that experience with Betterhelp. NO therapist should ever yell or name call, that's terrible. I am happy you've had good experiences with Talkspace though. That's definitely the one that I've preferred

@@chelsweeee also, my better help therapists were AWFUL and talk space was so much better! But also so much more $ 😭 Side note: TM costs $ to learn but it’s on a sliding scale based on your income. Honestly I think that’s what helps is that it’s 2 weeks of classes/support while you learn the technique. You can research how to do it for free but the class is what helps “set” it and it’s the only meditation I’ve kept up w!

I’m pretty sure she meant “if you think everything I’m telling you won’t work, then I can’t help you”. Ex. Meditation isn’t about you controlling your thoughts, your mind is not supposed to be still. You are supposed to notice your thoughts objectively and not “control” them. Meditation is an awareness exercise. If you notice yourself being distracted, returned to your breathing.
This happened to me. I had a counselor help me with my mental health problems but she did say that it can't be a substitute for actual therapy. However, for me. She was actually one of the most helpful in dealing with my problem.
I would love to have therapy but I can't afford it. I appreciate videos like this as I was considering online therapy (as I'm disabled and mostly housebound, in person has never been an option for me), but the price tag is still too high.
It said that im not suited for online therapy. Maybe because i put that i have suicidal thoughts. Well i thought they were supposed to help people with depression, and what kind of depression doesnt come with suicidal thoughts..
peej i believe whenever it says you’re not suitable for online therapy, it means that you should consider seeking in-person therapy instead. however, i know that isn’t possible for many people. if you think you’d benefit from online therapy more than in-person, you could probably just redo the questionnaire and omit the suicidal thoughts part, and then just mention to your therapist that you have them. in my personal OPINION, they should be trained to deal with suicidal people. but that may not be the case for some reason.
I'm not sure where you are attending college, but you may be able to access mental health care at school, which is covered by your school fees. I did my therapy traineeship at a community college.
oml, see, this is exactly why I dont even bother opening up to ppl, bc ur experiences r literally what I cannot deal with, so i never ask for help ughhhhh
your second counselor on betterhelp was a HUGE red flag to me, begging every session to video chat when you specifcally told him you weren't comfortable.. yeah, no lol
I see this review was pre covid.. I just assumed these apps became popular since last March. Have you used them again, in the past year? Your review was well done, thoughtful, informative and insightful. Thank you. I am interested in what strategies she gave you in lieu of meditation to relieve high anxiety. Meditation puts me in a panic as well! Its completely counter productive for me!! Thanks again. I hope you will respond, since its been some time since this was published. I hope your schooling is going well and that you are feeling successful.

Great video. You do get what you pay for possibly. In the past in person for me has been 120 an hour. These apps give you 30 min and I’m sure they take a healthy chunk of the fees.
i wish counsiling was for free some people like teens who doesn't have money and parents who don't want to pay for it does need to talk to someone about their problems...
The only time I had access to any type of mental help was through my in school therapist and counselors. Now because of quarantine, all of it is just gone. Hopefully I’ll earn enough money to pay for some online therapy.
Thank you for sharing your experience so openly and honestly. I am a practicing art therapist looking to shift my in person counselling to online and it was helpful to hear from a client's perspective. Sending good energy your way!
I want to know where these places are getting so many licensed therapists when there is a therapist shortage going on! Either all the therapist are lying about the shortage or betterhelp is lying about their services. I wonder...
Many people are anxious because of the sedentary life most people are living today, behind a computer 🖥️. Hill climbing, tennis 🎾, horseback riding, swimming ( clean water) ,running, power yoga, volleyball, surfing 🌊 (if the water is clean), dancing etc are the best ways to relieve stress. This is why your anxious when you meditate. If you were getting a good work out every day, getting enough sleep 😴 eating healthy food, you would feel great 😃. Many women are deficient in iodine selenium and magnesium and are heavily fatigued and anxious as a result. Iodine is also directly related to brain health and IQ and helping to prevent cancer. Please do your research 😇❤️😇
I can tell you as a therapist with Talkspace it is critical to feel you have a connection as well as someone who is skilled in techniques like dialectical therapy and cognitive therapy. Also, someone who has empathy and warmth. I go out of my way for my clients to be certain they get the help they're seeking. Many insurances and EAP's pay for online therapy. Talkspace is VERY effective if you get the right therapist. I have seen messages to clients from other therapists (if you change therapists you can choose to have your chats forwarded for continuity) and some of the therapists really don't seem to put much effort into it. Be sure you get what you need!! It's your money and your time!! Best to everyone.

Sending hugs of understanding and support to all stuck in this time of seriously unmet need and mental health care turning into big business/online corporate platforms.
Same
Furthermore, insurance companies are picky about what they cover in mental health even when they do pay.
Well said! Definitely need more skilled therapists and affordable access, not corporate mental health care.
Very good response and the truth. 🙏🤞
Yeah I'm 12 and my parents managed to pay for therapy for a few sessions but it got way too expensive so we stopped

Brother. Go to fucking therapy. You need some serious fucking help. And that's coming from someone whose attempted suicide multiple times in a year alone.
I think it depends on your counselor not the website you use. They both have good and bad ones.
What if you live in a small town without a counselor nearby?

Your reviews were thorough and incredibly helpful and I really appreciate the fact that you took the time to review both services and provide so much information about the options that are available for mental health patients who might try to use them!!!
THIS, YES, ty!
Take care.
Can u be my therapist?
Mindfulness and meditation is a joke for people with real anxiety/panic attacks.
Struggled for 10 years with “professionals” telling me it works.
Meditation is not a bad thing, just not a treatment for moderate to severe anxiety.
@@DIYTFY lmao, I cant. This so called therapists ask why meditation does not work😭 how can it work for a person with severe anxiety and pa?

Oh my, I'm so sorry you've had horrible experiences. As a Mental Health Therapist it is extremely important to have a great therapeutic relationship with clients, that's the foundation of treatment! A poor relationship will definitely hinder progress. Happy you eventually found a good match and received the help you needed.
I agree with you about Better Help therapists I've experienced the same situation you were explaining with bad therapists. My current therapist is horrible!! I hate video chats I won't do them. Thanks for the review on talk space I'll try that one. Good luck to you hope you find the right therapist!
Kuan Chien i’m so sorry you’re having a terrible experience. i would definitely recommend trying talkspace! thank you! i hope you find someone as well 😌
Did you end up having positive experiences with TalkSpace?
That's unprofessional & happened to a friend of mine. Can you say kickbacks?

Because of this multitasking, I didn't feel heard and like it wasn't worth my money at all.
wow, talk about a bad 1st impression!
THEY SELL YOUR DATA!!!! ⚠️
So please... b careful!!!
..lots online about betterhelp from originally having unlicensed counsellors (apparently now changed) to selling yr data to e.g.facebook & who else knows what.
FTC has just fined better help & banned them from selling customer data.
For some reason MH agencies/therapists push BetterHelp, but TalkSpace looks cool.

@@albussnape2 Good luck on your quest. I hope you find a T - in whatever format - who fits you to a “T.”

It’s kinda suck when I developed anxiety since 5th grade, ‘till now 9th grade; it comes monthly.
It said that im not suited for online therapy. Maybe because i put that i have suicidal thoughts. Well i thought they were supposed to help people with depression, and what kind of depression doesnt come with suicidal thoughts..
peej i believe whenever it says you’re not suitable for online therapy, it means that you should consider seeking in-person therapy instead. however, i know that isn’t possible for many people. if you think you’d benefit from online therapy more than in-person, you could probably just redo the questionnaire and omit the suicidal thoughts part, and then just mention to your therapist that you have them. in my personal OPINION, they should be trained to deal with suicidal people. but that may not be the case for some reason.

oml, see, this is exactly why I dont even bother opening up to ppl, bc ur experiences r literally what I cannot deal with, so i never ask for help ughhhhh
your second counselor on betterhelp was a HUGE red flag to me, begging every session to video chat when you specifcally told him you weren't comfortable.. yeah, no lol
RIGHT!! it was so strange lol
Love that you’re doing this! Congrats on this! Such a big step :-)
Emily Dean aw emily! thank you so so much! 💕
Congrats on your first video! You killed it 💗
Jasmine beasley thank you jasmine 😄💕
Supergood first video! Awesome!
my sister just dropped $400 on getting me therapy on Talkspace and im soooo nervous.... im worried this might not be the best choice for me. Yea sure I simply just want a diagnosis, but im extremely anxious to be denied help or something- lol-
dang! i wish my boyfriend would give me the same response as a counselor😟
Same
@@Kinungyang fr tho. instead it be similar to that of a 9 year old 🤦♂️
Thank you for sharing your experience!! Ive been looking all over for a good review on this service.
five and three quarters i’m so glad you found it helpful! thanks so much 💕
7:50 It does say so in BetterHelp's TOS aswell.
Great video. You do get what you pay for possibly. In the past in person for me has been 120 an hour. These apps give you 30 min and I’m sure they take a healthy chunk of the fees.
That old man sounded like a creep ewww
I’m so glad someone else said this. It seemed very close to being more inappropriate than anything. Smh 😒
thank you for your honestly, proud of you!
i wish counsiling was for free some people like teens who doesn't have money and parents who don't want to pay for it does need to talk to someone about their problems...
i absolutely 100% agree with you. i really wish everyone could have access to therapy without worrying about the insane costs 😔
Do you help with social anxiety? If so, can you help me?
Pretty sure I had the same counselor that you did… that second one… creeped me back. I haven’t beeb back to betterhelp.
Do they have free trail like one free session?
I want to know where these places are getting so many licensed therapists when there is a therapist shortage going on! Either all the therapist are lying about the shortage or betterhelp is lying about their services. I wonder...
This was a very helpful video! Thank you for sharing!
Both of these options seems more expensive than the in person therapist I have been looking up.
i love the fact that you have supermarket in your background
so have you made an updated video?? just asking for the people in the back👍
I can tell you as a therapist with Talkspace it is critical to feel you have a connection as well as someone who is skilled in techniques like dialectical therapy and cognitive therapy.
I'm always so glad to hear from a therapist's perspective! Thank you so much for commenting!
Thank you for sharing your experience with online therapy, very very useful!
Therapy mantra also provides the best therapy sessions
hello! i hope you see these coment because it will make me very happy (first of all sorry if my english is not really good, im from spain) i´ve been working on a business idea that i want to work it out in America. That business idea is the same as BetterHelp, online therapist, but i am thinking on making lots of changes and advantages they dont have. wish me luck!!
Thank you. This was very sincere and helpful.
FunDuelist i’m so glad you found it helpful 🙂
Originally I was going to get a job this summer to buy myself nice things but I guess plans changed. I have been depressed this whole year so I think I should use my money on therapy instead😭
Im from the caribbean where its hard to find someone to talk to and i dont think this would work for me because of the cultural differences communication would be a major problem using these online sessions
@Mic Matt There are therapist on these platforms from various ethnic, sociocultural backgrounds, including Caribbeans. You can ask them for a therapist from the Caribbeans. They may ask why & you can let them know what your concerns are. All counseling programs give courses on multiculturalism.
Omg i need to know the therapist of talkspace that you like. Please
How i contact her? What is her name?
Oh im sorry hi my name is lit congratualations on this amazing video your vibe tops even the mist experienced and popular youtubers ❤
If I switch therapist, can I pick my next therapist?
hello.. very important question to me, when you were choosing a BT therapiest, what options you chose on type/age/gender..etc of person you want to talk with? this will help me to not waste my time &money on bad therapy
I cant afford it and need someone of psychoanalist standard or they just say the obvious, like you think duh! Of course I didnt think of that.
twangel mahoney Message SilencedVictims on Instagram he helps people get through depression, anxiety and other feelings like them. He offers therapy for 10 times cheaper than a Therapist that you would have to go to and speak to face to face(£25/$35). He helps you through text because many people may not feel confident going out and seeing a therapist. This also gives you time to think and really express yourself, he is there to listen and assist.
That was a really good review. That helped me a lot, thank you.
Ouch. sorry for the bad experience. only so much can be done without face to face therapy. and does Better Help refer anyone to psychiatrists for meds while they're seeing the Better Help therapist? Also I've heard this app requires face to face and also incentivize therapists with more $ for face to face vs. texting therapy.
And who developed these apps? are they mental health professionals or just silicon valley millionaire app developers??? sounds like Uber except it's therapy. hmmmm..... idk.
very helpful thanks for the greatly organized video. im planning to suscribe as a service provider and the client’s feedback is always best
Hey do you offer text services and have availability at the moment? Also what would be the areas that you specialize in? Thanks
It does seem you are running away from your fair. “It’s to hard to call so I flee?”
