Nobody can dispute the Piaggio is the sexiest propeller twin aircraft ever. What an amazing aircraft.
Sexiest aircraft period!!! :)
I think Beechcraft Starship is the Sexiest of them all, but it's a canceled production and if I recall correctly there are only 2 or 6 in existence, and I know one at least is still airworthy, and flown in Oshkosh.
@@techno_viking2609 Do not get me wrong I think the Starship is awesome too, but when I made that comment I was talking about currently produced air craft. I also think very highly of Burt Rutan the designer of the Starship, he is an aeronautical genius. The Starship had several smaller flaws and one gargantuan flaw, it was way overweight. It is over 1,000kg(2,204lbs) heavier than the Piaggio which equals worse performance, higher fuel burn rate, longer take off roll, worse climb rate, etc. If Beech wanted to revive the Starship and make it from modern ultra high modulus carbon fiber sandwiched on carbon honeycomb cores with a computer designed higher efficiency wing that would be incredible. The Piaggio has a high aspect ratio, laminar flow wing compared to the delta wing of the Starship, the Piaggio wing produces much more lift for the significantly smaller surface area. The delta wing has much more parasitic drag because of the longer trip airflow takes across the massive delta wing which slows the flow compared to high aspect ratio wing of the Piaggio. The Beech Starship was way ahead of its time and aircraft designers learned a lot about composites from this aircraft, but it just could not overcome its flaws.
I believe there's five still flying and one guy has three of them and him and another guy that owns at least one pretty much own all the spare parts.
@@techno_viking2609 Just looked it up and wow.. That's a cool looking aircraft!
It was a pleasure meeting you and checking out the Piaggio. I was the guy in Carson City with the Cherokee 235 that taxied you from the hangar back to your vehicle.
this was years ago.
No one in the TH-cam aviation space does videos like Owen. Every single time you post, i click. Another amazing video, looking forward to seeing more G4 stuff!
Thank you! More G4 stuff on the way!
@@FlyWithOwen This might not mean much but I really want to thank you not only for the content but for content with this plane. This has been my favorite private plane since one flew low over my house a decade ago and besides you, there's really no other content about it besides the occasional video trying to sell them
As he hits the prop with the golf clubs
nice explanation of the experience with the PIAGgio CFI
I second this sentiment!
I always look forward to your videos, they allow me to escape from a terminal illness for a nice period of time. Thank you
God bless you! I'm glad you have found an escape!
Very cool story, Owen . . . and a BEAUTIFUL sunset from "above".
Thank you!
That's an awesome story Owen, what a lucky find for an 18yo kid!!
Thank you! Yes indeed
Nice flight and nice to hear your experience. I am amazed how the Piaggio flies more like a small jet than a prop plane.
I love the unconventional engineering mixed with “Italian fashion.” Gorgeous.
Thank you, it is definitely more comparable to a small jet indeed
The sound at takeoff is like nothing I've heard before. Very unique airplane.
There are very few aircraft that are as sleek as this beauty is. I always love these Piaggio videos, Owen. The background you shared with your journey to fly the Piaggio is quite remarkable. Those sunset shots were just so damn cool. Thanks.
Great job Owen!
Excellent pilot, thanks so much for sharing.
Thank you!
That sunset coming out of the soup is what it is all about 🤗
Absolute BANGER
absolute banger of an editing
Edited by the best in the game!
Owen you are one of the very few TH-cam aviators who continually inspire me with every content you put out. Something about your aura is pure. Thanks for sharing your magnificent story how you came to fly the Piaggio Avanti.
Some time being in the right place does on Good. Thanks for the Story and another great Sun set Owen.
Thank you!
It's always fun hearing that thing come into San Jose. Just makes such a a unique sound, can always tell exactly what it is.
Awesome flight thanks! I'm amazed how much communication is still necessary between the pilot and traffic control.
I’ve heard so many “right place, right time” stories in the aviation industry. Say ‘yes’ to everything, best advice ever! Tough headwinds but you gotta take the good with the bad. Great video, great flight…thanks for taking me along!
Another incredible video by an incredible guy! Thanks, Owen, for sharing your story. You are an inspiration to all of us!
Amazing story Owen! Something similar happened to me. About 2 years ago, I took a discovery flight with a guy at CNO in a Gyroplane. It blew my mind.. I made a video about it and it went viral on my little channel. I approached him with the idea of a TH-cam channel and he went for it. Fast forward to today and he's making me a CFI and not only am I going to Oshkosh for the second time this year, I may end up going to Germany for one of the aircraft manufacturers we represent. Just gotta step up and take initiative!
Cool story! Thanks for
I like the way your voice gets 2 octaves lower when you talk to ATC. So cool.
He must impress the dude sitting beside.
@@operationcenterbravodudette
fantastic story of walking into a hangar like that.
13:30 whoa, beautiful.
Great story Owen, thanks for sharing! I saw 2 Piaggio's on the ramp at KABQ a couple weeks ago. Love those planes. Took a pic with our 182 parked next to them.
Awesome story Owen, love the videos. You're one of the few aviation content creators that gives a quality behind the scenes view and keeps it fresh every time. Also, as a controller myself, very much appreciate the comms in every video. Love the work!
Your videos are so influential, and full of helpful information. I hope to keep learning from you and follow your footsteps as I am a fresh commercial pilot and aspire to achieve the success that you have as a contract pilot. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos and help people like myself out! Keep up the great work!
Great to have another video 📷 from you Owen! Excellent 👌🏼 and excellent advice as to advance 💯 in life 👍🏼 totally agree! Take every opportunity 🙏🏼
Interesting story about you getting to fly the Piaggio. I always liked hearing that "snarl" from those pusher props when one of them flew into my local airport(HVN). I don't remember the last time that I heard that sound. It's been years. Thanks for posting your flight and talking about your experience. You never know when "that opportunity" will come along.
Nice video but be careful how quickly you raise the flaps in this bird. I'm sure you know how intense the sink rate can be. I know a couple Piaggio pilots that used to do that and eventually, during one instance, big gusts of wind came and sunk them right back onto the runway while obviously at high speed. Can just lead to unnecessary danger instead of waiting til 400ft. I've got about 5k hours in the thing so I've seen all sorts lol. Great work though and I am glad this beautiful machine is getting some air time.
You say you got about 5k hours on the thing but not a single post about it on your link. I see you had references to a sim profile, could this be the 5K hours you logged on?
@@henrylee8092 Huh? I don't think I was talking to you, sir. It was from one P180 pilot to another. He flew the plane beautifully, but that is something I noticed and as a fellow pilot, we shouldn’t be put down for pointing something out in a polite way. This is one of the first things your taught at Piaggio school at FlightSafety, the pretty intense sink rate. And if you were to get an engine failure in the Piaggio on takeoff, you’d leave flaps mid for a while until you’ve got a substantial amount of ground clearance due to the fact that a lot of lift is momentarily reduced when going from “mid” to “up”. Again, I’ll emphasize how great he was flying the thing. But my comment wasn’t meant for you.
Awesome video! Your content quality keeps getting better and better. And it started high to begin with 👌🏽 keep it up! Greetings from Denmark 😊
Great story about your becoming a Piaggo pilot...and a beautiful sunset on this flight.
10:18 I love these situations where the universe presents a door and you just casually walk through it into something amazing
congratulations Owen...really great of you to put this content out there. you're def among the top tier. great job
Thanks for sharing your story about how you landed the great gig. Awesome vid!
Enjoyed your story and enjoyed the flight.
Such a beautiful plane, and thanks for the great shots. Safe fly Owen.
Awesome flight! I went from fueling a Piaggio to flying one as well! Great airplane!
The Avantti is an amazing piece of engineering !
What a sunset. As beautiful as the plane you were flying
digging the cockpit POV
Thanks!
You Da MAN.... Thanks 👍
Love the content Owen! Thanks for sharing your flights and your career path!
Thank you!
Beautiful plane - great story - and wow, what a sunset.
I always have loved seeing this airplane (2where at my home base). Then they where sold to a compagny next airfield and now they got 8! I’m looking forward to be commercial and have a try with them!!
Yes incredible sunset oh so jealous. I loved hearing about how you got in that seat thank you. Really big fan love to see your success your and inspiration to young people Owen thanks for letting us see these flights 👍🏼
Thanks for the solid advice man
Both your girls look beautiful. Thanks for sharing your story. It help others that don't naturally have your positivity.
Perfect Sunday morning video to watch before my IFR flight lesson.
Smooth operator. Best ride-along aviation TH-camr of them all. No competition.
I cant be the only one that thought he had a dog over his shoulder at :44 for a second lol.? Absolutely sick camera work having inside and outside angles was beautiful! Love the story on how the piaggio became a thing for you. Right place and right time can be some of the biggest wins in life. keep up the great work man!
This editing is fantastic! From the intro, taxi, takeoff - the sound levels were perfectly balanced
Love your flying machine! she looks like a blue fin Tuna fish.
Its really cool how the rear gear folds up into the fuselage on the Piaggio! It's like a little fighter jet. LOL I'd love to see one live, I never really understood the canard thing. "Flap down" for lift to raise the nose? Very cool airplane!! Thanks! --gary
Great story, Owen. Saying “Yes” is a big part of having a great aviation career!
Hi from 🇬🇧 great videos. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Love this. The P180 is my absolute favorite plane.
Wow that is a awesome story of how you come to fly the Avanti, the filming of the flight was top notch, loved every minute!!. Can't believe how big it is inside and the performance its has, what a great aircraft!
Thank you for watching!
Your radio cadence is second to none, its pretty remarkable.
Love your channel. We wish you would post videos more frequently.
I'm getting back into aviation and listening to your radio chatter is helping me get tuned in. Love the videos.
Great video. One of my favorite airplanes.
Very nice! I agree that networking helps with being in the right place at the right time. Very valuable insight! Enjoyed those stunning views too!😊
Thank you!
Another home run with this video! Never fails, love the channel brotha! 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Thanks for watching!
Love the video man ! No truer words were spoken, had I not said ‘Yes’ to flying skydivers single ops on a Cessna 182 in a difference province (i’m from 🇨🇦) wouldn’t find myself as a co-pilot on a Citation right now. I’ve only seen a Piaggio once and it’s truly a remarkable looking aircraft. Can’t wait for more !
Nice job Owen!
We office at KSDL and will keep a lookout for you! 😎👍🏼
Thanks for taking us along Owen. Love the Piaggio 🤙
Awesome video! Keep doing more stuff like this!
🎉Great job, Owen! SCA Scottsdale
Love to hear the real life "PILOT" stories!.
ALWAYS A professional; video from Owen!
09:00. Be nice to aviation people. Be enthusiastic. If you are squared away, people in the industry will bend over backwards to help you along the way and give you much needed free advice (not to mention some free rides and experience).
That plane is badass Owen! Got my PPC in 1990 and stopped flying for 23 years after 2000. Just got back into GA and got checked out in (4) different types in the past 60 days and clocked (30) hours...One day I would hope to fly the big guns!! Love your videos young man...
Another fantastic video
Thanks!
If I had it to do over again!! I love the P180 EVO! Thanks for the ride! Enjoyed your story!!
Awesome life story. You seem to be a very proficient pilot. Right time, right place, right two people!
New subscriber here. I don't think it's possible to be cooler that Owen. that radio work... just awesome. Thanks for sharing!
Please, as much as you can from the Piaggio P180!! Love your videos
that's a beautiful plane
What an awesome story! A buddy of mine introduced me to the owner of a TBM 700 in Las Vegas, NV. I've been flying with him here and there for about a year now with another trip at the end of March to Florida. It's been a crazy experience, and I hope to meet a the owner of the Piaggio that I see occasionally here at my home airport one day.
Such an unusual aircraft but so very cool as well! Fun watching you sir!
What a machine, and what a pilot!
Incredible sights, with some fantastic views along the way. Love hearing your story getting into the left seat of the Italian stallion. I found the radio chatter very interesting as well. You can never be bored flying at night with a beautiful copilot in the right seat, you are truly blessed with your aviation career and choice of aircraft, and a beautiful girlfriend for icing on the cake.
I was particularly interested in the ILS approach when you decided to fly above the big birds wake. Fascinating stuff, at least in my opinion. I can't wait to see more of your videos on TH-cam, all these fascinating, all informative, and never long enough. Thanks for taking me along for the ride tonight.
P.S. Thanks for not doing 2x speed. I appreciate it.
Thank you for watching and the feedback!
Keep up the with the videos, love hearing your stories and always has a moral to it too! Hope to you in the left seat of a Dreamliner or A350 one day!
What an amazing plane to fly. Your a very lucky man to start fying at such a young age. At 61 I am past starting a new path for work.
Love your camera angles, good work! Amazing flight
Love the radio chatter giving you shot outs lol!
Props!
Beautiful girl, beautiful bird! Stay high brotha!
Great video and story. Good for you! You get out of life what you put into it. Nicely done sir.
New subscriber here!!!! Awesome videos as always Owen!!!!
