The hilarious part is this is so easy to turn around to the customer being in the wrong from the leftist perspective if you take the fact that they are trans out of the equation. Here we have a white person berating and trying to end the career of a working class Latino who’s accent is thick enough to reasonably assume he is an immigrant. The customer keeps trying to provoke an “incorrect” response from this man even after he apologizes for any wrongdoing on his employees’ behalf. The customer even goes as far as to make a remark that can be interpreted as racist when they condescendingly ask if the Latino manager can understand what they are saying. But I guess being trans trumps all other oppression points…

Most people have this flaw of placing value on the vapid opinions of others on a smaller level, but some need to make a big spectacle of it. Its not enough that other people don't care if personX believes in something. If there are other people around who don't buy into X's beliefs, then X is given cause for doubt in the legitimacy of their beliefs.

@@ozzy7609 lol bro it’s not happening, this generation as a unit can’t handle working blue collar style, with a white collar brain. Been in construction for a decade after leaving retail at 21 or so. Personally becoming an electrician has done me so much good, but I don’t see the average person doing full time work and then going to (government required as of 2023) schooling multiple work days a week. Get up in the 4 or 5 hour, get home as late as 10pm for at least 4 years just to get in the neighborhood of 40 an hour. (Sometimes more, sometimes less) That’s reality. The pay isn’t standardized, and union work as a first job is essentially being coddled in this industry. Growth is happening, but I see a lot of gen x attempting to get into trades, with bad backs. Sucks to suck
I work in the service industry as a teen and for the most part it's a good job, but there are always those people who act like they are better than you and know more than you as they are the customer. I once had a customer tell me this item they already bought was cheaper on this website that wasn't even our store's official website but some other site. I really wish I could raise my tone at customers from time to time, but no I have to be polite to them when they are in the wrong. I get it though it's just business and keeping professionalism, but still I want to punch some customers.

I've mostly worked at a pizza joint and some customers are just outright idiots. We're get hit with about 50 orders all at once so we have an avalanche of pizza coming out, we're scrambling to box them all and a customer asks "can I speak to the manager, I was told it'd be ready in 15 minutes."
The absolute look of "I am beyond done with this shit" on his face is priceless. He's trying so hard to be polite and accommodate this person's stupidity. They wanted him to blow up and go nuts so they would have a villain to defeat and he just wasn't having it. He knew better, hence the comment about this exchange being put on social media. "I assume you are a man." That was just the moment when he was like yeah, done with this bullshit now, I got a job to do.

Michael Palin went around the world in 80 days and the first salesperson he interacted with on returning was rude to him. Practically everyone else in the world was pleasant. But when unions have power and huge corporations such as the BBC and the NHS don't allow the best to rise to the top, the service is pretty poor, staff are overworked or have no incentive to 'be nice', etc. I've been to the US many times over the past 35 years and am always pleasantly surprised how friendly and helpful staff almost always are. It's shocking to us that waiters and bell boys only work for tips, though. If a Brit tips 12% they think it's generous, as by law they must be paid. I tend to tip higher in cheaper restaurants.

I had the misfortune of working at a big retail place (Starbucks) and at a mom-and-pop place (small coffee shop in my area. Difference is that at Starbucks my manager would bend over backwards to appease these freaks, meanwhile, not even the manager - the owner of the small coffee shop could sometime come out at the noise, look the problem customer dead in the eye and tell them to GTFO of their shop.

as someone who works at and basically manages a small business, it is truly a much better atmosphere compared to my old gig at burger king. I don't have to fake nice or concede to asshats yelling at me, I just open the door and tell them to get the fuck out and all my coworkers will stand behind me.

As I always say, on this topic, the customer is indeed often wrong. Customer service however, ends when the customer is no longer a customer. When the person in my store decides to stop wanting to spend money and instead just cause problems... Well, you're done being a customer and now you just some asshole causing problems in my store.

I was at a gay bar for a wedding reception a few years back. I called a man in a dress in his 40s with a wig on "mam" and it went over just as poorly as this. He said "I'm a gay man, I just like dressing in women's clothes, how dare you." etc etc etc. 20 minutes later, his lets call it "significant other" who was singing on stage came over and I said "sup dude" and she said(with a full beard), "I'm a woman, how dare you." etc etc etc. I went outside and watched youtube on my phone and talked to trans people who saw what happened and made fun of me further(was actually funny) until my wife was ready to leave. Who cares anymore honestly, if they get offended and freak out, fuckem, that's their problem.

Every customer facing job i've had (I mostly work in support roles, like tech or high level customer service) it's the dumbest people with the most entitled personalities that more than double down on something they know they did wrong. I used to work at a Krispy Kreme. They didn’t even train me to use the register. I legitimately had to just watch other people use it and figure it out. How would they teach someone to respect someone else’s pronouns. Most places can’t even train their employees how to properly make food.
I was given a total of like 5 minutes of training when I started working retail.
We didn’t have enough staff at the time to do anything more and we still don’t.
I wasn't even properly trained and I worked at a Goodwill each day for the first two months felt like surviving and self teaching everything.
Pronouns or whatever shouldn't even be the business of any company, just go into the store, buy what you need to buy, and get the hell out. You're not important enough for them to even know your name, never mind whatever play pretend games you have going on in your head.

I'd like to see them try working in healthcare. Some patients/residents are not in their right mind and will call you ma'am or sir and sometimes call you the wrong one. Best thing to do is just go along with it because they don't know any better. If they were to try verbally tearing into a resident they would be fired and possibly lose their license.
