I was at school in the 3rd grade when that happened my teacher gave us those eclipse glasses to watch it. the light out side looked so strange as if someone put a lamp shade over the sun. I do remember it being a dark orange color.

During totality you can look directly at it or photograph it safely, but totality only lasts a bit more than two minutes.

Actually, from what I remember, the last ring of fire eclipse was more or less than five years ago, not around the 70s or 80s.
Where I live the solar eclipse starts really early. It starts at around 5:50 A.M.

Yeah, I didn't get to see it. One, the sun in my area is already bright as fuck. Two, I was in my classes, and we had mo time to go outside. And 3, yeah, when you live near the California Mex border, you wouldn't be able to see it well.
