Congratulations Ryan. You look and sound at peace with yourself. Overcoming an addiction is extremely difficult. I couldn't imagine doing it with the whole football world putting you down for the past 16 years. Best wishes!
Grateful recovering alcoholic addict here. This show in & of itself may have helped hundreds, if not thousands of people suffering from the evil that is addiction, just by being on this show & pouring out his soul for everyone to see & hear. Ryan being so open, candid & honest on an Internationally broadcasted show, has earned my respect & admiration a thousand fold!!!
He had all the tool he just didn't have it between the ears. I remember him screaming at teammates in the locker room I thought dudes unstable. Maybe he had alot of people telling him he was better than Payton? Who knows.
WOW never seen this. Absilutely changed my view on him. Maybe this was his true purpose in life. Im glad he found it. Great to see him recover & admit he just didnt played well. This is very important for people with suicidal depression.
very sweet for dan patrick to tell leaf to stay in touch and that they are there for him. he didn't have to do that, and I didn't expect it from a guy who talks to hall of famers everyday. shows Dan is far greater than I thought.
This guy was a great QB, that's why he was picked 2nd in the 98 draft. Unfortunately some guys aren't built for the NFL, mentally he cracked. He stepped out on the big stage with the whole world watching, I'm sure he felt an overwhelming amount of pressure to perform, all the hype, etc, it was to much.
If given the opportunity to truly walk away and commence a new life in recovery, It would be an honor to learn a new way to live and help others in need, D.C,
I still believe Ryan can be a positive force and and clearly he already is. Recovery for those of us who have to face it everyday involves so many factors and aspects that we are humbled repeatedly. The trick of the thing is to face it head on and try to help others which he is doing and more power to him,he is both a cautionary tale and a surviver. transcendrecoverycommunity.com/team_member/ryan-leaf/
+Jose “Krazy Hatter” Moreno he had the physical tools but he didn't have the brain. he didn't have the thought process to get up and get better everyday, if he had that he could have been great.
It's good to see he is helping others ..... but no hope for Manziel until he really looks at himself .... as a former compulsive gambler I know that's the first step
Four years after this interview, Leaf was charged with domestic violence. He's one of those guys who has all the talent in the world but his mind is wired wrong.
Dan Patrick just takes advantage of these addicts. I remember when Leaf was on the show a couple of years and Dan said how great it was that Ryan had his life together and he didn't. Leaf is probably going to get arrested again or who knows and Dan will be like, "I thought he had his life together," and he will start TRASHING Leaf like he always does. Calling him a bust. It is a gimmick and it is wrong. Patrick has no integrity.
I don't think Dan has ever trashed Leaf, unless you can provide proof. I feel that Dan is a willing friend to him, but he wants better out of him, and is very disappointed in him when he fails. Leaf is a grown man, and Dan understands that he has to hold himself accountable. As an interviewer and part of the media, Dan needs to follow the eye test until proven wrong.
Leaf did this same exact interview when he came out with his book. Oh I'm great, I'm not doing drugs, yada yada yada. Him and Manziel have a disease. The difference is Manziel is dealing with the social networking part of this where Leaf just had to deal with the media. If I was Leaf, I would GO AWAY. Because no matter what he says, the media is going bash him and call him a bust. He will read the headlines and probably go back to drugs. That's how it works. I wish it didn't but I'm not naïve. He may have a good message but he's very sensitive and addiction creeps up it creeps freakin up!
What are the chances Leaf gets arrested for drugs again? I hope he doesn't but this is THE SAME EXACT INTERVIEW I HEARD LAST TIME! I think it is disingenuous of Dan to have him on, he gets arrested, and then he calls him a bust and loser. It isn't right.
Thanks for sharing, Ryan. I hope God brings more peace and healing in your life!
Congratulations Ryan. You look and sound at peace with yourself. Overcoming an addiction is extremely difficult. I couldn't imagine doing it with the whole football world putting you down for the past 16 years. Best wishes!
I do sincerely hope that Ryan turns his life around for the better and that he stays clean.

He would be a GREAT scout. He been to the bottom and he knows how guys will act if they can become a bust. Hope they can give him another chance
Kinda of messed up but yea.
He had all the tool he just didn't have it between the ears. I remember him screaming at teammates in the locker room I thought dudes unstable. Maybe he had alot of people telling him he was better than Payton? Who knows.
It's such a bummer that he wasn't ready for the NFL but it is HIS STORY so I'm proud of the man he grew to be.
To me he appears to be on the road to recovery, and that's a beautiful road. bless you!
Keep going Ryan God will help you threw!
Heavens Angels lol
Guy took a few mill from Spanos. Real SD hero!

Ryan Leaf saved my life on august 1st 2017. As of today 170 days opiate free thanks man, love ya and I am paying it forward every day I promise
Phil Moses awesome bro.
It is great to see him smile.
Wish you the best mr leaf, you may not have had success in the nfl like you wished. When it comes to life, you're a champion.
The guy will be the GOAT
Best to ever play the game
Peace and health to Ryan Leaf. Who's who can't hold a candle to what's what. Peace all around.
Much respect, Ryan.
Good luck Ryan, wish you the best
This is a good story. He cound a way to make a difference within himself, and to help a lot of people. Maybe it was meant to be this way. Good job.
So glad to see him doing well. I always felt very sorry for Ryan.
Why? He got himself into his own mess, nobody else to blame except him.
Because most mature humans feel bad for people who are suffering. He was lashing out because he was unhappy.
Luke W I don't feel any sympathy towards people who cause their own suffering.
He did it to himself. I feel bad for the Chargers who could have had Charles Woodson
Excellent

this was almost like a therapy session
Ryan Leaf = GOAT
Leave and go a away with your lies
that was his potential after seeing Payton Manning It's Scary To Think What This Guy Could Have done
+Jose “Krazy Hatter” Moreno he had the physical tools but he didn't have the brain. he didn't have the thought process to get up and get better everyday, if he had that he could have been great.
Jeremy Shutrump he could have been a Great QB But you are absolutely right he did not had the brain
Can someone help me reach Leaf? I'd like to help him.
Maybe contact his parole officer?
+Joseph Griego Federal Penitentiary*
Justin Spiro did you two ever connect?
Wow, he should be on Joe Rogan and tell his story.
It's good to see he is helping others ..... but no hope for Manziel until he really looks at himself .... as a former compulsive gambler I know that's the first step
At the end of the day, it seems like most people have problems in life. Life just isn't easy.
4/29/18, 10:25 p.m.
He sounds better than he has since he was drafted
prison sounds like a free hotel room
the big peyton manning jersey hanging over him is the best part
❤️

Wow prison these days!!
You get to watch tv in your jail cell!!
No wonder why people are breaking the law.
I still think he is a better QB than Peyton.
He has been to the bottom and even below the bottom.
