Treat this basically like an victoria 3 guide as we take Tunis, one of the poorest and worst nations in victoria 3 and turn them into an economic hegemon, taking the #1 GDP spot! Well, not really, but the thought is funny.
In reality, the avarage tax rate in the Nordics probably dropped after we became a democracy, due to the fact that the poor don’t have to pay taxes in a democracy.
Though, tax income is definately higher these days due to economic growth.

The way Laith speaks very specifically on how to cut that entire political portion out, just for it to not occur, felt more real than that joke usually does. I think he actually didn't want that piece in 😅

It does work, but in doing that you'll get trapped in their market and then you can't leave the market with your economy.

Well his situation was pretty ideal actually. Starting in another market which has a big surplus of several raw goods, and a severe shortage of finished goods.

It’s there because Vic3 sometimes just breaks for no reason - I’ve got a video coming out as Texas where I show a situation in which it’s super useful to fix things on the fly. Not really fussed if people think it’s legit or not to be honest, I’m just here to enjoy myself and entertain :)

@@CherriPicking honestly I rarely play Paradox games in Ironman, only when I'm specifically going for achievements. That's cause otherwise some weird bug breaks it or the borders are ugly AF(HoI4 I'm looking at you).
unless they patched it you'd get situations where a general would get stuck on an expedition forever - I had like 60 battalions i couldn't access. Need debug for that kind of stuff
I remember the aar for Tunis in victoria 2 and how it was Tunis vs basically everyone. Truly hard fought, emotional and it felt like a true victory against the colonizers.
I think this would actually be a fun series to watch you take Tunis to be the Number 1 great power. I think that journey would have a lot of twists and turns. Also, selfishly, I think it would help me understand this game better because I am a horrible Vicky 3 player still lol
i sucked a fair bit at the start, i had a ton of vic2 habits to unlearn. however the biggest help for me was realizing that you dont really want to nor need to build stuff in the same province as the production leads into. i.e I dont really need to put a steel mill in a province with an iron mine. kinda shouldnt put it there either since it'll just increase the infrastructure needs without a real benefit if I have another state to put it in
@@goranpersson7726 One good point of the game is the economical system is way more ergonomically shown without being less complex, quite the contrary even. I miss the complexity of the social class/profession system though.

The ¿funny? thing is what Laith described on the economy crash skit, happened to Argentina at least 2 or 3 times.
When you could have gone to the market in the morning and in the afternoon the price would have changed.

This was my strategy when I played Serbia back before the autonomous construction. I built up a furniture industry so large that I ran the global production of furniture anywhere else into the ground and drove the global price of wood so high that it triggered a global economic recession when the *Y U G O S L A V C H A I R* bubble finally burst. But by that time I had a level 531 furniture manufactory in Northern Serbia, fully employed, making buckets of money selling chairs to the world.
Isn't it weird how in a game like this with powers that are greater than you, that they would not only trade with you but also allow you to become so rich? Like how a small nation can go from 0 to hero within a few year, just seems weird to me.
That’s what makes the game bad, in Victoria 2 something like this is unthinkable.
Victoria 3 gives everyone basically a even start. Its childsplay to increase international standards like literacy. Countries in Victoria were called uncivilized not because they actually were uncivilized, but because they were seem by the major powers like that at the time. They weren’t equal, but Victoria 3 throws it all out of the window and turns is in to this unrewarding childsplay.
Hey was protected by the ottomans, but AI definitely needs to be more aggressive, not just when you gain high infamy but also gdp, you can play USA hit 1B gdp and you’ll never get attacked

He was protected by the Ottomans and then by the French and by the end his gdp was still only 45M. Thats not enough to justify going to war with France over.
@@yaldabaoth2 Imperator is fucked up, Vicky 3 isn't, the trail of salt following the release of every Paradox game is really tiring. The game is supposed the be an economic simulator, it does its job. It has many weaknesses but it isn't "amateurish", it even has many benefits over Vicky 2. I mean look, I will try to list each's games weaknesses from my experience, you can make your own list but I can assure you if you do it in good faith you will see it is at worst marginally less good than Victoria II...
Victoria II :
-The rebels system is bad (since it hinges on a single variable)
-Politics and economies are way too similar between countries (liberals, conservatives and reactionnaries everywhere, grain based agrarianism everywhere)
-The state system can often be atrocious in peacedeals
-colonizing has no depth whatsoever
-Very few local political mechanics
-migration is simplistic and completely ignores Asia and Africa
-The westernization mechanic is very shallow and extremely badly implemented
Victoria III :
-Starting literacy is too high in most areas
-Politics are a drag and mostly random
-No military micromangement whatsoever
-Economical development is way too linear
-No westernization mechanic at all, and no sufficent ties of political parties to the economy to compensate for it
-Political groups are way too uniformized and not enough tied to society
-Trade is weird (no real implementation of individual foreign trade, everything is controlled by the state even in agrarian economies)
-Wtf France?
There is a small country called Croatia in Austria, I challenge you to play as Croatia, become independet, destroy Austria, drive ottomans back, have full control over old yugoslavia territories, try to also be in top 10 powers at the end of the challenge. And if you by any chance find this easy I can give a few extra rules I guess something like "You must stay monarchy always, cannot trade with the austrians and ottomans (embargo em pretty much), cannot ally the austrians, ottomans, serbs, montenegro and russians. I think thats it. It could be too much even for such a CHAD like you".

Laity should do a Tunis mega campaign. if you don’t know that’s were you go from ck3-eu4-vic2 or 3 (idk if vic3 has a converter yet but moving on) and end in hoi4.
All these 'achievements' I keep seeing about how clever young chaps can turn any hellhole into the richest country in the 19th century just speaks to what a dodgy game this is. If it reflected reality this would not be possible.

The moment you enact intervention,ism the economy is insane. This is mostly due to the Industrialist Investment. In my Brazil game I very early got laissez-faire and made the Industrialists the head of my government. This resulted in the Industrialists paying 130k towards construction. This led to an insane scaling of the construction industry with the downside that if I ever stopped constructing Urban buildings my economy imploded.
At some point your economy just gets so big it doesn't matter whether you build or not. I can't make my economy negative anymore in my France game.

If you want to have a government without the need to have the faction that your ruler is in charge move from autocracy to an elective type. This means you suffer a smaller to no penalty for not have your ruler match the elected party

I know it's considered necessary for TH-cam to have a BIG title with CAPS and HYPERBOLE, but it would really help if you could write the name and sequence number (e.g. Tunis #1) of the country in the title so people can search for them :^)
