    Important note: I see a few comments that appear to link weight to Top - Heaviness. Top heaviness is high C of G irrespective of how light or how heavy a bike is. The Vfr has a relatively low C if G. 😊

      Nothing to do with this topic, but I have seen quite a few reports of 6th gear failing on manuals. Maybe an idea for a video?

      @@jeremyr62 Thank you for the idea Jeremy, if any of my subscribers mention that it's happened to them, it would be worth looking at. Presently I only have confidence talking about issues I personally experience. Thanks again though 👍

    Greetings from Norway. I have my first VFR ever, the1200F this year. So this is my first summer riding it. What I thought of is that, at first the VFR 1200 felt top heavy compared to my earlier bikes. But that's because they all were R or RR superbikes. 😅 So there you have it. Once I got familiar with the bike, it suddenly werent top heavy at all. It's a fantastic piece of engineering. So this bike will be with me for years to come. 🙂

    The term "top heavy" is arguably used subjectively within this context.
    Having ridden a VFR1200F I did not find it "top heavy"....however at 267kg wet it can take some effort during manual handling.

    • @Grahamvfr
      @Grahamvfr  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AW8UK Well although I wanted to remove subjectivity, I didn't want to get too technical. The thrust of the video was to accept that 267kg is heavy, but the C of G is low. If you man handle an adventure bike ( but not just adventure bikes) of similar weight or even ones with lighter weight, you'll feel the top heaviness, particularly stopping at say junctions with cambers etc . Thanks again for your keen interest 😊

    When I test rode the DCT Africa Twin I though something was holding the bike it was so heavy to get off the side stand. The VFR1200 is no problem to get upright even from lying on its side.

      @@StayAtHomeBiker That's it Brian, and it's a good 25 kgs lighter than vfr.
      I watched your weightlifting video... excellent 👍👍, cheers

    The blackbird was an amazing bike but that was top heavy!! the vfr1200f carrys it's weight low and thanks to engine layout has a very narrow waist.
    Keep up the videos Graham 👍

    It's a beautiful bike, one that I would desperately love to own (and that blue has always been one of my most favourite paint jobs on any motorcycle ever! lust lust) but to me, the whole "top heavy" argument isn't about slow speed riding, or lifting it off the sidestand, or wobbling it back and forth a few inches whilst sitting on it. Where the top heavy part rears it's ugly head, is when you put your foot down in an unexpected divot, get off balance, and are at that tipping point of blowing your back out trying desperately to keep the bike from falling onto it's side. It's only *THEN* you discover what top heavy truly means, lol. For example, an NC700/750X is not top heavy. A VFR1200? Erm, ya I think it's pretty top heavy really, based on my subjective measure of what it means.

    • @Grahamvfr
      @Grahamvfr  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LS-uv9gg Well firstly I really appreciate your kind comments its very encouraging. It beyond my production capability to remove subjectivity from the video (I wish I was Ryan f9 haha ) but your examples merely add value to my video. Id ask you to ride any other motorcycle weighing 267 kgs and stop in a divot or on a camber and you will find a lot more instability than the vfr12 (Which has a low 'actual' C of G not 'subjective' low C if G.
      The weight of the Vfr is much greater overall than the bike you gave in example and it is the weight you feel not where the weight is distributed.
      If a bike is difficult to raise off it's side stand (any GS, Kawasaki gtr, BMW k1300, early V2 tounos etc etc) then physics dictate that if you stop on a camber or uneven ground, then the effort to keep bike upright is relevant to pushing it up from leaned over. The added benefit also if the managibilty of the Vfr 12 is also the low seat which allows feet flat down easily.
      Hope that makes sense 😊

    Top heavy 🤣, I agree with you Graham, the VFR is not top heavy. Perhaps he did mean that there is quite some weight on the front wheel? The VFR is so stable and balanced…

    The VFR is a well balanced bike, however I'm in Italy at the moment, and having temporarily parked on a fairly steep camber, I did have to put a bit of effort in to get it on the level.

    My VFR800 is 240kg wet , so for 1200cc engine and a bigger bike 27kg more doesn't make a massive difference

      @@PATRYK-R1 I think you're absolutely correct, but some viewers still think the extra weight is carried high up, but the opposite its C of G is quite low. Much appreciate your input 👍
