Roger was never a perfumer by this. He was a creative director of Dior back then. The perfumer who created it was Jean Louis Sieuzac, one of the greatest perfumers of all time, who also created Bel Ami by Hermes (the best leather in the game, imho), Opium by YSL (another masterpiece for women), Or Black by Pascal Morabito (super understated oriental) and a few more. What interesting, he is very much known for quality of the work, and not quantity. Probably that's why he only has like a dozen perfumes in his portfolio, but all, ALL of them are absolute wonders.

Thanks for this review of this classic fragrance, Aaron. Fahrenheit was hugely popular for a number of years back in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It was the Sauvage of its day. I was blown away by it when I first smelled it. It was love at first sniff. I wore it constantly for about two years, but familiarity can breed contempt and I became a bit bored with it and started buying other fragrances.I still have a bottle of it of. My wife loves it and I still like it, but I don't love it like I used to. Like many classic fragrances, I think it lost it's X-factor when it was reformulated. Having said that, it doesn't smell old and I'd rather wear it than the countless identikit sweet synthetic bubble gum fragrances that are so popular with young people today.

For me Fahrenheit was in 1990 what Sauvage was 5 years ago...it seemed to be everywhere, as was Joop! and most guys over applied them so they came across a touch noxious, especially in an enclosed space. Each fragrance has its time then the world moves on but we keep wearing them mainly because of the memories they evoke even if the DNA of the scent is, well...'vintage'. Top review/breakdown as always ATH👍

I swear i got this earlier than 98 but no matter, iove it. So many scents are what i call "fish cologne" because it's so strong it overpowers many feet away, but i love this one. I also love Eau Sauvage and tragically for me, Gucci Rush for Men, which many times had people in a room sniffing the air till they got to me and said "Is that you I'm smelling?" It was my sweat and Rush as i used it as deodorant, lightly. I loved the way it mixed with my chemistry. It's so hard to find and sometimes didn’t survive intact due to age. But i have one half bottle and wear it on special occasions. For me, Gucci Rush for Men is amazing, with Fahrenheit and Eau Sauvage 2nd and 3rd. Iove your reviews and you seem to look even healthier than you did in the past. I Thank You and wish you happiness.

Fantastic. Out of my 18 in my collection so far. This is my favorite. I’ve only gotten into the fragrance game last couple of months. If I was gonna have a signature this is it. The note combination fantastic packs a punch but still comes off clean. Also I’ve read into the reformulations people with the new and also vintage bottles say this current one is the closest to the 88 one. Really good projection, excellent longevity and can be an all season signature. Maybe does favor fall, winter and spring more but can be worn indoors in summer or outdoors at night. My first pick up in my collection and I will always have a bottle.

Aaron! It's not what people expect . The most beautifully perfect English gentlemens aftershave literally has to be floris no89 , the drydown is beautiful especially layered on top with a smidgen of floris elite. They have stood the test of time for literally ions. Floris elite was originally a shaving cream developed in 1851, it was copied by Carlos benaim/ Ralph Lauren and released as polo in 1979, to this day I love floris elite as the new version of polo is rubbish.

Aaron, please try the Parfum version. It share the same DNA with the original, but is way more boozy, vanillic, smo(oooo)th and not as petroly. It's the most "niche" designer fragrance out there.

Hey Aaron, wana start off by saying love the way u break down and review fragrances quite different than the rest of the reviewers. I had a few questions, and since u are a perfumer as well as a chemist, I figured noone better to address some possible myths or misinformation going around the fragrance community.
    1) What does the expiration date mean on a bottle? Does it mean once opened and used, even if stored correctly in about 30 months, the bottle will start to go bad?
    2) Can fragrances be maserated, or is that a myth? If so, what is the correct method or process? Some reviewers have used bottles from 10-15+ years, they're babying. Are they just holding onto a chemical mess because air has gotten in, or has it actually gained potency.
    3) What does skin chemistry mean? Since skin chemistry makes fragrances so subjective, especially on longevity and performance, can we be categorized or just 8 billion different possibilities? Ex oily skin/dry skin, does it just sweat out of pores faster on ppl sweat more.
In my head it was one big ramble so I tried my best to break it up I'm sure the fragrance community has more questions.

Fahrenheit EDT was one of my first perfumes back in the day and try as I might, I just didn't like it. It was headache inducing. Thankfully, I discovered the Parfum version - it's much more palatable and has made Fahrenheit wearable for me.

I love the EDT more. I love the aroma of it. The scent is better than the EDP. The EDT smells much closer to the Fahrenheit formulation in the mid 1990s.

Has been my signature scent during almost the whole nineties ('till Boss Bottled) and is after EM Molecule 01 my most complimented fragrance of all time. 🤓👍
Only after being reformulated people started to dislike it. 🤔
PS: Molecule 01 has been reformulated as well, probably a few years ago.
Not even remotely close to the magic it was before. 😌
Hence, I understand why a lot of people started to bash on that one too. 🤷

    • @Jay-bw3fl
      @Jay-bw3fl ปีที่แล้ว

Molecule 1 is literally just iso e super. The only thing that could have been “reformulated” is the percentage of it in the bottle so I doubt there is a discernible difference and if it seems weaker then just spray more.

I even had a girl in a niche store smelling my 2018 bottle and she thought it was much better. 🤷

Fair review from a professional chemist. Fahrenheit was the best between 2000s and 2012, then they went back to the dominant petrol notes. If you want to get the best version of the fragrance, look them up, might not be as difficult to find as it seems(bought 4 bottles my self). And never forget, men admire this scent, not women. Thanks for another great take on a scent many of us love, Aaron!

I've smelled well over 100 fragrances. Maybe 200 at this point and nothing is as original as Fahrenheit. Not Black Afgano, not anything I've encountered. Nothing is quite like Fahrenheit. Lots of things have better quality ingredients. Lots of things are excellent. Fahrenheit singular. It's like Coca-Cola. An original recipe that just works and then influences things for generations. It also straddles rock n' roll and class perfectly, and warm and hot weather perfectly. The ozonic green violet leaf means it works in the summer. I have things 4 times the price and I still adore it.
