Guy the choker man and Gord the Skidder man. Just guys out logging the land with a nice Video of this work from the forest. The target range looks a lot clearer and more open.
GP, its good to have Guy there with you, not only for the friendship, but also for a second set of eyes and safety. Soon yinz'll be makin the backstop for that range!
Morning John! Yup, happy to be out there with him. We have a bunch of logs and will be ready soon to start milling them for the backstop. It's shaping up!
You've moved a lot of wood with your two 26 HP tractors, that skidding winch and grapple. And that chainsaw is something else. Looks like it was a good investment. It's all been enjoyable to watch. Hopefully your area got soaked with the rain. We needed it too, but did not get as much as we could have used.
It was funny watching you pinch your saw on the first cut, a buddy and I did the same thing last week!!! Thats why I carry 3 saws!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
LOL!! Huskie Bob and Guy know that at some point I almost always pinch it at least once, so they stand at the ready. LOL! I get ribbed a lot back in the woodshop. :))
Another great day in the woods GP. You've got that right, a self releasing snatch block is a must if you are going to be skidding logs. Sometimes you need to use more than one at a time. Have a great week!
Great days work skidding and saving the logs. You and Guy really did a good job. Hope you get some good rain that allows you to continue your work in the woods too. Thanks for sharing the skidder work and showing how valuable the accessories really are. They are a game changer for sure. Stay safe and keep up the good work and videos. Fred.
How's she goin'? Pulling out a lot of wood there boys. You'll end up with a nice range and winter's worth of wood. That winch is some nice eh!! What a dream getting wood with that. Take care!!
That skidder and pulley are so sweet. You can have my eye teeth for it Gord. Keep the videos coming. Love to see equipment that makes life so much easier. And yes, the No Roll chain sleeve works beautifully. My wife had the two saws in her garden tractor trailer and brought them to me in the woods and they didn't even slide around that much. And it's not a smooth ride out there.
Morning Jerome! Thanks for tuning in and happy to hear the saw saver is working out well for you. Both Huskie Bob and Guy have one now and use them too. Cheers!
Great work ! Love that winch, it's so fast, that the first time I saw it, I tough that you put the video in fast forward mode ?!? Looks all most dangerous compare to my CanAm Outlander winch ! On a different note, I was wondering about how you deal with ticks in your area ? We have a hunting dog club in the lower Laurentides and the ticks there are not so bad, but when we go for competitions in Ontario (Maxville, Vankleek Hill, Cantley... etc.) 50% of are dogs get ticks, so the guys protect themselfs at all times, because you do not want to get Lime disease !!! When I see Guy or yourself knee high in the forest, I just wonder how you protect yourself an Guys dog ???
Morning Frenchy! Lots of OFF with DEET. I do my legs, my socks and then after I get my pants on, I do my boots and my pant legs, and use regular bug spray for my upper areas. I am not sure if Guy does anything with the dogs. I have never asked, to be honest. Take care and stay safe!
Morning Jean! Thanks for watching. He has a variety of both. Paper on the backstop and several different types of steel targets to set up as well. Have a good week!
I love the logging videos Gord. Have a Uniforest 35M myself. Amazing the volume of wood these machines can skid in a day! Is there a reason you don’t skid full length trees instead of bucking them into short logs? Maybe tight turns on the skid trail or steep terrain? Just curious. 👍
Hey Doug! Thanks for watching. We assess each scenario as we go. And we consider that the tractor is a small compact and doesn't weigh alot. And then we mix in our level of experience/ knowledge. And then push the envelope once in a while as we learn. :)) Every day is a new day and we learn how far we can push it. Thanks again - cheers mate!
Morning! I am liking it a lot. A different geometry than the old HLA but the more I use it, the more comfortable I am with it. I will do a comparison sometime in the future for sure. Have a good one!
i just watched your video "606 Grappling Logs For Firewood!" where you use the new 'orange' gapple for the first time. Any insight as to why you got this/new one? Thanks again.
Yes good morning. Homestead Implements sent it up to me to try out last fall. I still have my HLA grapple and like them both. I will do a comparison video sometime soon. Cheers!

GP , love it. You have all the gear, garb, and toys. Guy pulls up and gets the job done with helmet gloves and a stick. Lol. Love watching
Cheers Rudy!
Love the Guy and Gord videos. That safety hat screams Proudly Canadian. And you’re getting pretty smooth with the grapple.
Morning and thanks very much Roger! Cheers!
That saw just flies through that wood.
Morning Walter! They sure did. I think my filing is getting better! LOL! have a nice week!

God day ! Yes, thankfully lots of rain this past week. Man, it was dry up here. Have a great day CS!
Awesome winch and you really are doing so much better bucking trees. I really think that winch makes the job safer.
Morning Bob!
👍 Cheers! ✌
Good day Ernest!
Thanks for the entertainment!!
Cheers Kevin!

Hey Gord, you guys are really getting good at this. Nice job. Please say hello the the boys for me.
Morning Bill! Will do for sure - hope you and Amanda are enjoying the new digs. Cheers!
GP, looks like you learned a lot, maybe thanks to Guy. One pinch, and then you were rolling on with the saw . Nice work guys.
LOL! Yup, it wouldn't be a day out there if I didn't pinch at least once. :)) Cheers!
Nice! A job in the woods is always relaxing!
Another great day in the woods GP. You've got that right, a self releasing snatch block is a must if you are going to be skidding logs. Sometimes you need to use more than one at a time. Have a great week!
Cheers and thanks JO!

Morning Grampie. It is a ton of help out there - and such a timesaver too. Hope you folks are doing well - take good care!
great video ty...............
Morning Frankie!
Darn nice video GP.. you’re getting better with the saw.. You didn’t hit the ground once.. now let’s see how you’re doing dropping trees.
LOL! Ummmm... how about just bucking 690? :)) Cheers my friend!
Well I was going to ask about that self-releasing gadget, but you read my mind! I think you're right Gord, definitely a must-have!
Cheers Chris!

That skidding winch and self release pulley make the job so much easier and safer! Another good video Gord, keep’ ‘em coming!
Thanks Randy!
You guys are putting in a ton of work…even with all the equipment, that will wear you out…thanks for the upload..:)
Great skidding. Keep up the great work.
Gp great teamwork. Keep up the great work.
Great video as always Gord. Doing that kind of work is good for you. Nicely done.
Great work ! Love that winch, it's so fast, that the first time I saw it, I tough that you put the video in fast forward mode ?!? Looks all most dangerous compare to my CanAm Outlander winch ! Skid marks in the timber,
Skidding timber = good content.
Are you planning on paper or steel targets?
Or both ?
Morning Jean! Thanks for watching. He has a variety of both. Paper on the backstop and several different types of steel targets to set up as well. Have a good week!
Unfortunately skidding on the dirt will fill the bark full of dirt & really dull your saw chain
I love the logging videos Gord. Have a Uniforest 35M myself. Amazing the volume of wood these machines can skid in a day!

Love your vids Gord, keep them coming. 👍
Great video! So how do you like the new grapple?
Morning! I am liking it a lot. A different geometry than the old HLA but the more I use it, the more comfortable I am with it. I will do a comparison sometime in the future for sure. Have a good one!
Thanks GP!
Nice video! Self-release rig looks nice. Does it make a difference whether you have the pulley facing up or down?
Morning Terry. I am not sure, to be honest. We always face it up but i imagine it should not matter. Cheers!
Great video. I noticed your grapple changed colors from what it has been (Black to Orange), any info on why you switched models/brands? Thanks!
i just watched your video "606 Grappling Logs For Firewood!" where you use the new 'orange' gapple for the first time. Any insight as to why you got this/new one? Thanks again.
