    Thanks for putting this video together! I just want to point out that the tap in F31 is backwards as the bottom of the host fuse connection supplies the power, therefore the left most prong in the tap should be mated to that. Doing it this way the power is supplied to each fuse independently, whereas having it backwards causes the juice to flow through each fuse in a zigzag pattern. You'll probably be ok, but just wanted others to be aware there could be potential problems if the tap is installed backwards.

      Does that mean the one on the right is backwards too?

    great vid and idea. Just for others, doesn't work on the 2013 escape. The cigar lighter fuse is one of the big ones in the engine compartment. Still have no idea what F61 labeled "cigar lighter and power port" in the passenger compartment actually does.

    what i did is get one of them cig power splitters and i cut one of them off then tapped the power on that switched one you had and ran the other leg to ground and tucked every thing under the center console. so now i still have a free cig power and less wires..

    Thank you so much for posting this. It really helped me out. I was having the exact same issue and I was thinking of trying to run wires and splice in somewhere but this is so much easier.

    This is my problem. I figured I would hard wire the camera into the fuse box so I’m not using up the lighter outlet.

    Hi. Thanks for this video! I've just been confused on how this works since you're connecting a permanent live fuse to an ignition live fuse which results in the permanent live fuse to become an ignition live one. Does this work because you're placing 2 fuses on the ignition live one and only 1 on the permanent live one?

    • @MrPashto96
      @MrPashto96 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know this is a very old comment, but yes. The permanent 12V connector is completely bypassed because there isn't a second fuse in that tap. Without the second fuse, only one blade of that tap is connected. You can prove with using a multimeter. Technically you don't even need the tap that goes into the cigarette lighter. You could just run the wire directly from the ignition-side tap into the host(non-live) terminal of the cig lighter port.

    • @idanny76
      @idanny76 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrPashto96 I have the same situation and trying to understand your explanation. What you're saying at the end of your comment is that you can tap and link both the ignition fuse to the power port fuse and it should make the power port switch from non-switched?

    • @JenMarco

      He plugged into a fuse that goes off when the ignition is turned off. Like turn signals or radio. You may as well hard wire the camera to the fuse box so you aren’t using up the cigarette lighter.
