- Pennywise is a form of It, the ancient evil haunting Derry, Maine for many generations with over 1M years of history to analyse!

It, also known as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, The Deadlights and Robert Gray, is the evil entity that has plagued Derry for over a million years. Throughout the novel, It by Stephen King, we receive a trickle of information regarding the history of It, from It's inception millions of years ago in an interdimensional void known as The Macroverse, to It's arrival in Derry before the Ice Age to It's ultimate battle against the Losers Club and beyond.
In this video I'll be going over the ENTIRE (!) chronological life of Pennywise / It, doing a complete breakdown and analysis of the character, discussing what drives It, what rules bind It, and explaining the events seen in the book that never made the movie or mini-series adaptations.
This will cover the entire known history of Pennywise from the creation of It to the present. Please note that this will only analyse the ancient creature as It is are written in the books of Stephen King. I will show clips from the movies as a visual aid, but for the purposes of Horror History, the books are canon!
I'll be covering every single detail we know about It from the book including It's origin, the mythology of It, the inspiration behind Pennywise, It explained + how it operates, discussing the different forms of It with the shapeshifting ability, and even talking about a few Things You Missed in this comprehensive breakdown and analysis of the character.

About IT Chapter Two
Evil resurfaces in Derry as director Andy Muschietti reunites the Losers Club-young and adult-in a return to where it all began with “It Chapter Two.”
The film is Muschietti’s follow-up to 2017’s critically acclaimed and massive worldwide box office hit “IT,” which grossed over $700 million globally. Both redefining and transcending the genre, “IT” became part of the cultural zeitgeist as well as the highest-grossing horror film of all time.
Because every 27 years evil revisits the town of Derry, Maine, “It Chapter Two” brings the characters-who’ve long since gone their separate ways-back together as adults, nearly three decades after the events of the first film.

CZsWorld what drink do you get when you go to Taco Bell
I bet most of that time was actually reading the feckin' book lol
So you probably won’t see this but I can explain the whole miniseries in the books thing. So in the Stephen King multiverse(macroverse what ever) both our world and king himself exists within his multiverse. In fact he wrote about a car accident he had(irl) but in the book it was caused by one of the evil entities (i believe from the dark tower series) trying to kill him. It’s weird
CZsWorld I’m sad right now because you don’t upload great videos like these 3 times a week... Me very very sad

I think the biggest disservice the It remake film did was reduce Mike's character and his family's connection to Derry and It specifically. The whole fact that Mike's father had a run in with It and tried to document weird occurrences in Derry makes perfect thematic sense when Mike later grows up to be a librarian in Derry and the one who stayed behind to keep an eye out for Pennywise. I thought overall the movie was great (scarier in several ways than the miniseries) but that change is such a waste.
I agree, giving Mikes role to Ben just literally turned him into the token black guy
Yea fully agree, that was a really bad call
AGREED , couldnt stop rolling my eyes,he was core in the book along with his dad and the black spot,he even went back to the sewers by himself to get the sliver bullets. big disservice.
Absolutely! Makes me so sad because Mike and his dad’s relationship was so pure, he was the only parent of the losers not to be corrupted by IT!
@@Rosie-Rose71 your not joking their relationship was so pure, thought him there's a time and place to stand up to your bullies. just them spending time together bonding and picking rocks.the darkest thing mike did was take his dads photo album without asking. them making his parents crackheads took me out along with big ben and that kiss.
30:07 one quick critique, its actually stated he killed himself because he knew It could only be stopped if all living members believed they could do it and he had doubts, so he ended his life to be careful
Is that what the book said or just the recent movie?

I know that the director has said that he wants to release an uncut version of the movies which would be like over 3 hours long lmao and also that they wanna do a third movie of pennywises past so ya it might happen lol
The extended version of both of them is 6 hours each so 12 hours total for both

Fun fact: The giant storm that almost destroys entire Derry at the end is a throwback to a line in the novel. The mother of one of the Losers said: "If you kill a spider, it's going to rain".
So when the adult losers literally killed the biggest spider in the universe, it caused the biggest apocalyptic storm they have ever seen. I think it makes perfect sense and is a great detail.
Corporate Billionaire you are a freaking genius..
Brilliant, I never caught that!
There’s also a storm in the book though...
Damn I never thought of that, Brilliant! Bravo sir 👏🏼
1-800-Wavy Well this guy is trying to say one line in the book caused there to be a storm in the movie, but there’s literally a whole chapter on the storm in the book. The movie directors didn’t create anything new there
What I really love about Stephen King is the fact that many of his books and characters are connected. For example in an interview he stated that Randall Flagg, the main villain of the Stand, and It might be the same character.
That's pure bullshit R F is a demon/wizard from Roland's Earth but 1000% it's not IT :-)
This doesn't make sense. Randall Flagg wants to destroy reality.
Can't really feed on people if they're all dead.
@@vladvah77can you just let people enjoy themselves
I think a good way to bring all of his media together is simple. An original story about some normal kid discovering the formation of his universe. He’s brought to the center of the universe by the turtle and he’s shown these realities (Shining, It, Pet Cemetery, Dark Tower) and he gets trapped in the center of the galaxy because maturin is at war with a descendent of It.
How can it be bullshit if that's what the author himself has said? They're his characters so what he says is reality whether you like it or not.
You can tell that guy was very hungry while filming 😂❤
I love that they released the remake 27 years after the original one.

Alex Waters shut your bitch ass up
Many many years ago, the first time I read IT. I could not lean over a sink without getting the chills. Still read it once a year.
During the Bradley gang shootout, Pennywise was also seen leaning out of a window, 5 storey's up, but the way he was leaning out was particularly odd. He was leaning out by his knees, like someone was holding the bottom of his legs and feet. like he was Floating.
Also, with Eddie Corcoran, he gets his head ripped off (: absolutely horrifying scene
The second hand accounts of pennywise were always so much creepier than what ended up going in the movies.
And he didn't have a shadow
it’s sad, because right before he died, Eddie said to himself "get to the light and I'll be alright" and "you’re not real!" to It after it grabbed him. If only he had known how powerful his belief was., if only he had made it to the light.
Pennywise: I WILL MAKE YOU AFRAID.

every time you showed clips from Tim Curry's "IT", I just kept thinking of Dr Frank-N-Furter

The power of cocaine 🤫
I actually would like to see a prequel showing him terrorizing Derry through the centuries.
Ernest Scared Stupid kinda has that theme, a troll who collects children and brings them to its tree and makes them into wooden dolls, then the tree drops brussel sprouts more or less and new trolls are born and the original troll evolves into a nastier version thereof.
Also why did he choose Derry, Maine of all places and wait until 1791 to wake up for first time or something, he missed the Stone Age, The Bronze Age, The Iron Age and for what reason?
i'm pretty sure andy (the director) said he's going to do a prequel like that, and then also release clips on youtube of like 4 hours worth of deleted scenes from both movies
“The thing” is kinda like IT, however less refined.
SynValorum He crash landed from space in Maine and stayed I guess lol, also he kinda got knocked out I guess from the crash and woke up later, hope this helped!

To me, the scariest thing about It was that It didn’t actually EAT the flesh of children to survive. It fed solely on fear, and often only took bites out of kids because that’s what, in their minds, the monster is supposed to do.
Wouldn’t it make most sense, to eat children heads? Like brains because that’s where fear and imagination come from
I think that’s more stupid than scary though. If you want to continue to eat, then just feast on the fears let them go and allow the fear that something will always come back to get you and that the monster is actually real. They would develop a phobia which is the biggest fear of all. So random!

If Pennywise were to attack my dog he'd take the form of my smoke detector going off.
Snarfsnarfff he would have to take a form of a door to scare my dog
Sydney P I completely forgot my dog was scared of brooms too
LOL it would take the form of a rabbit plush XD
Edit: (I'm serious, I uploaded a video if you don't believe me XD)
My dog is literally scared of water bottles....☠️
For mine we'd need a big black trash bag or the vacuum 🤦🏼♀️🤣
You do a great job explaining these movies, and I like the personal humor you add. You are very perceptive. We all owe you a big THANK YOU for your time.
IT 2 literally gave me nightmares for 3 months and IT 1 completely changes my daily life 💀

So I have a theory, bear with me here:
Stephen King is Bill, you see even though the losers club forgot about Pennywise the events may still reside somewhere within their subconscious'. Stephen King subconsciously remember the events and writes about them, unknowingly writing about his own past with Bill being the character that portrays him.
Mackenzie Acosta this is actually really interesting
@@zanaekendall459 thanks!
Bill Denbrough is a fictional character, so is Beverly Marsh, Pennywise, and everyone else. There is no macro verse, no flying turtle, no deadlights, it's all fiction, creative writing made up by someone's imagination.
Most complete memelord in the World god you’re dumb. It’s a fan theory about Kings place in his universe. King has he even exist in the universe and is powerless against the evils and just writes what is.
My theory...I extend my arm and with my I squeeze and make a fist.and then my fist hits u in DA mouhf

Thot Patrol me i will win i will kill it myself and have fun doing it the dead lights only make u go insane and feed him your fear i am already insane and have no fear so when he opens his mouth to try it throw a incindeary grenade down his throat i believe that will blow IT the hell up and burn the remains
I haven't thought about IT in years, but recently I've been getting into it again. This is such a good video. I wonder how Pennywise will return in the future, if he does.
