This was a magnificent concert by DH''s incredible new quartet. Jaleel Shaw was very impressive; he has a perfect time on alto.

This group is coming to the Dakota on Monday. Monday night - oof - and the shows at 6:30 (also an oof, since I gotta get into town for the show post-work) but I think I need to commit. Thanks for posting this! I miss living in SF and the jazz scene there.

YOU MUST SEE DAVE HOLLAND LIVE! His tone is second to none, and he always surrounds himself with savant level musicians. Guess it's easy to be that great and innovative when your hands are connected to and modulated by your heart!

@@guymoore6762 are you speaking with me ? I seen him live first in 1983 with gateway trio and then not less than 20 times more with all his groups and big band too and talk with him personally in more than one occasion

Loved the beginning tempo , followed by an exciting pik up at the Bridge. Saxophonist , Jaleel Shaw , is tremendous.

Nice with a slow tune other than a ballad. With everything going on in faster originals it can be hard to hear what really is improvised.

Beautiful composition! But that double bass’ sound 😞. Of course with that DB is easy to travel… but the sound has no air, no body..

I’ve heard Dave playing live with that bass and it has excellent tone.

Dave Holland has ever been a player with an electrified tone.

Blame the sound mixer, there's a microphone on the bridge and the bass does have a decent tone, it's just not in the mix - we're hearing all pickup sound.

I saw him live last week. There’s no problem with the bass’ tone.

I thought the pianist was of the high quality of musicianship and soul that I expect from someone playing with venerable Mr. Dave Holland!

@@fredtanner9257 I ' m just hearing here . I offended no one . Just considering here . Why is not possible share opinions ? Say you to me what you hearing here . Many many years ago I met John Taylor he was playing in trio with palle daniellson and Peter Erskine . Peter is the great drummer all we know but I told clear to John to me he was not the right drummer for that trio . John smile to me and told me" say always as you think " . We need to wait many years to read in the Peter ' s book as he written himself : I was not so wrong .
Repeat : I offended no one , just considering

Kris Davis, the pianist, is a highly original artist and a leader as well. She's taking a back seat here, I think, focusing on supporting the group.
Dave Holland played with everyone imaginable and broke barriers many times, I'm sure him and Davis have more in common than we can see at a glance. Give both of them some credit :)...
