hey! I go to Berkeley High School, the public high school Joshua Redman is from, and they just finished a massive mural of him in the renovated creative arts building. He has left his mark on this jazz obsessed school forever!!
Yeah, I've always wondered that; same for classical music. What would Louis Armstrong or Charlie Parker think of super crazy modern jazz? Or what would Bach think of crazy dissonant atonal modern classical music?
@@MsMojoworks "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven." he talked abt playing with something to prove in his younger days, as time went by, that fell away
Unbelievable piano solo. Brad was killing on it. Band is just incredible. John Scofield and Pat Metheny were definitely not want to go on after they witnessed this scorched earth version of ANIT. Lol
Brad is ICE COLD on this
Its like he distanced himself from himself 😁 I suspect a mind altering substance...
A Night in Tunisia for me was and is still a very difficult song and these guys just make it sound oh so easy. Wow.
It’s a relatively easy song but to play it this up is definitely not a feat to take lightly
@@natemiller6873rubbish it’s not an easy standard and this is virtuoso playing. Don’t minimise difficult standards
intro was absolutely jaw-dropping as was Mehldau's solo

@@OdinLimayeKnowing how forward thinking they were they’d probably be glad that we’re not playing the same things they were
I'm just gonna close my eyes and melt this piano... don't mind me.
There’s a video surfacing on the internet where Brad admits to not knowing how to play like this anymore.

In the intro there is little music, it is a kind of variety show without risk.
