  • In this video I’m going to share my experiences with a product which I deliberately chose for my House Vyronii Cerastus Knight, and which believe is significantly better than my beloved Tamiya Clear Colors. In other words, I believe these could be the best candy paints for your models, and after painting a whole bunch of Custodes vehicles using clear paints, I think I have a pretty good idea!
    Do you want to learn how to paint the new Cerastus Knight? Do you want to try a candy red or candy green finish for the first time? Or perhaps you’re looking for new clear color paints? Either way, this video is for you!

    Wow! The scotch bright trick is AMAZING lol. The end result looks so good. Not a mini painter, so idk if you guys bother to seal it with a final clear coat, but what would you recommend?

      HI Asim, sorry, YT decided your comment had to be held for review for some reason! Yes, I always seal it with a final clear coat - normally Tamiya XF-86 thinned with Lacquer Thinner; sometimes I'll add a couple drops of X-22 so it's less matt. Thank you for your kind words! What do you paint?

      @@TheRaceForTerra thanks! I print larger 3d printed figures but I love learning new things from the mini painters!

    I bought a bunch, moved, opened them a year later and almost all were completely dried out. Never got to use any of them. After a search about any way to use them I found a lot of people had the same experience. I will stick with Tamiya.

    Thanks for crediting me with the tip - I'd forgotten that one!!
    Really great finish, one day I'll have extraction and will definitely be trying the lacquers out.

      Credit where credit is due, mate! One of the benefits of having kept all my scripts from day one is that I don’t always have to rely just on my increasingly faulty memory! 😉 An interesting technique also without lacquers, I would say

    I have used Tamiya clear a LOT over the years, and my go to prep is Vallejo Metal Color Duraluminum… then Vellejo Metal color silver or chrome to create highlights. Do you think Vallejo Duraluminum and Chrome could work similarly to the AK extreme metal?

    • @TheRaceForTerra
      @TheRaceForTerra  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Warhammerdad, yes, for sure - if you apply it with the airbrush, ensuring that it's really thinly layered, I don't see why not. I like Vallejo Metal Color too, but I just prefer the airbrushing experience with Xtreme Metal.

      @@TheRaceForTerra Do you just order your extreme paint then? I cant find it locally anywhere. Thank you for doing what you do! I cant wait to use your techniques!! Its all amazing!

    That mottled metal effect without any clear color over it would be great for replicating galvanized iron sheets. Also Big fan of clear color lacquers. Tamiya’s lacquer line and AK’s real color have similar products if you can’t find the Mr Hobby version
    The AK Xtreme metal is a bit fuzzy on whether it’s an enamel or a lacquer. The bottle says lacquer, doesn’t mix great with normal oil/enamel thinners, and dries much quicker than most enamels, but is advertised as an enamel. It’s a bit of a moot point since it doesn’t need thinner and you probably want to clean it off your airbrush with something hot like acetone or lacquer thinner anyway

      Hi Steven, thanks for your comments. Yes, the AK Xtreme products are indeed supposed to be enamels. The Spanish language version of their website also confirms this. As for a cleaner, yes, I always use AK Xtreme Cleaner, which I use pretty much for everything. Highly recommended!
