    Do you list the supplies needed anywhere or do i have to skim through the whole video or transcript to note what all is needed?

    • @SamhainPropworks
      @SamhainPropworks  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In the case of this torch the whole thing is built from EVA foam floor mats, I believe it 3/8". The pipe for the arm is sprinkler pipe but you can adapt to use almost anything. I normally don't list materials needed, as I usually state what is needed in the video as I go along, as I completely suggest to watch the whole video as many cases I change my mind on design later in the video from my idea at the start. In many cases, these videos record my first attempt at creating all these props. I may go back in some down time and list the materials needed on each video. Thanks for watching!

    This great! 2 questions tho. What about the flame? Then how did you bevel the edges and make up the pipe? What exactly did you use? Could you show a few seconds of that? Please and thank you!!

    • @SamhainPropworks
      @SamhainPropworks  ปีที่แล้ว

      The flame at the time eluded me, and I had to revisit it at a later date to do it justice, you can find that here th-cam.com/video/ELaUHCJVXYk/w-d-xo.html As for the the bevelling of the foam, I used a rotary tool with a sanding drum on it to do the beveling, and then finished off heat sealing it with a heat gun, and I aged the pipe the same way, with the rotary tool. Maybe I will throw together a couple of shorts to explain those techniques quickly. I wish I had the luxury of fully explaining all the tricks I use in each video, but sadly it would end up 50 hours long! lol. Thanks for watching @tabathamccord5981

      @SamhainPropworks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Tom! I will be honest, I have not yet done a video on how to add a flame as right now it's a sketch in my book on how I think it might work. In a perfect world the torch would have a small fan driving some pieces of fabric to make the flame. I have a few props I want to revisit and add the electric/lighting functions to them. Thanks for watching, if you end up building one or two, I'd love to see the end result!

    You are awesome! Thank you very much!!! I need to make some of these, but with an actual fire light bulb. Probably will need to attach the top part to the exterior of the pvc tube instead of the inside (so there is room to hide the electrical parts inside the tube and put the light right in the middle) Now I just need to find this EVA foam material somewhere in my country haha, but thank you very much again for your creativity!
    I too want to add medieval stuff to a space of my house (an office) so you have a new subscriber!! :D

    • @SamhainPropworks
      @SamhainPropworks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Sasha! The Eva foam material is from exercise mats and they are pretty universally available (or I can hope they are). I had always intended to go back and do another video on the flame but to date the things I have tried I have disliked the final result! I am hoping to go tackle it in the quiet part of the year so keep an eye out for a second video on this lovely little torch! Thanks for watching 😀

      @@SamhainPropworks Awesome! I'll waiting for it then :D Have you tried with the fire light bulbs on amazon? They seem to do a cool effect, but if you don't like the look of the bulb on the torch, maybe you can create a "screen" with paper or something to cover it? Idk

    • @SamhainPropworks
      @SamhainPropworks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really like those bulbs but the ones I saw all need a electrical cord to power them, which with a torch on a wall with a cord hanging out of it won't exactly look the best :). I want to make one powered with a lithium battery that way everything can fit inside the tube and still look medieval. I was even thinking of a fan with a small light blowing on silk would look pretty cool as well :) Thanks for the suggestions though, if you build one, let me know what you went with, I would like to see it :)

    Your template link leads to a truck template. I have a perfect prop that is going to use this. Thanks for making it available. I have not worked with EV foam before so im looking forward to it. Would love to see if you have a way to just view all your available templates as well.

    • @SamhainPropworks
      @SamhainPropworks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well gosh! I'm not sure how I managed to link the template from the Christmas tree ornament instead of the torch, regardless thanks for catching that, it is fixed now! I'm thinking I just copied the base description from the last video and forgot to update the link.
      This torch is actually my first real EVA foam project as well, I had muddled with it before but had not used it exclusively for a project and it is a great medium. I am working on this weeks video and am finding myself getting more and more comfortable with it and the ideas are just exploding.
      I don't have a central list for all my templates, but I really should. Until then, any of the videos that need a template should have a link to go snag it (Unless of course they link to a truck ornament! lol)
      If you end up building something, I'd really like to see it!
      Thanks for watching Michael!

    This looks incredible! I’m planning on making some torches for a set, but they need to be very durable. I have access to a laser cutter, would I be able to make this out of wood?

    • @SamhainPropworks
      @SamhainPropworks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      These could very easily be built out of the wood using the current build tutorial, the rings around the torch would have to be designed as actual rings, as right now they are just bands that are wrapped around the vertical spines. The only issue would be weight of course so they would have to be held into the wall with a bit more of a real screw (Rather than the pin that holds it currently).
      But swapping the majority to MDF or the such would be easy as the plastic pipe would easily take the weight of the wood in the torch. If you end up building one, I would love to see the final result.
      I might make a 2.0 of this tutorial where I do build it out of solid wood :). Thanks for watching :)
