    Soooooo many youtube videos on "how to burn out a stump" by people who have no idea what they are doing... it is really nice to see a video of a guy who actually knows how to burn out a stump. Excellent video

    • @garyholt4445

      Most of the videos on You Tube burn the stump from the top downwards, with very little success. To dig around the tree stump and burn it from below ground level makes so much more sense as fire travels upwards, bit downwards

    Yes, storing a tree out will get rid of the stump but there is one hidden danger that few people realise! I had a fire through my 263 acre farm , did settlement and possession to find burnt trees everywhere! The trees burn through the root system! I was still putting out fires 22 months later! The trees roots were still burning underground and the soil would collapse and a new fire would start from there! Just wouldn't want someone to have the fire come up under their house during the night! Great video!

    • @chadbutler2287
      @chadbutler2287 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, this is how the majority of forest fires take hold in the Pacific Northwest. Lightening strikes will hit a tree and cause the roots to smolder. Some days later the smoldering fire gets a boost of oxygen when it reaches the surface, and then we've got a full blown forest fire.

    Best video by far on TH-cam for stump removal

    • @MaxGiganteum
      @MaxGiganteum 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      -- Best video on TH-cam for stump removal by far? I don't think so Scooter! All he needed was his truck the spare tire and a chain or strap at least 10 ft long. He could have had that stump out in mere minutes and I mean completely pulled out of the ground. All you have to do is connect the chain or strap to the bottom of the stump and run it upwards over the top of the tire which you set right next to the stump in line with the back of the truck and then attach the remaining end of the strap or chain to the bumper of the truck. Drive slowly away and the tire will rotate in the direction of the truck allowing the chain or strap to move across its circumference while pulling the stump directly out of the ground. Check for other TH-cam videos that show this very thing and you'll see it in action... no burning necessary. No time wasting necessary.

    Very good job, I have used a barrel turbo burner before it works good,
    One time I had this stump that had under ground roots that caught on fire and burned for days after the stump was burned away,
    I looked out in the yard and smoke was rising from the ground 3 or more feet from the stump area, finally got it all out,

    Leaving most of the top on reflects much of the heat back down, assisting the burning. This is a selling point you should mention. It also partially protects the fire from rain, especially if the upper opening is cut more towards the edge.

  • @Nunya_Bidnez
    @Nunya_Bidnez 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you add a bit of steel screen (thick heavy gage kind) to the exit hole and a piece of HVAC ducting it will help arrest the sparks as well. you can even make like a 90 then a 90 degree in it. Really keeps the hot stuff inside well. I recommend installing an old pump well near your spot if you can. Works so so well when you need water for the fire or anything else for that matter. Then you can keep some 5 gallon pails ready. We also use a garden tractor and a dump trailer filled with pails. So easy to drive right up to those fly away embers and snuff em out.

    Really liked this video and I tried this yesterday, but it didn't work and I'm not sure why. The stump in the video looks old but mine is new (3 days). Also, my oil drum was resting on the roots of the stump so there was a gap between the ground and the stump, and it was therefore letting in air underneath (while yours is below ground level. I fed the fire, which was raging like yours, for well over an hour, and I left it for 5 hours. After that, the stump was obviously charred but still solid, with a few embers inside. Any ideas what went wrong ?

    • @purebloodsunite7489

    I think it would be safer if you put a screen over the hole at the bottom of the barrel. How about cutting off both the top and bottom of the barrel. Then load charcoal to cover up the stump that you cut closer to the ground. Then after the starts burning, then attach a screen over the top and bottom hole to keep the embers inside the barrel.

      In Australia we sometimes refer this way or just 'oil drum' or 205 litre drum if you want to be specific but everyone knows what they refer to.
      They're very common on local classified listings. eg Facebook marketplace, gumtree etc.
