Probably, the most influential band of the original Inner Circle, probably because of his Death Metal past, influenced Fenriz the most and you can tell. And Nocturno its likely the most influencial dude of the Norwegian scene, at the level of Varg probably.
I love them, and following Bathory style not touring its always weird but cool

I love listening to Darkthrone albums with the commentary tracks, most are done by Fenriz but Nocturnal Culto does a couple too, but i've learn a lot about the behind the scenes on these records which not too many bands take the time to do that, the story behind Rawness Obsolete is funny, Fenriz was either at or DJ'ing at a festival show in Norway, which is what he does for a living besides working at a postal warehouse, doing podcasts and backup city councilman now not less when he's not doing Darkthrone,anyway he looked at some of the people in the crowd and was like "what a bunch of phony, fake poser motherfuckers here!" that's the general idea behind that song😂

Excited for the new album "Eternal Hails...", my opinion is that cult is alive to old star albums are just as good as soulside journey to panzerfaust. Fenriz blend of styles on food to underground resistance sound great to me and are stellar black heavy metal. Also love his vocals!

A blaze in the northern sky is what I consider my first black metal CD (I bought Bathory Blood Fire Death at the same time) and it will always be my favorite black metal album

I feel like many people don't understand their later stuff, it's very riff heavy and really drum heavy, seems like many people judge this bands music because of their lyrics, i play drums and guitar myself so i just single out the lyrics if im not into it that much, if their are nice instrumentals i just focus on that pretty much.
I don't have any problems with their lyrics btw, like at all. I think it fits their stuff :)

Glad im far from the only one who hates dimmu, but back to darkthrone i actually really like all darkthrone records PERIOD, some albums are weaker then others but what ever my mood im in i can just check my darkthrone archive and pick one of them, and enjoy it and im really glad i have that connection with this band, hands down one of my favorit bands to walk among us.

For me Soulside Journey cover is the best ever made along w From the Pagan Vastlands of Behemoth.Also Under a Funeral Moon is one of my absolute favourite BM album.
To me every single album has its own story to tell up to this day, Darkthrone is a very unique band. You should continue this Retrospective with the later albums, 2019 - Old Star, 2021 - Eternal Hails and the 2022 - Astral Fortress
Transylvanian Hunger is their masterpiece....but they had other ones. All releases up until The Cult is Alive were brilliant.

Under a Funeral Moon was my first Darkthrone/BM album and still my favorite. For some reason ABITNS never hit me as much as this one

Been a fan for over 25 years of Darkthrone, but Plaguewielder is easily one of their best and most underrated. The melodies at the end of "Wreak" alone are better than any single melody from their Black Trilogy.
I actually like the crust punk Dark Throne era, however I really do enjoy your reviews so keep It Up.

I wouldn't say Transilvanian hunger is the worst bm album they've made, but it's the most overrated one, or hyped up one
