      I am sure there are as many recipes of the soup as there are people who make it. The main ingredient is matzo balls and chicken broth. Other than that, you can make it however you want.
      How do you make yours?

      The classic New York diner version has just clear chicken broth and a single big matzoh ball. You cut off pieces of the ball with your spoon and take it up together with the savory broth.
      I have a box of matzoh ball mix up on the shelf, a box of chicken broth, and the weather has just turned autumnal. Sounds like dinner! Soup season has arrived!

    Nice video but correction must be made:

    Matzo Ball soup is a Jewish-American dish. I've never seen it served with bread. The Matzo ball itself is made from matzo meal. It is a dumpling. Your comments about it being a meal that is good for you are correct. There are scientific studies that show that hot chicken noodle or matzo ball soup has a decongestant effect!
    I would say that most Americans know what Matzo Ball soup is, but many have never tried it. It is available mostly at Jewish delis. You can also purchase a packet mix that contains the ingredients for the balls themselves. The ball is meant to be broken up and eaten like a noodle.
    It would be fun to see a series of videos where you try dumplings from around the world. I've never met a dumpling I didn't like! Thank you for the entertainment!

    Matzo is a kind of unleavened cooked & dried flat bread from wheat flour that is then ground into a coarse flour & still has some toasted flavored left in it before it's made into a type of dumpling for soup. Usually the soup has the herb of dill weed in it but there's no harm in substituting cilantro if Dill isn't available.

    • @fatkart7641
      @fatkart7641 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Believe me: yes, replacing anything with cilantro is harmful!
      Did you know Charles Manson may have been in contact with someone who once knew at least one person who consumed cilantro, or thought about it? Also, it has been proven that cilantro remains unfazed when exposed to extreme depictions of violence, destruction, mayhem or distress. This absolute lack of empathy is a trait also shared by serial killers and psychopaths.
      Yeah, cilantro is *that* kind of herb. So please, use dill.

    Matzo ball soup is my favorite soup ever! I do wish y'all had explained the matzo meal that's used to make the "ball" they were all so confused about. It's the ingredient that gives it that wonderful texture/mouth feel.
    Our wise and trusted "doctor" Tahir is actually more correct than he probably realizes about it's curative properties! They don't call it Jewish Penicillin for nothing! 💉
    The very best matzo ball soup I've ever had was at the Carnegie Deli in NY City! The matzo balls were the size of a softball and the one bowl was practically a meal all by itself!
    TBH, It's a typical "brisk" Fall day here in the Northeast 🍁 today and I'm seriously craving a great big bowl, right now! I think I have all of the ingredients that I need to make it, but it's already 1:45 PM and that's not remotely enough time to make a proper pot of rich, deep golden chicken stock. But, I think I can say with quite a bit of certainty, that we'll be having it tomorrow! 🥣
    Great reaction as always, guys! And I must say that the soup looked absolutely on point, so my very sincere compliments to the chef! 👨‍🍳.

Though I was not born or raised Jewish, when I dedicated my life to following a Jew named Yeshua (Jesus' name in Hebrew), it was just a natural thing to me to explore the Jewish roots of my faith, and start observing the Feasts. With Yom T'ruah (Trumpets), and the rest of the fall feasts coming upon us starting this weekend, it is a joyous time of year. I don't do Christmas or Easter anymore, there is Biblicsl evidence that Yeshua was born on Sukkot (Tabernacles), and I much prefer Passover, Unleavened Bread, and First Fruits to the traditional pagan based Easter celebrations. I thank Yehovah Elohim for grafting me, a wild olive branch, into the commonwealth of Israel (the natural olive tree) as the New Testament states in Romans chapter 11. So many Christians miss out on the great richness found in following Torah and the rest of the Tenakh, and I want to help them understand what they are missing. It is not a burden but a blessing!!!

      Shalom. I am wondering if the host knows it's a Jewish dish and if they passed that information on to our friends. Not that it makes any difference, of course, but it would be interesting to hear their reactions to that news.
      Food is food and, as all our friends have said in the past, they never say no to food because that is disrespectful. They are very aware of how fortunate they are to have food.

    Americans??? Not really... it is a Jewish traditional food and is eaten by Jewish people around the world. The balls are made from unleavened bread like crackers called matzoh then added to chicken broth. It's not an American dish it's a traditional Jewish dish. The matzo balls are supposed to be very soft like butter melt in your mouth... 🤣 the balls made here for the Tribal men seem to be hard as rocks... 🤣👏🏽💜

    Matzo ball soup is delicious. I've only had it or found it at one restaurant which I haven't been to in 20 years.
    This makes me want to go out of my way to visit that restaurant again. I'd forgotten all about it till this video reminded me, Thank you!

    I would love to see a "festival" of dishes for the people of their town...American, Italian, Mexican, Canadian, European, ...an array of foods set out on a table, like a buffet for the townsfolk to try, and choose on their own. Would be interesting to see which the children gravitate towards, as well as the adults. Allow them, as a town of hardworking people, a rest, and a HEALTHY meal to carry them all forward. ❤️👍

      I would gladly make them a wholesome French Canadian feast!
      - Cipâte (chicken, duck, rabbit, wild boar, deer - any game you can get -baked with potatoes, onions, bacon, spices and covered with a butter crust, slowly cooked for several hours)
      - Cretons (pork spread, made with pork meat, fat, onions, milk, bread crumbs and spices)
      - Tourtière (meat pie)
      - Wild blueberry pie
      - Sucre à la crème (sugar & cream fudge)

Gosh...if only we were all local enough to do such a thing. Maybe people can donate just for such a cause.

    In a pinch, Manischewitz makes a boxed matzo ball soup mix that's pretty tasty. All you have to add is water for the broth mix, and a couple of eggs, and a little vegetable oil for the matzo balls. If you want, you can add carrots, celery, onion, shredded chicken, etc.

    • @loscheiner
      @loscheiner 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree that Manischewitz makes a great matzo ball soup mix. For boxed soup, it’s delicious and it couldn’t be easier. Also, the mix is vegetarian! I add veggies and also thin egg noodles and a squeeze of lemon juice.

    I grew up eating Matzoh ball soup. However, don't assume most Americans eat this soup. This is a traditionally Jewish food and we would eat it on Shabbat every week. We also didn't have vegetables added to it, though that might have just been my mom's inability to cook.
