    I'm recent to your channel, but I just had to say how amazing these videos are. Look, I don't even play the game anymore, but this kind of feedback if was taken in by devs and implemented could get me back.

      Thanks. I can only hope that some of my thoughts and ideas are infectious and more people start talking about these things. Because I just don't think the game has a bright future on it's current course. But at least they are trying some course correction unlike most f2p mmos when things start going South. I guess I've just played too many f2p mmos and games in the past that popped off and died.

      @@Jukwol It's honestly good to find someone who doesn't have a skewed perception of the game because they experience half the game's content by swiping their credit cards. Even if I stop playing, I know for sure that I'll be watching your content to keep a tab on the game. Keep up the good work!

    OK, Hot-take: T4 would not fix any of the fundamental issues with the game, people gatekeep not because of feature (gem/card/ilvl/tripod/elixir) bloat but because doing multiple raids bacl to back on different characters is the most efficient way to progress your roster, the sooner that they do the raid that you're in, the sooner that you can get back to doing other, less-rewarding raids on your alts (I guess that people didn't do this as much on Valtan/Vykas because there were less amount of alts at that raid-ready level and they could carry). It's just players optimizing the fun out of their game, and the designers encouraging it.
    Take a look at FFXIV/WoW for example, do you think that people wipe ~100 times on a mythic boss just to get the best gear in those games when they know that a new patch will nearly hard-wipe their gear in ~6 months ? Hell no, they do it becuase they wanna raid challenging mythic encounters, that's it. I would go as far as to say that your character's gear doesn't even matter if you're joining a mythic guild because if you're undergeared, people will just boost you if they know that you're a good player.
    Coming back to what I said earlier, I don't know how you can ever fix the "optimize the fun out of the game" problem, sure you could go down the Hell Mode route, but people want their gear to matter and they want some kind of tangible reward, it's unpopular. Sadly, I think that they might've just written themselves into a corner with this one, the game might just be destined to bleed players until eventual death.

      Yeah, I say that Tier 4 wouldn't completely fix the game, as it would need a lot of other changes to go along with it. T4 on it's own will progress to be the same situation if nothing else changes along with it. I do think yes, that the roster raid homework is part of it but it goes hand in hand with system bloat assist them in gatekeeping since there is so many metrics to be seen and assumed, especially with roster level. And even if it was a one raid scenario, people would still not want to take a new player without any benefit. So yeah, overall the game needs a lot of work.
      FF/WoW players generally know they're on a 2 year clock until the next expansion. Which I wouldn't want resets to happen faster than that.
      I fear the game will go down the route of Vindictus. But a Tier 4 along with other changes would allow new players a way in and a fresh start for the playerbase. I see it kind of as the ship that could bring in all the other changes. I think a full hard reset is unlikely, but I wanted to put my thoughts out there regardless.

    • @GFClocked
      @GFClocked ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both of you are right. T4 needs to happen. It won't resolve issues by itself, but it could be a huge and good step towards a more permanent fix. Currently the incentives are to gatekeep, to run infinite raids, to be an a$$hole essentially. They need to rethink how rewards, homework, etc work. Add more casual stuff and variety, take some notes from other games.

      @kiritsuguemiya1603 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. What really fked the game is playing too many alts we play the game like a job . And all you want to do is to get rid of them .as you said they encourage this . I did math few days ago and if we play with 1 charecter 3 raids a week its 144 a year but playing 6 charecters its 864 raid a year . And man that is a lot and the diffrence is so big. Thats why we r burnedout thats why people are gate keeping thats why people are leaving the game . This is the main issue that they need to work on first.

    • @GFClocked
      @GFClocked ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kiritsuguemiya1603 there are multiple reasons why this is the case thought. It's a combination of not having enough content for a single character enjoyers + bad advice from kr streamers + game actually not respecting your time (so you need to farm a lot more to compensate for bad honing %, bad ways to get cards, etc) + because game is p2w and west [for the most part] doesn't want to p2w, this incentivizes over playing + bots diluted each players buying power (as you still need to compete somehow in the AH versus people that have p2w/rmt) + game is designed so that its very inflexible time investment wise (each week the game wants you to do x hours of stuff, but people have varying amount of time each week) + the 6 character limit and the gold/income not being locked to alts means people that don't want to play alts still do to juice out their main

      Thanks. I guess the problem with expanding for me is I just don't have a huge passion for other games at the moment. And the ones I do play on the side are games like Gunfire Reborn, Exoprimal now. Games with low commitment I can hop on with the boys after homework. I thought maybe Diablo for awhile but after I double downed I kind of lost interest in the game. While the idea of getting back into BDO from scratch without my friends doesn't seem that appealing. So I'm kind of in a rough place with games BUT, I do think regardless of our current views on Blue Protocol is, my group still plans to give it a fair shot on launch. So I do wanna see where that goes.

    Hi there! I played Lost Ark back when it was released in Europe and started to play again yesterday. But now I heard of a "reset"? What exactly does this mean to my character, when I buy skins etc? Do I keep them? Or will they be lost?

    • @Jukwol
      @Jukwol  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So there are soft and hard resets. A hard reset would be like when you transition to tier 1 to 2, or 2 to 3. You get entirely new gear and accessories, fresh new honing materials to farm. This is similar to how MMOs will generally handle expansions. Level cap increases, new endgame, new gear.
      A soft reset is like getting 1490 in Lost Ark. We transition to new blue/red/leapstones, and on top of that transferring gear over to Brel gear lowers your overall honing number, while still giving you a boost in item level and easing honing for a little while since your honing number went down.
      Now what you could also be hearing about is the upcoming Jumpstart servers, which they haven't released much information on. So how those servers will handle skins and such is still unknown.
      But in terms of a hard and sort reset, no, things like skins and such wouldn't get lost. You're still progressing the same characters on the same server. Because things like mounts and cosmetics are server bound.

    What would be the Ilvl to go to tier4? Thaemine will probably come with a soft reset so something like 1640/1650 would be ground for T4. That would still take a long time for the west even with a single character, not to mention alts.

    • @Jukwol
      @Jukwol  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have no idea what the item level would be. But honing historically gets nerfed. Look at T1-T2 and all the nerfs in T3 .As I mention in games that do hard resets, they have events and such prior to catch people up to be ready for the expansion etc.

    no shot a lot of the t4 praisers have played other mmos… they literally let you craft gear that’s relevant / past gear will be meta in new content until you get new gear. losing investment in this game is far different than others, you don’t have to play the other MMOs as much as lost ark to stay relevant.

    i disagree with tier 4 reset due to the fact that all of you guys don't even know what kind of reset y'all want. If a reset means my f2p hardwork goes to shit. Then I'll just quit :)

  • @gr8b8m85
    @gr8b8m85 ปีที่แล้ว

    Before a T4, Lost Ark needs a complete overhaul of its systems from scratch. Every single mechanic in the game feels like it was just made to pressure you into spending money to skip the RNG, skip the gatekeeping, or skip repetitive chores. You only get to have fun if you p2w or sit in discord all day waiting for a learning group. This is terrible even by KR MMO standards. None of them had such egregious design decisions every step along the way. No other game has Pheons. No other game has this overwhelming amount of RNG in their progression from cards, stones, gear, honing, accessories, quality, tripods etc. that you pay to progress in. But for some reason Smilegate, who clearly cares more about money than the game, wants to impose this BS on you.

    • @Jukwol
      @Jukwol  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, in another video I talk about system bloat and how much RNG is involved. These are all kind of problems that came with the F2P ecosystem. Which getting too vertical imo leads to games yeeting themselves. I'm lucky enough to have my own static which is were a lot of my fun comes from. But yeah, I just think they're focused on keeping the invested players over getting new players into the game and hoping they all swipe. But obviously announcing a reset creates a monetization deadzone which is probably their biggest concern regardless of how the results go too. I only buy cosmetics and the fake sub in disguise things in F2P games, and I know there's a lot of people like that.

  • @fgmxd4957
    @fgmxd4957 ปีที่แล้ว

    The issue you have never mentioned, to my surprise, is that LA is F2P game and a hard reset in an F2P game would be a financial disaster because they would be zero incentive for people to spend money because... well... you can just wait until next reset. Their financial model needs to change completely, which is highly unlikely knowing that not a single Korean MMO has changed their monetization methods drastically for the last 20 years, and that makes me think a true hard reset is simply impossible. Tier 4 would most likely be a semi-hard reset with several systems being carried over like cards, gear quality, collectables etc. By the way they have mentioned several times that there will be no complete hard reset like it was in season 2, so I think we most likely would expect ilvl and roster level reset but not much past those two.

    • @Jukwol
      @Jukwol  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I address that pretty much at the end of the video actually. That they don't want to risk the highly invested players getting upset over it and I wish they would move to a system where they keep players happy to the point there is just a lot of people buying things like cosmetics and such because they like it and just genuinely want them instead of having people saying have to p2w the game. The other game I mentioned, PSO2 post NGS update its the complete opposite of LOA. You can cap and get to endgame in a day. They damn murdered the gameplay in it and now the game survives purely off cosmetics.
      Season 3 was an actual hard reset, and Goldriver said even on stream he wants to go back to the Oreha days of people just having fun. If he really means that, then that is great. But they will need major changes. They have done this before, turning the season 1 game into what we know now. They are indeed capable of doing resets and making major changes, but that situation they knew they were circling the drain. And that's kind of why we've had multiple streams post LOA on, because the community isn't happy which reflected when Goldriver was directly reading the chat.
      From how he talks, they're gonna do every other effort they can do besides a hard reset to solve the problems. And though I do hope for the best, I think we're too far into T3. Though we'll have to see how they fix cards, because I do think that is one of the biggest hurdles for new players. But yeah, given all the factors, I don't think we'll get one. But that won't stop me or other people from talking about it.

    • @GFClocked

      Another example is BDO. Look how generous it is, and p2w is not really a thing.

    • @Jukwol
      @Jukwol  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@GFClocked Yeah. Since I never went too deep into BDO I couldn't really cover it as a topic. I played it at launch but all my friends played wow still. So I got bored not having the homies. But I've been vaguely following it after the recent updates with stoopzz content and general reviews of the changes and it all seems pretty good for the health of the game.

    • @TheOverpow3red
      @TheOverpow3red ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jukwol The funny thing is, BDO bombed in KR and it was probably the best thing that could've ever happened for the game. The devs actually had to listen to global players and after a 180 that took a few years, it's now a much better game that can manage to maintain a healthy playerbase. Probably the best thing that could ever happen to LA is the same, just look at the reason why they scrapped all those fun game modes they were thinking of implementing on winter LOAON, they scrapped them because the KR side didn't want them, it's a shame.

  • @TheOverpow3red

    OK, having not watched the video, but; any talk of T4 is hard copium when there's a sizable community of KR rice-eaters that push back against any kind of economy shake-ups (hell, they were angry about their new, 1540 express event, imagine the uproar if they said "scratch that, all your items are a lot less valuable now"). And even without that, the way that they design their content and scaling is fundamentally fucked and actively harms the new/returning players while putting the people at the top end even more ahead. Soft-resets are essentially free ilvl for people that are already ahead, normally games like WoW/FFXIV push the bottom tier of their player base upwards with world/new raid content that reward higher tier loot than the previous update's hard-mode (where the more invested ), but with LA, it's the top end reaping the benefits of an ilvl push while the losers twiddle their thumbs waiting to push for the reset ilvl.
    Even if you disregard the ilvl, (I'm not sure if I remember this right, but) they explicitly said that they can't rock the boat on cards too much because a lot of whales swiped for it, and making LOS18/30 essentially free would ruin the whales' confidence in the game (that's probably the same with gems too tbh). And Gold River already discussed T4 in some Russian interview according to Zeal, and they essentially said that it would be less of a hard-reset when compared to T1-2-3 jumps, as an example they said that there would be no penalty on T3 gems on T4.
    Having now watched the video: I'm pretty sure that LA will go the way of Vindictus. There's no way that a significant portion of new players will stick with the game when it's such a chore to get to the new, exciting content that everyone is learning together. Like, you'll always be two steps behind an experienced player because by the time that you manage to catchup, you'll be gatekept hard because everyone and their mother will be done learning the boss. And this is without taking into consideration how the player-base keeps on taking these -30% hits each month and because of that, the chances of a new player getting enough people for some horizontal content dwindles.
