JVC HR VP636U VHS VCR. Wont take a tape or eject a tape. VERY common issue with this series of VCR.

This is a JVC HR-VP636U VHS VCR and it has a VERY common issue with VCRs from this era. It has a little tab that breaks off from a spring loaded mechanism that engages the cassette carriage mechanism. I have repaired many of these units over the years and it is a no parts required repair. Thank you for watching.

That's definitely not the original remote, as it looks like one from a mid-eighties machine. On the plus side, at least the basic functions still work as the codes are the same!

The spring could be used for brakes, Try fast forward or rewind, if the spindles keep spinning after you hit stop that means there is a missing tension spring.
