    Thanks for this. Super helpful for disassembling a similar JVC VHS player.

    maybe he tried playing a svhs tape and thought it was broken.maybe the seller on ebay listed it as an svhs machine.

      Bet you are correct. Sad the buyer didn't know what he was buying. Easy to see from the pictures it is not SVHS. Lot of sellers have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to VCRs. I think if they see lights come on the front panel they say it works good with no other testing.

    My local cable company turned off the analog broadcast just last month, on the 20th of September 2021. They said they needed the space for some more modern services, more HD channels and faster Internet connection. I can't blame them, I actually thought they had done that about 10 years ago...

      They shut down here several years ago. Where do you think I got my professional head end modulators.

    Hopefully this is a lesson for the buyer/owner of that VCR. Always do your research. Seems like he bought just a plain old VCR thinking it was an S-VHS, and didn't do the proper checks beforehand. Remember kids, if it's an S-VHS player then it'll say "S-VHS" on the front.

    Well that's a bugger :-(
    Not your problem dave.
    Maybe next time he will look up the model number before parting with the cash.

    Is the the one where the spring breaks the tab on 1 of the slide levers because it was under high tension? If that's the mech I think it is always checked if spring was floating around on the board before plugging in. Usually JVC cost more so we usually called it junk very costly.

    Wow? How evil or cheap did they had to be to put the mode switch stuck in there?
    And I thought that Panasonic's G mechanism was annoying with the soldered mode switch and witchcraft with the solenoid lol.
    Sucks to hear what happened to the owner.

    it must be outrageous to ship things into Canada. USPS prices are crazy. but fedex or ups is cheaper about half price compared to USPS. i just sold a hoover vacuum on ebay it cost $28 to ship and weighed about 25 LBS. that VCR probably only weights about 10 at the most.

    • @12voltvids
      @12voltvids  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      But UPS and Fedex charge broker charges to the receiver, and that is not cool. I pass broker and taxes on to the shipper. Or I refuse the delivery and the shipper gets it back freight due.

      Cost more to ship USA to Canada that Canada to USA and we pay a fuel surcharge and it is still much cheaper. USPS is really expensive.

    I have a jvc HR-VP58U vcr and it's not ejecting properly as when I put the tape in it goes in half way then spits the tape back out then turns off how to fix this problem. I use to fix vcrs but I never had one that did this before?

    I have this exact model. It won’t eject. It starts to, but then re-loads. Simple fix?? Please advise on anything I could try, thanks!

    • @Krista.Williamson
      @Krista.Williamson ปีที่แล้ว

      It actually doesn’t take it in either, I have to push it in, so I’m guessing loading/ejecting mechanism ? But not sure what to look for…

    I think you might be able to change recording speed to EP by setting a timer recording.

    I would still suspect the mode-switch.

    • @12voltvids
      @12voltvids  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No indication the mode switch is problematic and the time to remove replace this one makes the unit scrap. Worst design ever.
