  • Here is a video of Phoebe and I visiting Algonquin Park in hopes of catching my first brook trout. It is important to note this all took place on Omàmìwininìwag (Algonquin) and Anishinabewaki ᐊᓂᔑᓈᐯᐗᑭ land. We are so grateful to have spent some time in the beautiful area and tried our best to respect the environment. This experience will be with me forever.

Congrats on the first brook trout!
I still remember catching my first brook trout, it was a small 4 inch fish, but boy was it a good looking fish!!
Great to see another fly fisher is out there at Algonquin, I thought I was the only one 😅
Great video, looking forward to watching more adventures!

Great vid. What other sorts of flies were you using the river?

Hey thank you so much for watching! I started using a copper prince nymph which was only catching fallfish. I moved onto a stone fly stimulator, then a brown wooly bugger and finally a muddler minnow with some orange! I hope that helps, I think I was using mostly size 8 to 10

I love this! You guys were already swimming mid may? Congrats on your first brookie. Algonquin is a beautiful place to catch your first one. When you hold them, put one hand under the belly by the pectoral fins and one around the tail. They calm down this way and the fanned out tail makes for some pretty photos.
Also, do you mind if I ask what river you were fishing and where you accessed from? I want to try there with my fly setup as well :) haven't got a brookie on the fly in Algonquin before

Thank you so much it was such a blast. I really appreciate your comment. I was just running a gopro 9 here, though it has become such a pain to use these days as it’s not very user friendly. I’ll keep an eye on your channel!

@@reeloutdoorscanada so I usually just use the clip mount which I attach to my paddles or life jacket. I also have a head mount for my helmet and a tripod I use occasionally
