I've been suffering from depression and panic attacks. The Monkey Mind theory and this video have helped me so much. I send it to everyone I think needs to hear it. It brings tears to my eyes. It makes me feel so hopeful. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
same! i was in a really tough spot this past spring and i happened to stumble upon a video where he was talking about the monkey mind and it just shook my world and made me see things so differently. glad its helping you too! :)
Sarah Jane So nice that these videos help you, I can relate because they also helped me during my burn-out. Good luck with everything and know that happiness is also there for you! Mindful greetings, Simple Happy Zen
I get out of my depression with meditation. Continue with your path and you will get out too. The black dog will always be there, but he won't be you. Get it? Take time but works. Is the natural path, i think. I never liked the idea of drugs...
Video summary/ points: 1:24 Our nature is good. 2:22 But why are we good? What are the good qualities? We all have wisdom, love, compassion, skills, capabilities, powers, knowledge. Some we know, some is yet to be discovered. We are more capable than we may recognise. 3:26 the Buddhist way of seeing things: Vajrayana. Seeing wisdom within the defilements. 3:48 The five poisons / five defilements: 1) hatred / anger 2) desire / attachment / craving 3) ignorance (not knowing) 4) pride / arrogance 5) jealousy 4:13 from these defilements may come problems and suffering, like depression, panic etc, which influences your behaviour - causing disharmony, violence; social and even physical problems. 5:24 These defilements are "man made" - human made problems. This makes us sound bad, right? Not quite. Our fundamental nature is GOOD. But we might not see that while the poisons are at work. 6:22 our mind is like water. Just as the surface of water may have waves, if you go to the depths, you find pure, pristine, still water. The surface is where the defilements are - not at the depths. 7:15 ask yourself: what do I really want? The defilements may make themselves known; the first answers you get may come from the surface level. Anger: "I don't like this" / "I don't want this" Craving: "I would like this!" Ignorance: "I don't know..." Pride: "I'm the best!" Jealousy: "my friend has become better than me..." These all relate to "I"; I want, I don't want. 9:00 now just assume and ask, "IF I can get all these things, THEN what do I really want?" There are many layers, just keep going further. After some time, you'll really connect with your basic wisdom, which is always within you. Note: You may misinterpret your basic wisdom, interpret it the wrong way. 9:36 this basic wisdom is the real cause of happiness, of freedom. 11:03 the basic wisdom is not related to the defilements. It is really genuine. 11:22 so what is the basic wisdom? There is love, compassion. You understand the impermanence of life. The surface claims "permanence"! But deep down, we realise the impermanence. This is where there may be fear and internal conflict. Let the surface mind go. 13:06 when you breath deeply, your mind relaxes. Then you can connect with that basic wisdom. 13:33 so, start with the question "what do I really want" and dive deep. Then you may find something really meaningful. Each person's journey and findings will be different. 🙏🙏🙏
I am practicing this since a couple of years but few realize. My partner has even participated in retreats with Tergar but still got into depression. It also takes a decision to see and really take this all in.
Namaste. I just want to share something. His voice, his presence, his nature and the being gives one so much calmness and stillness. That is the most beautiful thing I have ever felt about him. And an great enlightend master, that's clear. Om Shanti 🙏🏾
At first person tries to recall his inner world and trying different types of practices and doings , but he easily forgets inner world when busy in world affairs. Then there comes a time when he will become tired of every practices and doings, .. and his sensitivity start to increase. Then there comes a time when his sensitivity becomes so deep that he does not need to remember his inner world but he will get reminder and messages from everything around him and whatever happening inside or outside of him. Everything drags him inside, and he becomes so deep that he starts to understand the inner language which is soundless and formless . Then there comes a time when he will become stunned, surprised by vast beauty , by unlimited joy vaster than any ocean , stillness deeper than any valley. Then he will see his face in the mirror and will be surprised that he never saw and met this person before and everything looks utterly new.
I do understand what you are saying. When I was in hospital (just three months for a broken leg) I "learned" myself to become in this pure state. When I came back in the "real world" it became harder and harder to get back in this blissful state of mind. Sometimes I succeed to get back, and of course trying too hard is in fact craving so I can slip out very quickly. I am not sure if it is fair to blame our society but it makes it really difficult. It seems so double that being effortless costs so much effort.
Yes it takes a lot of practice before being able to do this in a city. That’s why some get into long retreats. Also daily longer meditations might help.
What he says is 100% true. At 04:05 on five defilements please add "fear" when ignorance is mentioned. Fear is a very powerful force and when he mentions desire or craving add the word lust to our understanding. [plz don't confuse this fear with the 'fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. In English language a given word can have more than one meaning or usages]. I hope this comment will help some of us to integrate this great knowledge from Thatagata - The Buddha into our lives! My pranams/salutations to the Master Rinpoche.
Thank you so much. I was thinking all these days, that WISDOM means, knowing that objects and people exist around you is a FACT. Your thought relate you with objects and make you feel real that the object belong to you. Similarly, this thought make you feel that the person belong to you, which is not a fact. Thought has also created a word called Relationship, husband, wife etc. It make you feel real that he oe she belongs to you and relates to you, which is total mental projection. From that false relationship is born attachment, feelings etc etc. So all these days, I was thinking that this is WISDOM. You helped me understand that my understanding is false. I now understand that the thing behind the words, LOVE & COMPASSION is real WISDOM. I will now try to understand what is the thing behind the word LOVE & COMPASSION. Thank you.
I wish there was a way to deal with negativity coming from others I’m happy inside and love giving and when you talk I sense my own feeling thank you for sharing.
I love it when this master tell human nature is good, full of love, very compassionate, and etc. We can see how much we can misunderstood in psychology or modern, we assume human nature, opportunist, greedy, corrupt, survival to the fittest and etc. If lot of understand this wisdom, maybe someday we can create society that truly can nurture our human nature.
dearest GURU. thank you for being there in my awareness. your teachings and blessing is path of my life. may your teaching touch all humankind for better world
You are a wonderful being…. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and steps for us, who are miles away still but carry on in the path of finding divinity inside.
I was asking myself: what I really want to my life, when this videos come. I'm still looking for it, sometimes I feel so sad for don't get the answer, but now I have a way. Thank you, Rinponche
“Entertainment” I’ve done some deep thinking and realized that entertainment is what I truly desire. I even imagined being some sort of god, knowing everything and having all the power, but it still felt dull. There must be an endless number of new experiences to keep me entertained. So, I would create a world with infinite possibilities to entertain myself for eternity.
Sir,thank you for your videos....You are the first one to give all the answers to my problems....Just want your blessings so that i can do something good for this world....
You created an awareness in me today. Thank you. It is important to ask ourselves that what do we want? We have all the answers within ourselves, it is important to find it. You have showed us the way. Thank you.

Hi Sir, It's me again - the hyper kid that somehow still wants to try all this stuff. Thank you for this new video. I was listening to real good music feeling top of the world when I saw you had uploaded a new video :D So when you said I was good I went "I know I am" ha ha too much pride and not enough wisdom. I have it all - all the five things you talk about, but that's OK. Honestly I'm more forgiving of myself than to the people I am close to. It's bad - I know ha ha. Lately I have developed some easy tricks for keeping my mind stable and open at most times. I just rest in naturalness and my latest trick is simply to "zoom out". Whenever I start focusing on something I noticed I got that "brink of agitation" feeling I've been talking about, but as soon as I zoom out it disappears! So I'm really happy that a new video came up right now. I still didn't get what the method was exactly, so I'll watch the video again a couple of times. I'm sort of excited to find out what my wisdoms are ha ha :D actually I'm REALLY excited ha ha :D OK I'm off PS. yeah and I want PIZZA :D
Sir, my father died on 5th of August, I was in grief for 2 days. Then I started to look for meditation so that I can support myself. Then I found your videos and they are very helpful. Now I am really happy and found real wisdom that life is impermanence. I want to join tergar for meditation practice can you please tell me how can I join tergar and make life better of other people also.
You can check out the website and see if there is a center close to where you live - tergar.org/ Even if you don't live close to any centre there are also resources online / books written by Mingyur Rinpoche that also introduce meditation methods. Hope it helps!

Wonderful & useful summary!
Imagine if everyone had someone like this close to them; the world would seem very different. Maybe it’s up to us to become that for them.
I am practicing this since a couple of years but few realize.
My partner has even participated in retreats with Tergar but still got into depression.
It also takes a decision to see and really take this all in.
Yes it’s up to us to live this.
It has changed my world even though there’s no big difference on the outside.
Also very boring trust me ..... we are a warring race .... we love to fight

5 poisons that are the hindrances on the spiritual path that I have read are
1. Sensual desire, craving, grasping
2. Hatred, aversion, anger
3. Stupor/torpor, laziness
4. Restlessness, worry
5. Sceptical doubt
