      Yes, Having drain plugs in the differential housing means you can avoid the extra work and mess that comes with having to remove the differential cover. Thanks for watching.
      Cheers.

    Was getting oil changed at a Valvosine & they were telling me this needed to be changed for $100! But don’t worry it only takes 10 minutes they said 😂 will have to borrow tools from AutoZone cause don’t have a torque wrench with PSI reading but other than that should be doable

    • @CheaperJeeperTV
      @CheaperJeeperTV  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yes. Here is my detailed video. I am not a mechanic but as you can see, it is very doable. You get the satisfaction with working on your own rig, that it’s done right, and you save money. th-cam.com/video/wW_l0AEY6wg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=G-okMDcGSETuG1Tz

      Over here in California where I’m from they want to charge a little over $100 for an oil change! I went to the store and did it myself for about $60. I also did my girlfriends oil change for $35

    Synthetic has the additive i it already, and you need the additive only for the LSD diff.

    • @CheaperJeeperTV
      @CheaperJeeperTV  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. The additive is for the LSD differential. I used OEM differential oil so as to avoid any possible issues with warranty.

      @@CheaperJeeperTV yep, I do the exact with my 2016 75th Anniversary Edition as it is under a 7/100k Powertrain warranty until 4/2024, already covered a new rear main seal and oil filter housing replacement, that would have been a $2200 charge if not covered, as a result of “The Great Crackening” cold spell of December 2022, quite a few folks had oil filter housings fail due to this weather event, including 3 friends of mine with Jeep Wranglers (3.6). My 2010 with the 3.8, the EGR Valve seems to be its “oil filter housing”, when it comes to the “weak component” that will need replacement of the 3.8. If when the oil cooler does fail again, and no longer under warranty, then I’ll go the Dorman aluminum route. Wish they had the same for the TStat.

    Why use additive? When good quality fluid comes with limited slip additive?

    • @CheaperJeeperTV
      @CheaperJeeperTV  หลายเดือนก่อน

      While under warranty, I chose to use Mopar products. And Mopar has the additive separate. Cheers.

    Of course not all diffs have a drain plug. For those diffs you have to remove the cover plate and install a new gasket.

    • @CheaperJeeperTV
      @CheaperJeeperTV  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      True. My 2024 Rubicon doesn’t have a drain plug. That makes DIY a little more troublesome. Cheers

    Not all cars like having diff oil full to the brim, read the owners manual to see how much you need to put in.

    • @CheaperJeeperTV
      @CheaperJeeperTV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely! Read the owners manual for your specific vehicle for sure.
      From what I have found, in regards to the Jeep Wrangler, the differential and transfer case oils should only be filled to the fill hole. As soon as you see it leaking out of the fill hole, that should be enough.
      Thanks for the feedback.

    Do you only have to add the additive for the rear differential or both the rear and front?

    • @CheaperJeeperTV
      @CheaperJeeperTV  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Additive is for the rear differential, as it has the limited slip differential option in my vehicle. Check with your dealer.

    How often to perform. How many miles or years between intervals?

    • @CheaperJeeperTV
      @CheaperJeeperTV  ปีที่แล้ว

      I do it every 50,000 kms. However it depends also on your driving habits and weather or not you go off road a lot.

      @CheaperJeeperTV hi I have a 2010 f150 with 300,000 miles.
      and I use a landscaping trailer every day too hauling too work
      I be driving like 8 hours every day
      So every what couple of months should I change differential oil

    • @CheaperJeeperTV
      @CheaperJeeperTV  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Brian,
      I'm not a mechanic, and I just share what I learn from others on the Jeep forums or from TH-cam videos. Essentially I have read many times from different sources, that if you want to look after your Jeep, to change the differential and transfer case oils about every 50,000 kms. Plus, if you are doing some aggressive off roading, then sooner than that. I like to look after my vehicles, so I decided for my Jeep, every 50,000 kms sounded good. The interval I followed lines up with the dealer's recommended interval as well.
      In your case, I guess it is up to you and what the F150 service manual recommends. It sounds like your use-case scenario can be described as heavy duty, You may want to change the oils on a more frequent basis.
      I hope that helps.
      Cheers.

      @@CheaperJeeperTV - I just raise my concerns about people posting videos about fixing their own cars.
      I'm a licensed mechanic and you can tip toe around it all day long but there is no comparison to a certified mechanic and someone who thinks they're handy.
      It's kind of like this new age gender ideology... For some reason a bunch of people who aren't seem to think they know the same as someone with a doctor degree in biology.
