Great video again, Tony! Do you have one, or will you make one, about "getting hit"? How to handle taking punches, how to get used to taking shots, and what a boxer needs to do if he is hurt? Thanks!!!
I love how he actually explains what the punches are supposed to actually do, make your opponent raise / lower his hands, etc. Helps alot with the mental breakdown of the combination as a whole
Thank you Sir! Excellent content and detailed explanation between boxing fitness and realistic, effective boxing combos. As a kickboxing instructor and fitness trainer, I also seek to teach my clients both concepts. Best wishes to you and much respect.
#2 Was a combination that Mike Tyson often used in the peek-a-boo style. He was very short and his arms were short as well. That first step (after the lead jab) had to land outside of the opponent's foot so that the hooks to the body would land beautifully. Pay attention to your footwork folks!
I love the jab slip liver shot. I have alot of success with that combo. And as you said doubling up getting the guard to lower to come over the top is gold. Great video!
That second combo is golden. I practice it really often (when I do train lol) and making it muscle memory has improved my overall slipping and countering drastically. Before I didn't have the timing down as well I wanted, but having a simple combo to use shadowboxing or with a heavy bag was so key. Appreciate the vids, bro!
@@dosomestuff1949 Honestly shadowboxing did it just fine for me. Mitts with a trainer would prob be best, tho. Just make sure not to overshoot or undershoot the slip, that's the hardest part. @YūGen Indeed it is a solid mix. Boxing helps you being mindful of your targets and a building blocks of creating endless combinations with your fist because at some point, you can't rely on your legs for kicks and thats when the hands comes in play.
When I think of the term practical combination nearly last on my mind would be a tripled up left hook combo. Definitely appreciate the effort and detail you included.
Thanks Tony, I just got home from sparing I successfully landed the second variation of the first combo. It was great to watch old mate react to the set up! I'm fairly new to the sport, I'm fairly aggressive in my style and like to keep an awkward distance to hold the pressure on my opponent. I'm finding I am getting caught out throwing to many punches then countered when I'm on the attack. When I have an apponent backed up on the rope can you suggest some combos that will let me open up some attacks with escapes? Thanks from Australia, Craig.
Well i am a street fighter (forced to self defence). For me the 1,2,1,1and then 2 to the belly is the best. Then just indiscriminately beat him when he is cathing the breath. Or 1,1,2,then left hook(3) to the liver. Believe me,if you hit the liver, you will feel tension that he might die(i knocked one dude,i wsnt happy at all, i was afraid that i have done something bad). My go to combo was always, right hand-nose, right hand-gut, left hand-jaw, right hand-jaw. But obviously that doesn't always work,. I've been boxing my whole life lol
Tony, I really like the fast jab- slip- body- head, going to practice that. One issue I notice I've been having in my bag work is that my arm/elbow consistently looks low on the hooks (both lead and power hand). Any recommendations for throwing better hooks?
Great video my man. I know you're focusing on combos, but it's also good to practice a jab too. Spence Jr has absolutely punished opponents with his jab alone, and having that strong base of a good jab can ripple into the rest of your combo.

Another great video for fighters, thanks Tony. I might start using that jab, slip bang bang. I usually skip the jab part but I can see the value in adding it. My favourite combo is actually really simple. It's just a long left jab (through the feet) that taps their glove out of the way on the way through. Once that connects (eight times out of ten it does) you can now flow into a flurry of punches depending on where they go from there. The beauty of this simple deflecting jab is they usually lose sight and a bit of structure which presents you with an easier follow up set of targets.

Great, realistic stuff, Tony. As a natural southpaw who boxes right handed, the 1-2-1 is a favorite of mine. That second left comes out with some power.
3 Realistic Boxing Combinations Part 1 1. Right Uppercut, Left Hook to the body Second Variation: Step Jab, Cross, Left Hook to head, Left Hook to body 2. Fast Jab, Step and slip, Left Hook Body shot 3. Jab, Lean, Jab, Cross, Jab
Your channel is great. You might want to do a CD that an old Geezer like me can put next to him since I'm a slow learner. You'll probably have pros and boxers (MMA) but A LOT of people over 30 just wanting fitness and self-defense capabilities. Great stuff Tony. Tony is my Dad's middle name. In Texas they used to use the shortened form (not "Anthony") My Grandad was an undefeated barefisted boxer, back around 1918 - A VERY tough man! Lied about his age and fought in WW! (in France) at the age of 16! As a younger boy he would wrestle the Carnival wrestlers in Austin, Texas that would pass through town (aged 14, 15) and he would always beat their ass! - That's how he made pocket money!
Great advice to think about the dumb old combos we always practice. Like them all, that last one with the pull and then the 1-2-1 i bet that works a treat.
@TonyJeffries are these combinations for left-hand dominant people? You seem right-handed in your stance (?) but laying the heavy/hard punches you do with your left hand. As a newbie should I focus first on getting the good hits with my harder hitting right hand or practice hard punches with the left also so that from the get go I'm more balanced? I ask because it feels like if I focus hitting hard with my left non-dominant hand then I'm not developing the coordination/strength I need to max out my right dominant hand. Thanks for your awesome video!!

The minute I get demotivated because my boxing gym is closed, I see Tony videos to get back on track by working some combos on the heavy bag
Hey tony how much power should we use practicing this combos? Full power or just tapping it?
This is where you went! I recently read about you moving to the US and opening a gym, but just realised you’re doing these. Followed your career back in the day!
Thanks sir for hepling me in my practice
Thanks for the video very informative. Can you please show yourself using these combos in the ring against your opponents and make a breakdown video?
From India❤🥊
Fantastic coaching and demonstration, I will definitely be using this in my home training and visiting your channel again.
Great, realistic stuff, Tony. As a natural southpaw who boxes right handed, the 1-2-1 is a favorite of mine. That second left comes out with some power.
3 Realistic Boxing Combinations Part 1
1. Right Uppercut, Left Hook to the body
Second Variation: Step Jab, Cross, Left Hook to head, Left Hook to body
2. Fast Jab, Step and slip, Left Hook Body shot
Thank you for the valuable information. Really appreciate it
more to come ma man, you should check part 2 to 4 of this realistic boxing combinations
Thank you. Very good. Practiced Japanese martial arts 25 years ask had a Sensai who preached the head movement and balance of the footwork constantly. He loved boxing. These tips are awesome. Thank you. David Rudolph Virginia
One of the easiest tutorials to follow .I like how realistic you were with the combos , Very straight to the point no beating around the bush Thank you.
Thank you for these great combinations Sir, love from Philippines 💪
hey, love the video. I got some questions. I am starting to get into boxing. I am a big fighter. 6'5 270. Long arms. What combos should I work on as a taller fighter. Also, do you have any videos on good training exercises for feet and head movement and all that?
Thank you
