I always found it insanely infuriating that the main protagonist's canonical names are Lillian and Phillip, and yet neither of those names fit within the damned six character limit. Anyways, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one infuriated by that limit.

I love your Harvest Moon reviews there just isn't enough of them out there! I have played the series since I was a kid. I wanted to make a suggestion about what to review next heh, I would love to see what you think of the game Story of Seasons for the 3ds since it is made by the guy who created and made the Harvest Moon games. He is no longer allowed to use the name anymore since Natsume owns the rights to it.
Thanks! I know the whole story on that game. Really shady of natsume to keep the name just to put it on what are essentially knockoffs.
I'd love to review story of seasons, but at the moment, it can't happen because I have no way to record game footage for it. Maybe one day when the citra 3ds emulator works. Sorry, for now it's just a future hope.
This and friends of mineral town are my obsessions right now.

I had played a lot of HM games by the time I got a hold of this one and I agree it was a bit too wonkey, but the canal system was kind of the best thing ever.
I've started playing Harvest Moon 2 as my first HM game, but I think I'll be downloading this as my second one, due to there being a sale going on in the EShop for this game...($10)

Jonathan Smith hey i own this this before i saw this review and i live in bluebell go to the cooking festivals every time and have a boyfriend and there is two things she didn't say if you want you don't have to make anything and just spectate at cooking festivals and either way you get a prize for coming one time i got 5 star wine from Rutger so i really recommend this game.
You're right I did forget to mention you can just watch. But it's not as effective for helping the two towns start to get along. It also doesn't change the fact that every store is closed on competition day. But fair point, I wasn't very thorough with this review.

Wow, that's one I actually didn't know about. I'm not sure if I'll review this one next, because I don't own it. I'll have to find a copy of it and play it. It's definitely on my list now though.

I've already filled the heart "meter" and the damn tunnel is still blocked! Could it be that the request for a bigger bed has not been completed, if it is, how in the hell can I get the stupid ore stones?
I want to try this one. The problems are fixed on the digital version.

The shops closing on an all-day rain was probably the most infuriating part for me. The radio only gives you the day and next day weather report and if that overlaps with a holiday or cooking comp you could have a stretch of days where you can't buy anything. All you can really do is go gathering/fishing/questing and that's about it.

PS: Yes, region locking is total bullshit. I lived in Japan for 2 years and got a lot of games. It's a bitch now that I'm back here to have 2 Wiis and 2 sets of Wii games.

How did you dig like that?! I've been trying and trying but I can't seem to get it. They just won't connect for me :(
SuperFreakified Did you just start the game? Because you can't connect them until Ina gives you the tutorial for it sometime in the first season, I think. It's kind of silly. Once you see the tutorial for it, then you can connect them by moving in one direction and pressing A over and over.

Oh okay! Yeah I've had the game for a while but I got it at the same time as Harvest Moon: A New Beginning and I ended up playing that one forever and ignoring this one so I only just got back around to picking it up. Plus last time I played I focused on animals and didn't really grow anything. Thanks!
I'm replaying it on my 2ds xl I chose Bluebell and named my farm fauna for animals if I move to konohana I'll name it flora ya know flora and fauna plants and animals.

I don't know what other games you have but if you want to stick with reviewing the Harvest moon series you could go with Grand Bazaar. However if you want to move on from Harvest moon then review the Kingdom Hearts DS games!
Kingdom Hearts might work. Not sure if I'd be the best person to review it because I've never played any Kingdom Hearts games. You're the second person to mention Grand Bazaar. I'm done with school now, so I'll have more time to play it. If no other suggestions come up, I'll review it. I just have to track down a copy.

So there is no hybrid animal/crops farm in this game? You pretty much have to choose one? Seems silly
+Connor Stevens Well...you can do both animal and crop farming in either place. It's just a matter of which one is more dominant. In Konohana, you have more fields, but less room for animals, and in Bluebell, you have more room for animals, but less fields for crops.
You also can still use the fields at the farm in the town you aren't living in. So if you live in Bluebell, you can still, potentially, use the fields in Konohana. However, it is kind of a pain to grow things other than grains (which you don't water) in that scenario unless you clear the tunnel since you would have to cross over the mountain. Having an owl helps somewhat, though.
Personally, I think it is just better to live in Bluebell, or at least start in Bluebell. You get free animals if you start in Bluebell, Bluebell still has a little bit of field, and you still have access to Konohana fields if you are in dire need of more fields. Then again, I found I prefer raising animals and participating in the animal festivals compared to living in Konohana and participating in the crop festivals there. Though that may partially be because I don't like the crop festivals, at least right now. I dislike how it is impossible, or too expensive, for me to win the crop festivals as it keeps rubbing in my face EVERY SEASON the fact that I don't have a seed maker, making me always second best. D=
Also, Cam/Kamil is in Bluebell, so....yeah. There's also that.
For some of the expansions/add-ons/renovations at the farms, you have to be in the right town to be able to get it when you renovate/expand, though I think you can use those expansions/additions (like the maker sheds) freely after you get them (like how you always can access both town's fields). You can also move between towns if you move out, though the moving option is only available on specific dates at the end of the season. An ill-planned move, or a move where things don't turn out as planned, can suck, especially since you have to wait till the end of the season unless you didn't save after you moved.

It's one of the very best games I have ever played. If you are into games that take a bit of mastery and that are unlike anything you've ever played before, it will be for you. Ignore the iOS version though.

Yeah you can get married in this game, but the requirements regarding marriage are ridiculous! It’s even worse if you want a child. You will need a 1,000,000G house upgrade.
