    Taemin has been in the industry since he was eleven years old, he is an introvert guy which makes it difficult for him to socialize easily, he suffered bullying at school for that reason, he has been a child overprotected by his hyungs not only from SHINee but from SM. All this has played against him in the military.

      @Jumi Comfort I don't know where you're from, but for sure you aren't from Korea. You needs to study a little of the history of Korea to be able to judge. South Korea is currently in a suspended war with North Korea, North Korea constantly threatens them with nuclear bombs, the border is protected by American troops to prevent any attack. That is why korean citizens have to be militarily prepared to defend their country at any time. What South Korea has suffered throughout its history to be a free country we have not suffered, so wanting to tell them how to run their country is a bit daring.

    • @AliPop
      @AliPop ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Jumi Comfort "young men being abused and sexually harassed in the military"I think you're exaggerating, in South Korea there is more respect, I think they look at them in the showers to make fun of them or make jokes. Anyway, it's wrong, but it's more like bullying and not sexual abuse.

    • @lafemmesue7273
      @lafemmesue7273 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      I think making fun of someone naked in the shower male or female is abusive in a sexual manner, more than just bullying- it is acting on power while that person is exposed & vulnerable in every way - that’s abuse.

    • @AliPop
      @AliPop ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@lafemmesue7273 I don't think it's sexual abuse because these guys are not sexually motivated. They just watch out of curiosity, out of envy or to annoy the idol. Well, but if there is someone who is homosexual, then perhaps that stalking could have a sexual motivation and could be called sexual abuse.

    • @lafemmesue7273

      @@AliPop I think we’ll just have to disagree, we are quibbling over semantics now. I’m looking from the victims pov & you are looking from the perpetrators. If this happened to me (believe me no one would want to take such photos of me) I would feel abused in a sexual manner, it would affect me in all the same ways as if the camera operator was experiencing gratification. By what was described it sounds as if the photos would most likely be sold & distributed to many unknown cretins & some would be used in a sexual manner. Whatever it is classified as the crime needs to be seriously punished.

Who in their right mind would post such things online about another and not realize how hurtful it is? That the military doesn't take action again against those who abuse the idols escapes me. These men are supposedly making Korea proud. Why disparage them this way? Try being a good human and protect them.

    Baekhyun is my ultimate so I miss him very much, but despite that I honestly can't even worry about their careers as much as simply their wellbeing. There's *nothing more important* than that. I believe those fans who truly care about their favorite idols will wait for them no matter what. What I'm actually relieved about is that Taemin was allowed to transfer. I can't even imagine what it must be like. Completely changing surroundings and environment is enough itself for a person who suffers from anxiety or depression. It's difficult to bare with things on daily basis, let alone things like these. I think of Baekhyun and Taemin pretty much everyday since I truly wish for them to be okay and to *come back safely* . I often listen to Taemin's Soldier, Rise or Under my skin, and every time I have tears in my eyes because you can just hear the tenderness and fragileness of his soul in those songs. Due to the time in the army which is 18 months (21 months for the air force) idols will have this thing called “blank period”. It means that they can’t be active in the industry and fans will start to forget them. Its also true that when they come back fans might love them again. But who knows the future? You are right some sadly do disappear, some are dropped it's very competitive. Yet everyone knows the tough life of a trainee, not only that through their careers they have to pay ridiculously. Taken advantage of totally by profit driven Companies, every day costed, itemised & accounted for out of any earnings. It's a hard Apprentiship, but few reach the heights of Internationally recognised Idols. Your argument applies too, to those currently Exempted. Their must be some fairness, either all, or recognise the exceptional talents that the different genres in the Entertainment/Music Industry offer. The Contribution is no less than a Weightlifter for a one off Gold Medal, or a Pianist for a Carnigie Hall Performance! To think the Government recognises the fact that it's contentious, so passing the buck currently, is very concerning. In a position of Authority yet refusing to transparently consider all sides? It must be their decision their responsibility, to educate those who are ignorant of a wider view, while being fair to all categories. At the moment such contribution to the Country is not being so at all. Seemingly attributing frivolous choice of career in seeking fame. The only reason the real picture is not transparent, seems to be because of its ugly background of corruption & slavery of young people. Their youth is the price they pay, few sadly get the recognition they deserve, at least start with the World impactful Artists. Such a mess. Perhaps then let them serve when they leave Education. That is again an issue, being 20 or so so for many, it's just postponing adulthood, yet at least may not interrupt Careers at their height.
      By the way so you think it's fair to interrupt a great Career at its height? When it brings so much recognition to SK, from worldwide Fans, whose own Governments acknowledge their influence on their children? All parents long for great role models for their children, so bottom line is it mainly a generational issue? What influenced their parents growing up? Are they resistant to change, because they value their own past more? Isn't moving forward progressively better for the Country? In our case sadly our Government being Far Right, wants to return to Victorian values. There was a time when this would not be acceptable, we are going through change again, hopefully away at some point back to balance. It's our Leaders who should be informed enough to do that.

    Sexual harrasment of men, especially the younger or simply the newer ones in the military and then those unashamed abusers also get to 'enjoy' the special performances by mostly female idols..... the kind of hoots they let out for even the minors are definitely not of the positive support kind. This is why glorifying any organization/person is never right, they're not the perfect beings they're portrayed as always.
    Also, no matter how many laws we make, most of such problems are social and the most effective way of curbing them is by raising awareness that such actions are not natural, not meant to be, not a given stage of life one must go through.

    In life people intentionally pick the nicest and least problematic people (especially those with existing mental health conditions or family hardship) to bully because they know those people are less likely to fight back and also because the gossip and secret info feels so much more clandestine. The same goes for the military. For some it almost feels like a conquest or a game to break the smile of someone who is famous because then you feel “better than the celeb” and powerful. These nice people aren’t treated like humans because others either can’t see or don’t care that they’re also humans deserving of equal respect and consideration.

    GD, probably the kindest person on this planet, especially known to be very humble, to always bow full 90 degrees to everyone, wether they are his seniors or juniors, rookies or people with success. In military he even gives his personal credit card for everyone to use freely, yet has several "scandals" during his service without any fault of his own.
    He hurt his ankle years ago while he was on his solo world tour and couldn't get it treated, bc he chose to perform all shows he had promised. Then it got so bad military ordered a surgery for him to ease the pain he had lived with ever since the accident on stage. He could've chosen private hospital to go into, but stayed humble and the surgery was done in a military hospital.
    Then people get angry at him for sick leaves and having a private room for security in hospital althought he was filmed when he was in the same room with other patients, and yet his detailled medical info is leaked and there's body maps of his online where every mole and tattoo is marked, and "underwear size". C'mon, if they know where he has moles in his body, they probably know more than just the size of his "underwear".
    It's one thing to take a peek in a shower and another to draw detailled pictures and publish them. And meanwhile these people buy their snacks with his credit card! He even left it there for other's to use while he was out of base. And still he gets along with everyone.
    World doesn't deserve people like GD.

    This has to be one of the most disturbing and disgusting things I have ever heard in my life. How can people think taking pictures of someone showering is ok? It’s a tremendous violation of someone’s privacy and I can’t imagine the mental strain, humiliation and hurt they have gone through. This is awful. They have to live in a fishbowl if you will in public and the same thing during military enlistment.

    In my country all 18 year olds have to enlist for 2/3 years, regardless of gender or status also. As s girl who was very conscious about her body, It took me a month to shower with all the other girls, and even then it was very hard to bring myself to do it.
    I can't even imagine how hard it is when everybody recognise you and keep looking. So sad that there arent alternatives.

    It’s a frustrating situation cause at least some idols have some lead way to having something done if their having a hard time in the military but average people have to suck it up and get on with it cause no one is likely gonna help them except themselves by standing up for themselves and defending themselves but either that’s gonna lead to them being respected and left alone or making things worse but I feel bad for them how their treated or taken advantage of while trying to fulfill their duty to their country, imagine how it would be for bts members I can only imagine

    I have been involved in politics in the United States for over 40 years. Seen this scenario a thousand times. People and groups (BTS Members) who are unable to speak their true desires on a matter because of possible government backlash, do so for the good of their country and community. This could explain the Hybe Notice. Which is why those of us who were/are in political power used the power of the people to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves, through politics or through corporate pressure. Who will fight for BTS? Will A.R.M.Y rollover, are will we fight for them to the end?

    This is heartbreaking & unbelievable! I only learned of these artists after becoming a BTS fan. They did a show appearance & encouraged people & army check how great other k pop group’s are & to also support them 🙌
    How are these gents doing now? What’s being done about this? Why isn’t this made more covered to people can raise awareness that are not Korean. Therefore they’re protected by the gov, as the artists didn’t do anything the public did. THIS IS SEXUAL HARASSMENT! As a psychiatrist BTS fan or not is not relevant here. Something must be done, for ALL Korean men to be protected! It’s foul play

I really hope he is okay since then as I haven’t read anything about his since . I really don’t want BTS to go through the same thing as he did this is so wrong . Taking pictures of idols in the shower that’s disgusting I don’t want them to suffer they need to be expect this could also impact their mental health too and traumatise them miltary is a bad place. They need to respect all solders in the miltary and not so stuff like this to them.

    This is all disgusting. I can't even imagine what they went through. I have been thinking about this for awhile, but because of South Korea's recent debate on military service and this video in itself explaining the hardships idols go through in military made me think of what Korean entertainment companies should have done from the beginning. Military service is a sacred thing in Korea and, and well as idols get more popular day by day, it's not safe for them to be in an environment such as explained in this video. Its evident that idols are starting to debut at very young ages, which I believe is not a good thing at all. Instead of debuting them so young, they should be training their idols, and at age 18 they should send their trainees to military service. When they come back, their company should train them a bit more. Later debuting them in a group or as a soloist. If they would just do that, then idols wouldn't have worry about the things mentioned in the video. But also, it would help so that they don't have to pause their career and loose fans and money.

  • @TheBailingling
    @TheBailingling ปีที่แล้ว +6

    You would think that with them having to do the mandatory service it would allow the other soldiers to realise that idols are humans too, just like them. It is frustrating to know that they are instead treated like an oddity or something there for to satisfy their personal curiosities or fulfill their indulgent whims. They are humans doing what is required of them. By their government for their service, the company for their job, their dreams for the path they chose- it is heartbreaking to know that in the present day, it hasn't gotten better any better yet.

    I find it kind of weird that they can force these ultra famous people to live in such vulnerable proximity to a bunch of random people. You see the kind of protection they get while being a celebrity and they need it for a reason. To force them to suddenly be near so many randos without protection is very questionable and should be reconsidered somehow
