Love the look of this bike. British made. A reasonable price for electric. Makes more sense than these 22K electric machines. I like it that the batteries can be removed and carried indoors to re-charge. Hope it's a success
Couldn't agree more! Royal Enfield will be bringing out theirs in 2026 so Maeving have to pull out the stops to remain buoyant in this territory. I also hope its a success.
Yeah it's tough out there mate. Hopefully there'll be enough demand from the urbanites and these guys can keep going, as it's a great little bike, electric or not.
I would like to have a rear platform to put my egg Mc muffin machine to cook my breakfast while I ride to work. They should also have a plug in for heated gear for ease of use.
I love maeving as a company I also think it’s a electric bike that makes so much sense in a city environment that and there first bike was the last bike I developed as a development test rider 👌loved that good review as ever
I'm not a fan of electric bikes as you know, ER, but I've admired the Maeving since its introduction. £7000 doesn't seem too bad for such a British made machine.
I agree its a good price tbh, then again 7k can buy you many good ICE bikes these days as we know. With the advent of the Flying Flee coming from RE they need to get the ball rolling with Maeving or the Enfield competition will take some beating. Thanks
Hi my name is mark I rode that bike after you when I returned it we had a chat You’re review is spot on I did actually do a deal with Chris and i traded my rm1 which I’ve had for a year. Mine was delivered yesterday 23/11/24 unfortunately I’ve not been out yet storm Bert has put pay to that so I can’t wait All I can say is the difference between the rm1 and the rm1s are worlds apart in its favour, the price tag wasn’t a factor ,it’s a great product Kind regards Mark
Hi Mark, Yes I remember....would you mind emailing me....email is in the description , I can't write it on here because they pull the post down. Congrats on the new bike...I hope Maeving do well but they need to do more I think. Drop me a line mate if you would. Cheers steve
There’s something bout the way it looks that is just “right”. Looks good. I’d like to know the cost of those 60 miles. Our EV costs next to nothing in fuel so mitigating the purchase price. I’m wondering how long it would take to become cheaper than a comparable 125… that’s the real deal maker or breaker if it’s budget urban transport. Enjoyed this. Looking forward to part 2.
Saw them at the NEC last year and was impressed by the styling, the way the bikes are put together and the owners, who were very nice and helpful. It might work as my commuter, now it has the faster model but as you said, the price is a problem. Also i'd need to test ride one.I was told I'd need to go to Coventry or Covent Garden in Central London to do so.
It's certainly got a place in the city, that's for sure. I like the look of it, apart from that ass end. A big thing will be reliability, service and back up. Nice review that Steve.
Thanks Toj, Yes time will tell....it won't be easy for them with Royal Enfield competition around the corner with their dealership network and marketing might!
That was a really engaging video to watch, I love the way you enthuse about electric bikes. The heritage styling’s not for me but I can definitely see the city market where it’s aimed. It wouldn’t meet my commuting needs which involves a round trip of 80 plus miles on a mixture of twisty B roads and sweeping A roads with town work at the end of it.
Quite a handsome looking beast (no, not you E/R!) The seat hovering in the middle of nowhere spoils the lines a bit. 60 miles isn't a lot of range though...... Ok to pop across town but i wouldn't (for instance) be able to get to Crediton and back or Tiverton say. They've got a long way to go with range..... See what i did there? 😁 Funnily enough only today I've been looking at the Stark Varg. Now, THAT's some electric bike, pity they don't do a road version yet. They claim up to 6 hrs riding which is a fair bit more realistic. Hefty price mind....... Good little review anyway mate.👍
Cheers Ken, Yes these bikes are niche. And the race is on now to get established before Royal Enfield release the Flying Flee......that will be stiff competition then. I see what you did there and the talent is wasted. I heard they are starting up Britains Got Talent, you need to get on there! 60 miles for me is ok , It would be my everyday get around bike, and I could get to Crediton motovelo and home again and still have 40miles....but it could never ne an only bike for me...I would till need an ICE bike. Have a good week bud.
I do like the way it looks. I need a around town bike, and live the idea of the Trail 125, I would buy an electric bike if similar with a platform on back and rustic. But this looks like a fun bike , but needs a capacity to carry something. Saddle bags?
You can get saddlebags for it front and back. Its such a nice bike to get around on but not sure with your big roads it would work TBH.. They have now been launched in California , which I guess you are nowhere near? I have forgotten your area now...its an age thing.
It seems to be the hipster's electric. Looks nice. Okay for around town. Wouldn't be enough for a country blast where I live. But would definitely do a job in town. I'm surprised you said it is light, normally with batteries they're quite heavy. £7k is a bit salty...
Yes it's incredibly light. But that all comes down to the frame being minimalistic. Its not as light as some of the offroad "runner bikes😂" but it's just right I'd say. Yeap 7k... I get the maths though considering the huge overheads, but granted many bikes can be bought for that money.
I thought there great bikes , not just for the city , I live on the iow and with that range I could go round it twice 😊. Reference speed aswell you can’t really go over 50 mph on the island, our A roads are b roads over there . The sound thing is rubbish, never liked noisy bikes and been riding them 53 years , plus try crossing the road with your eyes closed only using your hearing 😂😂😂😂 As I said great bike and loved seeing the Quay again , lived down there in the 70s 😊😊👍👍 great video
Thanks -- plenty to think about and it is a smart looking machine. If I were Maeving I'd be worried as the RE Flying Flea is coming for their potential customers' money. I would bet the Flying Flea is going to cost less, have a greater range plus it will have better customer support in terms of a dealer netwok. If I wanted a city commuter I would d buy a cheap Chinese scooter and save myself 5 grand -- that's a lot of petrol even at today's prices.
I totally agree . RE will be a hard brand to go up against so they need to do something (alot more than they are and pull the chocks away!) before its too late.
Yeap, its one of those bikes you have to "really want" and for most will be a second bike. 7k can get you many other bikes for sure ....but I see why it is 7k at the same time, running a UK based manufacturing company is so tough these days its almost impossible so my hat goes off to them. Many Thanks : )
I think all electric are for commuting only. I really like the look of the Maeving. It looks like what it is, it doesnt pretend to be a motorbike. Nice toy for £7000 and I dont think that is too much for what it is. I wish they could find batteries that don't plunder the planet for these electrics. This is the only one I'd have as a toy but NOT as a replacement for a motorbike.😊
Yes thats very true. These do have removable batteries that can be replaced, but yes I get your point here and I agree...thats something they need to come up with a solution too.

I really like these bikes. They look lika an old BSA Bantam with a beer cooler for an engine, which is no bad thing 🧐
They are a really nice ride, will they take off- I'm not so sure at the moment....I hope they can make it work.
You'd only get two streets away before the battery went flat 😂😂😂
I have Mcdonalds on the phone now.....they are asking for your address to investigate the machine?!
heated gear he mentioned Lilly, we all know where that heat mat is going!
I love maeving as a company I also think it’s a electric bike that makes so much sense in a city environment that and there first bike was the last bike I developed as a development test rider 👌loved that good review as ever
ohh wow , I didn't know you did that. How interesting! the Maeving crew seem a decent bunch.
Great looking bike. And as for electric, love my Zero SR/F. Everyone should ride an electric bike before passing comment.
I totally agree. That is the challenge is to get bums on seats.....Thats my argument with the marketing side.
I'm not a fan of electric bikes as you know, ER, but I've admired the Maeving since its introduction.

Exactly, they need to roll these out before the Enfield competition comes along but that will give Maeving a very tough time.
It's certainly got a place in the city, that's for sure.
I like the look of it, apart from that ass end.

Thanks Keith, Yeap this would be no good for you. Thanks for watching all the same.
Nice video ER! I do like the Maeving its a well made thing... shame you didn't have it for longer...
Yes , it is a bit frustrating I must admit. Lets hope they can withstand the RE Flying Flee....they need to do something PDQ to be frank.

Hiya, Not for me Thanks but Thank You for a lovely video very well produced. Nice to see some sun. Ride safe.
Thats going to be the case for most I expect Paul....Thanks very much for watching it then...It goes a long way. Thankyou.
I do not have anything against Electric bikes but the value for £7k is poor. Think about out this way, for £7k you can get a Honda NC750X.
Yeap, its one of those bikes you have to "really want" and for most will be a second bike. 7k can get you many other bikes for sure ....but I see why it is 7k at the same time, running a UK based manufacturing company is so tough these days its almost impossible so my hat goes off to them. I feel the same, I would still need an ICE bike just so I know I can get anywhere.
I would by electric if the plan was to keep it, but the resale, or part exchange, value is very poor. It’s to do with the batteries…
Yes thats very true. These do have removable batteries that can be replaced, but yes I get your point here and I agree...thats something they need to come up with a solution too.
Why has it got an exhaust pipe?😁
