    Super Ego will let a certain number of people succeed. The ones that talk them up and have positive things to say will get the good paying loads.

    At Landstar you get 65% if you use their trailer. If you have your own you get 70-75%, but I don’t believe they skim off the top either. You do a good job with your videos. Keep up the good work. Stay safe and God Bless you.

      Thanks for the info! Yeah, I've been starting to consider Landstar as a potential next attempt, but haven't really started researching them yet. What costs do they cover for that 35%? For that much money, I'd hope they pay for everything except maybe fuel and truck repairs.

      I don't judge people on where they came from. But the way they dress tells me a lot about their level of professionalism. And to that extent you're mostly correct. There were a handful of drivers who seemed serious while I was there for orientation but it was a small percentage.

    Shouldn't FTC be Federal authority to enforce the cited trade law requiring brokers to disclose their take? Isn't FMCSA focus to reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities involving large trucks and buses?

    • @TouchingGrassOTR
      @TouchingGrassOTR  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Logically, you'd think so, right? But in this case it's an FMCSA rule, and since both brokers and carriers are required to follow FMCSA rules, that's who is responsible for enforcing it. But they don't.

    • @stevec8861
      @stevec8861 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TouchingGrassOTR Lack of enforcement makes sense then. Enforcing interstate commence trade law on truck logistics is well outside their primary safety mission. Not surprised such an agency would view and treat any economic trade law violation complaints as a distraction, and so the complaints end up being ignored because they're not safety related.

    • @TouchingGrassOTR
      @TouchingGrassOTR  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If that's the case, why create the rule in the first place if it's not within their mission and they don't intend to enforce it? But we're arguing about something that we don't need to. Gubments gonna gubment. And somebody is probably paying somebody not to enforce the rules.
      Personally, this isn't really a big issue for me. I'm an anarchist. I understand that the law was created with the intention of solving a perceived problem, which is a lack of broker transparency, but the free market has a better solution, which is for carriers to only take loads that make economic sense for them, and for brokers to make as much money as they can on the spread. I don't think there's anything wrong with making a profit, and I can always choose not to do business with someone who I think it's trying to screw me.
      That's why I left Super Ego. They were pushing me to do things I deem unsafe, both to my person, my business, and to those around me, so I ended that relationship and am making other people aware of how they operate so that they can choose for themselves.

    • @stevec8861
      @stevec8861 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TouchingGrassOTR No argument from me. It is what it is. Have no idea why FMCSA issued a broker disclosure rule that has nothing to do with their primary safety mission. I agree the intention appears good, but it just wasn't well thought out, because it's so far outside the scope of their safety mission. As a result, I'm just saying I understand why they don't lift a finger to enforce it. Wish you the best moving forward with your career.

    • @TouchingGrassOTR
      @TouchingGrassOTR  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well then either you've been blessed with a good dispatcher, or you're running outlaw. But here's a simple way for you to measure your success against the rest of the industry (without incriminating yourself). Calculate your average gross revenue per loaded mile. This would be the Freight Amount divided by Mileage from your settlement statements. For example $4500 / 2781 (from one of my weeks at Super Ego). So my gross rate per loaded mile was $1.62 that week. According to DAT the national average for that month was $2.09. So I did terrible. Do yourself a favor. Calculate your average rate per mile and compare it to the national average. That will tell you how well you're actually doing and how much Super Ego is probably skimming off your loads.

      If you're making the money you need without breaking the law and putting yourself and others at risk, then more power to you. But if you're breaking the law and you are in an accident with injuries, you're pretty much done in the industry. The lawsuit will obliterate you. And you could wind up in prison. Is it worth the risk when you can make just a much money elsewhere and not have to break the law?

      They intentionally hire these guys straight out the ghettos of Chicago that have no idea what is good or bad. Then they go on TH-cam and write comments that they’re all doing “great.” In reality they’re barely able to pay for fuel or food. Literally killing themselves by paying for a company’s equipment that they’ll never own and have ZERO benefits or protections. Modern day slavery.
